The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants fellowships for international highly qualified PhD students and young post-doctoral researchers to pursue their research in Turkey in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. The program aims to promote Turkey’s scientific and technological collaboration with countries of the prospective researchers.

The purpose of the program is to advance international cooperation of Turkey in science and technology by providing financial support to international young researchers who have received their PhD or are still registered to a doctoral program abroad

Requirements:

  1. Being a foreign citizen,
  2. As from the deadline of the application, having registered to a doctoral program abroad and being successful in the PhD qualifying exam or having completed his PhD,
  3. Having an invitation letter from the universities or research institutes in Turkey*
  4. Certifying that they have sufficient command of language, which will be used in the proposed research,
  5. Being 35 years old or younger as from the application deadline.

*Those having received their doctorates from a university in Turkey are required to receive an invitation letter from a different university than his/her university that they received their doctorates, and carry out their research with an academic advisor(s) other than their doctoral thesis advisor.

The program aims to promote Turkey’s scientific and technological collaboration with countries of the prospective researchers. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the potential to contribute significantly to Turkey’s goal of international cooperation in scientific and technological development.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens. Applicants who hold dual citizenship with Turkey are   not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants should have an invitation from the universities or research institutes in Turkey.
  • Applicants should certify that they have sufficient command of language to perform their research.
  • Applicants must be 35 years old or younger.
  • Applicants should be enrolled in a program in abroad for PhD students.
  • Applicants who hold a PhD degree in Turkey should have a GPA minimum of 3.50/4.00 in PhD program.

Amount

Maximum duration for the fellowship is 12 months.

  • A monthly stipend of 2.250 Turkish Liras.
  • Travel costs (round trip up to  2250 TL) and Health insurance premiums (up to 2250 TL)*. In case of approval of TÜBİTAK Department of Science Fellowships and Grant Programs (BİDEB) Steering Committee, travel costs and health insurance for the fellow may be partially covered.

*All fellows should send the receipts of their travel and insurance expenses for the reimbursement via mail to TÜBİTAK.

Timeline:

2015 Tübitak Graduate Scholarships for International students seeking to pursue a graduate degree in Turkey

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants scholarships for international students seeking to pursue a graduate degree in Turkey. The scholarship covers fields of

  • Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Eligibility Requirements:

The scholarship is open to all students who want to undertake a graduate degree program in Turkey on the following conditions:

  • Applicants must be 30 years old or younger for the MSc/MA programs and 35 years old or younger for the PhD programs on the first day of the application period.
  • Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens. Applicants who hold dual citizenship with Turkey are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree or who are currently enrolled in their fourth year of college are eligible to apply for scholarship for the MSc/MA programs.
  • Applicants who are currently enrolled in an MSc/MA program in Turkey are also eligible for the Msc/MA scholarship on the condition that they have not yet completed their third semester in the program.
  • Applicants holding an MSc/MA degree or currently enrolled in a master’s program who intend to enroll in a PhD program in Turkey are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicants who are currently enrolled in a PhD program in Turkey are also eligible to apply on the condition that they have not yet completed their six semester in the program.

Scholarship Worth:

The scholarship will consist of

  • A monthly stipend of 1.500 Turkish Liras (TL) for MSc/MA students
  • A monthly stipend of 1.800 Turkish Liras (TL) for PhD students
  • Tuition Fee (up to 2.000 Turkish Liras)
  • A monthly allowance for health insurance coverage for the award holder only.
  • Maximum duration for the scholarship is 2 years for the Masters and 4 years for the PhD program.
  • All scholarship awardees who successfully complete a Master’s program will be rewarded scholarship for a PhD program on the condition that they are admitted to a program at a Turkish University.

  • Application form (This form is filled electronically on the online application portal)
  • Copy of birth certificate or passport (pages of personal information)
  • Copy of Bachelor’s  and Master’s degree* (If any)
  • Copy of Undergraduate and Graduate transcripts* (If any)
  • A motivation letter (Statement of purpose)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two reference letters
  • Certificates of achievement (if any)

* The documents must be English or Turkish. Officially translated copy of the documents can be used in the application.

During the application, the original copies of required documents are not demanded. However, applicants who receive the scholarship must send the original copy of required documents in order to be able to use their scholarships.

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants  scholarships for international students seeking to pursue a graduate degree in Turkey  in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical  Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. The program aims  to promote Turkey’s scientific and technological collaboration with countries of the  prospective students.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the  potential to contribute significantly to Turkey’s goal of international cooperation in  scientific and technological development.
Who Can Apply
The scholarship is open to all students who want to undertake a graduate degree  program in Turkey on the following conditions:
• Applicants must be 30 years old or younger for the MSc/MA programs and 35 years  old or younger for the PhD programs on the first day of the application period.
• Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens. Applicants who hold dual citizenship  with Turkey are not eligible to apply.
• Applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree or who are currently enrolled in their  fourth year of college are eligible to apply for scholarship for the MSc/MA programs.
• Applicants who are currently enrolled in an MSc/MA program in Turkey are also  eligible for the scholarship on the condition that they have not yet completed their  third semester in the program.
• Applicants holding an MSc/MA degree or currently enrolled in a master’s program  who intend to enroll in a PhD program in Turkey are eligible to apply for the  scholarship.
• Applicants who are currently enrolled in a PhD program in Turkey are also eligible to apply on the condition that they have not yet completed their six semester in the  program.
• Applicants who are medal winners at any branch of the International Science  Olympiads will be given priority.

Award Details
• The scholarship will consist of

  • A monthly stipend of 1.500 Turkish Liras (TL) for MSc/MA students
  • A monthly stipend of 1.800 Turkish Liras (TL) for PhD students
  • A monthly allowance for health insurance coverage for the award  holder only.
  • Tuition Fee (Up to 2.000 Turkish Liras)

• Maximum duration for the scholarship is 2 years for the Masters and 4  years for the PhD program.
• Awardees must begin their graduate program within one year of having  been notified of the award.
• All scholarship awardees who successfully complete a Master’s program  will be rewarded scholarship for a PhD program on the condition that  they are admitted to a program at a Turkish University.

  • Information about the required application documents can be obtained  from the program website at http://www.tubitak.gov.tr/bideb/2215.
  • All applications must be submitted electronically via TÜBİTAK scholarship application portal, which can be found at http://e-bideb.tubitak.gov.tr/. All  accompanying required documents must also be uploaded electronically.

Application Deadlines
Applications will be accepted twice a year. The deadline for the applications  will be announced at TÜBİTAK’s website. Candidates are encouraged to visit  the official website often for details of the program as terms and conditions  are subject to change each year.

Application deadlines for 2013 are:
• April 12th for the Spring Semester (Applications will be accepted beginning  on March 1st).
• September 27th for the Fall Semester (Application will be accepted  beginning on August 16th).
