Yousriya Loza-Sawiris Scholarship 2025/2026 for Egyptians (Fully Funded for Study in the United States)

Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Yousriya Loza-Sawiris Scholarship. Earn a Masters of Development Practice from one of the top ten schools in the world: The Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota. The scholarship is administered by Newton Education Services on behalf of Sawiris Foundation for Social Development.

Eligibility Criteria
  • MDP Program Requirements: 
    • Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited US university or foreign equivalent.  English language proficiency (see below for more information). 
    • Previous coursework in mathematics, statistics, and economics is recommended.  
    • Completion of a 50-credit academic master’s program in 2 academic years.  
    • Completion of a 10 week summer field experience.  
    • English language proficiency is required. Valid TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo. 
    Minimum score requirements:  Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Applicants: 
    • Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt (preference will not be given to dual nationality holders).
    • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a well-reputed academic institution in a related field of study.  
    • Satisfy the entry requirements into the academic MDP program.  
    • Demonstrate excellent professional and academic track record.  
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills (extracurricular activities/community work/entrepreneurial initiative).  
    • Demonstrate the inability to finance studies from own resources.
    • While no specific experience or academic track is required, students with a strong liberal arts education background and sound quantitative and analytical skills will be best prepared for academic success at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.  
    • Demonstrate a minimum of two years of work experience in the field of development.  
    • Employment in the development sector in Egypt following graduation for no less than 2 consecutive years.
Scholarship Benefits

  • Travel expenses

The scholarship will fully cover costs for students during the first year of the program and partial costs of the second year. During the second year, the scholar will have a quarter-time position, which will contribute towards funding partial costs of the program within the second year.

Eligibility Criteria
  • ​Egyptian national residing in Egypt (preference will not be given to dual nationality holders).
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a well reputed academic institution in a related field of study.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of two years of work experience in the field of development. 
  • Satisfy the entry requirements into the academic MDP program.
  • Demonstrate excellent professional and academic track record.
  • The scholarships are awarded based on financial need as well as merit and character demonstrated through academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and social behavior.
  • While no specific academic track is required, students with a strong liberal arts education background and sound quantitative and analytical skills will be best prepared for academic success at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
  • Previous coursework in mathematics, statistics, and economics is recommended.
  • English language proficiency is required. Valid TOEFL or IELTS, exam date should be within two years of graduate program start.   Minimum required scores:  79 ( TOEFL internet – based, minimum 21 in writing and 19 in reading ),  or 6.5 (IELTS,  minimum 6.5 in writing and 6.5 in reading)

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship will cover full tuition, living expenses, travel and health insurance.

The Sawiris Foundation for Social Development is proud to launch the fifth round of the fully funded Yousriya Loza-Sawiris Scholarship Program for candidates seeking the degree of Masters of Development Practice (MDP) from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of  Minnesota, USA.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a well reputed academic institution in a related field of study

  • A valid Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score is required. No specific score is required, however, Fall 2015 admitted students tested within average GRE Verbal Reasoning Percentile: 68% and average GRE Quantitative Reasoning Percentile: 54%

The Yousriya Loza-Sawiris Scholarship is a fully-funded program for students seeking to earn a Master’s Degree in Development Practice (MDP) from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, USA.
