Application Deadline: April 5, 2025

Applications are now open for the 2025 Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) initiative Data Science Fellowship. The Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) initiative develops data science talent for climate and health impact across Africa. The CAN Fellowship provides emerging data science professionals with the skills needed to address challenges at the intersection of climate and health and make a positive impact on lives across the continent.

During the program, participants collaborate with host institutions and mentors on projects to share their data skills, encourage innovative solutions, and build a network of data professionals committed to sustainable development. The fellowship includes practical project work, media training, and opportunities for fellows to present their work at local, regional, and international events.

The Africa Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) program, in partnership with data.org and funded by the Wellcome Trust, combines data science training with experiential learning through a fellowship program that focuses on identified country-specific use-cases and enables training participants to work with an expert to apply learnt skills in practice.
