In the context of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations and under the overall theme of “Youth and Poverty Reduction”, UN Namibia and the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is asking the Namibian Children and youth to unleash their creativity and to imagine the Namibia they want and deserve!
Essay and Artwork should focus on any of the following:
What does Namibia look like that you envision?
What do you think are the most important factors contributing to youth unemployment?
What is the role of children and young people in addressing these challenges and what are the possible solutions?
The UN family in Namibia and the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture wants to hear YOUR voice; it’s YOUR turn to change the world.
Eligibility:
The contest is open to Grade 1-12 learners attending school in Namibia; only 3 entries per school will be accepted.
Learners with disabiliites are strongly encouraged to participate

Junior Primary: Artwork
Senior Primary: Artwork
Junior Secondary : Essay
Senior Secondary: Essay
Schools for learners with special needs: Artwork
Guidelines
Essays should be submitted in English
Essays should be between 700 and 1000 words for senior secondary learners, 500-700 words for junior secondary school learners
Drawing from primary school learners will be accepted in any medium (paint, pencils, pastels etc.)
All work submitted must be the learners’ original ideas and unpublished
Please include your contact details: Full Name, Date and Year of Birth, name of school, email address and phone number
The UN Namibia reserves the right to publish all winning work or extracts thereof, with full credit to the author, on its website, social media platforms, any future publications and publicity materials.
Awards
The top three winning entries of each category will receive a certificate and monetary prize to be invested in their school.
1st Prize: Certificate and prize of 1,500 USD
2nd Prize: Certificate and prize of 1,000 USD
3rd Prize: Certificate and prize of 750 USD
