The World Bank Group is launching a recruitment drive aimed at increasing the number of Sub Saharan Africans in its work force. This commitment to hire Sub Saharan Africans reflects the Bank Group’s senior leadership commitment for a diverse workforce in which African nationals can play a key role in fighting poverty and increasing shared prosperity.

Employment opportunities will be in various technical areas and professional streams for talented and diverse young professional and mid-career level professional to contribute and grow their skills in a career in international development.

A career with the World Bank Group offers a unique opportunity for exceptionally talented individuals with a passion for international development to contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing problems.

Bank staff work with governments, civil society groups, the private sector, and others in developing countries around the world, assisting people in all areas of development, from policy and strategic advice to the identification, preparation, appraisal, and supervision of development projects.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications for the entry level is a Master’s degree plus 5 years of relevant professional experience. For mid-career professionals, the requirements are a Master’s degree plus 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ideal candidates for these positions must have a demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, the ability to conduct dialogue on relevant development policies and priorities, and
  • be fluent in English with very good writing and communication skills.

Honestly i would like to work with the World Bank Group because i have been nursing ideas that could help Nigeria especially in the area of Agriculture to be both food secure and be largest exporter of agricultural produce. We will get there i believe.

Currently am studying Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, Nigeria. Over time I have acquired skills in programming such as Java, Python, PHP and have been able to work on projects like Computer Software Development, Mobile Android App development, Website Development. I picked up challenges on HackerRank . I do work as a team as well and has held leadership position for sometime.

I am going to apply for the jobs. i have a BCOM an MBA and currently persuing a PHD in Business with over 20 years experience. I have applied so many times before with all the required qualications and never even get shrotlisted. What kind of people do they look for? Is this real or something else? I will keep trying .

it’s a good opportunity but the iterance qualification is a bit strong. I would be happy if you have a please for young Africans who has BA MA on progress and five year experience because such professionals are energetic and wiling to learn. so I appreciate if you consider it as a special case.
