She Leads Africa (SLA) Accelerator Program 2019 for early stage Female Entrepreneurs (2 million Naira cash prize)

The SLA Accelerator is a 4-month program designed to identify, support and fund the next generation of Nigeria’s brightest female entrepreneurs. The winner of the programme will receive N2 million from SLA. 

This year, the programme is open to businesses in any sector or industry based anywhere in Nigeria.

Benefits

Eligibility

  • Business with at least one woman aged 18-35 as a shareholder or owner
  • We are accepting applications from innovative businesses in ALL sectors this year
  • Less than 3 years in operation 
  • Business must be based in Nigeria
  • Business must not have raised more than $50,000 in external funding

Application Process:

  1. Put together a top-notch application package, ace the semi-final interviews and get selected by the review committee.
  2. Attend a one week in-person bootcamp where you’ll meet the other participants and receive training from the SLA team and some of Nigeria’s most prominent business and operational experts.
  3. Get access to 15 masterclasses on crucial business skills with top business experts, every month for the next 3 months.
  4. Virtual Demo Day! Present your business to local and international investors and media virtually. 

Previous SLA entrepreneurs have been featured on Forbes and CNN and received brand endorsements after pitch day. In total they’ve gone on to raise $1 million, have been invested in by members of 500 startups and a lucky few even got to pitch to Aliko Dangote himself.

The top entrepreneur will walk away with N 2 million. The others receive 3 months of intensive support and access to a vast network of mentors and investors.

How The Program Works

Step 1: Put together a top-notch application package, ace the semi-final interviews and get selected by the SLA team. You can find tips and advice here.

Step 2: Spend 1 week with the SLA team being trained in business skills and getting access to some of Africa’s top business minds.

Step 3: Spend the next weeks implementing the lessons learned, meet with the other members of your cohort to learn together and watch the results roll in. You’ll have access to the SLA team for any help or guidance you may need.

Step 4: Investor Dinner! Present your business to a room filled with investors and media. No joke: Previous SLA entrepreneurs have been featured on Forbes and CNN. They’ve gone on to raise almost $1mn. A lucky few even got to pitch to Aliko Dangote himself.

Step 5: The top entrepreneur will walk away with cash money for their business. The others will have received 3 months of intensive support and may well hook a few investors in the process!

When: April 12th – 14th 2016

The SLA Accelerator* is a 3-month program designed to identify, support and fund the next generation of Nigeria’s brightest female entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs will receive exclusive access and mentorship from some of Nigeria’s leading business personalities, pitch day in front of local and international investors and features in local and international media outlets.

She Leads Africa and VC4Africa will be hosting information sessions so that potential applicants can speak directly with the organizing team on how to submit a successful application, what the review committee will be looking for and what makes a high quality pitch deck.

  • The winner of the Demo Day will receive a N2mn investment from She Leads Africa Fund.

– Monday April 11 at 10am at CcHub, Herbert Macaulay, Yaba, Lagos
– Tuesday April 12 at 5pm at Cre8, Agoro Odiyan, Victoria Island, Lagos
– Wednesday April 13 at 3pm at Oxfam, Ganges Street, Maitama, Abuja
– Thursday April 14 at 3pm at Enterprise Creative, George Enenmoh Close, Lekki, Lagos
– Monday April 18 at 10am via an online webinar

How do you apply?

Step 1: Check our eligibility requirements to make sure you can apply.
Step 2: Review the application form.
Step 3: Study all the resources that SLA has created to give you guidance on how to put together a winning application.
Step 4: Attend an info or training session during the week of April 11. These are being held in person in Lagos and Abuja or online.
Step 5: Get your application materials together and press send before the May 31 deadline.

What’s the process?

  1. Put together a top notch application package, ace the semi-final interviews and get selected by the review committee.
  2. In July spend 1 week of residency at SLA HQ in Lagos being trained by the SLA team and connecting with some of Nigeria’s most prominent business and operational experts.
  3. Return home for 3 weeks, implement the lessons you’ve learned and reach out to the SLA team whenever you need support.
  4. Repeat the 1 week residency in August and September.
  5. Join us in Lagos for Demo Day in October. Pitch your business to a room of local and international investors and media. Previous SLA entrepreneurs have been featured on Forbes and CNN and received brand endorsements after pitch day. In total they’ve gone on to raise $1 million and a lucky few even got to pitch to Aliko Dangote himself.
  6. The top entrepreneur will walk away with a N 2 million investment from the SLA team in exchange for 7% equity. The others receive 3 months of intensive support and access to a vast network of mentors and investors.
