The British Council, in partnership with NCVO is excited to announce the 2013 Young Leaders Exchange programme. Funded by The British Council, this innovative new programme is designed to connect future leaders from the North Africa Region and the UK. The initiative aims to strengthen the capability of emerging leaders in these regions and build new, mutually beneficial relationships with them.
The programme will consist of two exchanges; a one-week visit to the UK (September 2013) and a one-week visit to Tunisia (November 2013).
The Leadership Programme will be a combination of theory and practical learning in the form of seminars and workshops, relating to personal development, knowledge building and study visits; all in areas of Civil Society, Arts, Culture, Politics (governmental reform), Education, Business and Media.
It will also consist of visits to organisations active in these fields, for an opportunity to see best practise and network. There will be an opportunity to attend part of the high-profile Hammamet Conference, Tunisia in November 2013.
During the two weeks, young leaders will participate to discussions, workshops, field visits and networking activities.
We are seeking applications from exceptional young leaders in the UK and North Africa, aged 18-35 who are currently engaged within civil society. This can be through various activities; youth wings of political parties, NGOs, Universities, business organisations, media, think tanks, or your own blog. As long as you show a strong passion for civil society activism and have demonstrated leadership abilities, you are welcome to apply – an interest international development and cooperation would also be advantage.
We hope to develop a social media platform and create an environment for possible future collaborations and projects to facilitate networking. We encourage participants to keep this in mind.
All travel costs, rooms and board will be covered.
