WeChat, the leading social communications platform, has teamed up with the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) to jointly hold the INNOVATEChina 2015 competition which gathers MBA students from around the world in a bid to identify innovative and creative business plans.
Since 2008, the competition hosted by CEIBS has brought together world-renowned entrepreneurs and investors to work with students from international business schools in developing ground-breaking ideas for business and society.
This year CEIBS is collaborating for the first time with WeChat to host this competition which asks students to incorporate features from the WeChat platform into their business plans.
The students’ business plans can leverage the multi-dimensional communications capabilities of the WeChat platform to conceptualize new ways for people to communicate as well as deliver meaningful impact on their lives.

Anyone can participate but 50% of team members must be current students or alumni from an accredited MBA program.
How to Participate
What you need to do is develop an innovative idea based on WeChat platform and come up with a business plan
Team Requirements
- Each team represents a business school
- Each team can have a maximum of 5 team members. There is no minimum team member size
- 6 final teams will be invited to China to attend the finals. Flights and accommodation fees are covered
- Anyone can participate but at least 50% of the team members must be current students and /or alumni from an accredited MBA program.
- Finalists will be able to participate in both the mentoring and the finals in Shanghai
Benefits
- Six shortlisted teams will be invited to Shanghai, China to attend the competition finals where the top three winning teams will be determined.
- The overall winning team will receive a grand prize of US$10,000.
- WeChat will also bear the expenses of all flights and accommodation for the shortlisted teams that attend the Shanghai finals.
- A roadshow encompassing some of the world’s finest education institutions is taking place to showcase the competition and foster discussion with students and innovative business leaders.
- The six shortlisted finalists will be announced by early February and will join a mentoring program with the judges to further develop their business plan concept. The finals event in Shanghai will take place on March 22, 2015.
The roadshow has already stopped at Stanford and Harvard in the US, with CEIBS in Shanghai due to host the final event on January 18. Speakers include leaders from WeChat and pioneering companies like Ubuntu, Flipboard, Caesars Entertainment, OTT Hub Business at Nexmo and SAP.
