Call for Proposals: UNESCO MGIEP‘ Transforming Education Conference for Humanity’ (TECH) Conference 2018 – India (Financial assistance available)

UNESCO MGIEP now invites applications for presenters for its TECH 2018 conference for those working or interested in the field of education and technology.

Transforming Education Conference for Humanity (TECH): 15-17 November, 2018

TECH 2018, UNESCO MGIEP’s international conference, aims to showcase the role of games and digital learning in enabling a shift from “transmissive pedagogies” to “transformative pedagogies” to create peaceful and sustainable societies. The Call for Proposals for TECH 2018 has now been released.

Why Attend

Building on the success of TECH 2017, the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) will organise TECH annually for the next four years to delve into the role of games and digital learning technologies in enabling a shift from “transmissive pedagogies” to “transformative pedagogies” to create more peaceful and sustainable societies. TECH 2018 aims at drawing a blueprint for harnessing pedagogical possibilities opened up by digital technologies, in order to contribute to enabling a revolutionary shift in education from individual content acquisition to collaborative intelligence.

Requirements:

  • TECH 2018 is open for experts and practitioners in the field of education technology and education for peace, sustainable development and global citizenship comprising of Ministers of Education, senior policy makers, education technology specialists, educators and teachers, curriculum designers, researchers, learners, students, game designers, ed-tech exhibitors and more.

Interested in attending TECH 2018 as a presenter? TECH 2018 has a variety of formats that you can submit your application for, across the five themes of the conference. Apply to present a Breakout Session, E-poster, Learning Zone, Maker Space or Mock Classroom

Submit Your Proposal:
  • The application process requires interested individuals to complete and return the Application Form along with their presentations to tech 2018. [email protected]
Submission Guidelines:
1. The title of the proposal should convey the exact topic and its content.
2. A brief yet comprehensive description of your session, which covers the subject, objective and proposed outcome .
3. The method you use to deliver your presentation must align with one of the session formats.
4. Please also submit brief bios of the presenter and co-presenter. All of the above must be submitted by 1 August 2018 (11:59 p.m. Indian Standard Time) . Those submitting proposals will be informed of acceptance by 15 September 2018.
*Financial assistance may be available for select candidates from developing countries. UNESCO

UNESCO international Conference 2016 on Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education, New Delhi INDIA (FULLY FUNDED)

UNESCO MGIEP is looking for 50 dynamic young people from around the world, and across multiple sectors, who are committed to building a more peaceful and sustainable world to participate in TAGe Delhi to share their views and opinions with decision-makers and experts working on Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education(PVE/E).

Requirements:

  • Are you between ages 25 to 35?
  • Are you engaged in PVE/E or related domain as an educator, trainer, practitioner, member of a non-Governmental organization, media professional, documentary filmmaker, private sector professional, policy maker, researcher, academic, or in any other capacity?
  • Do you have success stories or innovative initiatives to share, and wish to contribute to the global conversation on Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education?

UNESCO and the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development are convening the UNESCO International Conference on the Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education, in Hotel Novetel, New Delhi, India on 19 and 20 September 2016.

The International Conference seeks to build a common understanding, among senior education policy makers from around the world, about the educational interventions and approaches that are needed to ensure that education systems contribute appropriately and effectively to the prevention of violent extremism.  

UNESCO MGIEP’s TAGeis a discussion forum with the aim to mainstream the collective voice of the youth for inclusion in policy decision-making at the highest level. TAGealso forms an important part of the Conference and provides an opportunity to engage with the youth on the topic, allowing their voice to reach policy makers. The TAGe event expands the no protocol, town hall format discussion between distinguished experts and initiated youth with sophisticated social media campaigns and leading-edge ICT tools to facilitate fresh and insightful discussions and agreements.

2015 UNESCO MGIEP Blue Dot Youth Essay Contest

This year, the United Nation will convene for its General Assembly in New York to adopt a new set of targets called the Sustainable Development Goals, which will pave the way for all our development work over the next two decades. (Click here for a draft of the SDGs).

But now UNESCO MGIEP want to hear from you first:

IF YOU COULD DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT A SET OF THREE GOALS THAT THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY—INCLUDING THE UN—SHOULD FOLLOW OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS:

HOW WOULD YOU IMPLEMENT THEM?

 

UNESCO MGIEP is a specialized international UNESCO Institute, working to build the capacities of Member States, education systems, Post-2015 international policy, and youth, on education for peace and sustainable development.

If you are between the ages of 16-32 and live anywhere in the world, send us a 1,000-word essay which answers these questions. The winners receive a prize and will be published in the upcoming issue of the Blue Dot Magazine. The title of your essay is up to you.

Rules

  • Essays must be in English.
  • All entries should be sent by email in the form of an attachment in the .doc or .docx format.
  • Please include your full name, date and year of birth, current occupation, affiliation (ex. school, university or employment), an email address where we can contact you, and country of residence.
  • UNESCO MGIEP will ask for proof of date of birth and a high resolution picture of the author if an essay is selected for publication.
  • The essay must be an original work of the submitting author. Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
  • All sources cited and mentioned in the essay must be properly cited and referenced. Any academically recognized citation style may be used, as long as the name of the author, publication, and date are clearly mentioned.
  • Only submissions received before midnight (Indian Standard Time) on 30 March 2015 will be considered.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
  • Contest entrants allow UNESCO MGIEP to publish their work, or extracts thereof, with full credit to the author, on its website, social media platforms, any future publications, and publicity material.
  • In the event that there is an insufficient number of qualified entries or if the judges determine that no entries meet the quality standards established to award the prizes, UNESCO MGIEP reserves the right not to award any prizes.

The top three winning entries will be published in the July 2015 Issue of the Blue Dot, UNESCO MGIEP’s biannual magazine.

First Prize: 750 USD

Second Prize: 500 USD

Third Prize: 250 USD

Short extracts from some of the best entries will be published in the Blue Dot’s Youth Section.
