Young Professionals Program

The Competition Authority of Kenya (the Authority) is a Statutory Agency established

under the Competition Act No.12 of 2010. The Authority’s mandate is to promote and

safeguard competition and also protect consumers from unfair and misleading market

conduct.

The Authority has established a one year internship program for fresh graduates from

the university. This program aims at exposing the graduates joining the labour market

to a real work environment in order to enhance their employability.

The program is open in the following functions of the Authority;

1. Mergers and Acquisition

2. Enforcement and Compliance

3. Legal

4. ICT

5. Procurement

Please Note:

a) Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

b) The Authority does not guarantee employment after completion of the internship program

c) Incomplete applications will not be considered

d) Diversity balance considerations will be applied in the selection process

Canvassing of any form will lead to automatic disqualification.

NTERNSHIP PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Mergers and Acquisitions- Bachelors degree in Economics
Enforcement and Compliance – Bachelors degree in Law/ Economics
Legal – Bachelors degree in Law
ICT – Bachelors degree in Computer science, Information Technology or any other related ICT field
Procurement – Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement or Purchasing Supplies

General requirements:

Beneficiaries of the Authority’s Young Professionals program, Industrial Attachment and Apprenticeship will not be eligible;
Beneficiaries of the internship program from any other institution are not eligible;
The applicant must be a graduate, who has graduated with a first Bachelors degree within a period of not more than one year from the graduation day; and
Must be below 27 years of age

The World Bank Young Professional Program is designed for highly qualified and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to the World Bank’s operations such as, economics, finance, education, public health, social sciences, engineering, urban planning, and natural resource management.

Since its inception, the YP Program has hired over 1,700 people who hold or have held positions ranging from entry-level to vice presidents and managing directors. It is a unique opportunity to experience development and gain exposure to the World Bank’s operations and policies.

Minimum Requirements

The following are minimum requirements to be eligible for the Young Professionals Program.

Be 32 years of age or younger (i.e. born on or after October 1, 1982)
PhD or Master’s degree and relevant work experience[?]
Be fluent in English
Please note that full proficiency in one or more of the Bank’s working languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish is desired but not required.
Specialize in a field relevant to the World Bank’s operations such as economics, finance, education, public health, social sciences, engineering, urban planning, and natural resource management
Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience related to development or continued academic study at the doctoral level.

Application Essay for the 2015 Selection Process

Describe in less than 1,000 words the (i) potential role of the World Bank in resolving some of the above challenges, and (ii) your own contribution if you were to work for the World Bank. You may focus on a region or set of countries as well as your area of expertise to describe your proposals.
