The Economist Video Contest 2015 for filmmakers around the Globe (USD$3,000+ Prize)

Open:  Open to filmmakers around the globe and across genres.

The Economist is looking to bring that content to life through a variety of short videos geared towards teenagers.

The Economist is looking for filmmakers who can tackle the complex subjects and issues covered within the publication in a way that appeals to 14 to 17-year-olds. Filmmakers can use animation, live feeds, graphics, documentary style and more to create content that would engage a high-school student.

Videos should be 3 to 5-minutes long and must focus on a subject covered by The Economist in one of the following areas: politics, finance, international relations or technology. Entries must be in English or have English sub-titles, and no Economist branding should be contained within the submission.

Awards & Prizes
  • The first place winner receives $2,000 USD,
  • The second place winner receives $1000 USD and
  • The third place winner receives $500 USD.

2014 Richard Casement internship at the Economist in London.

The Economist is inviting applications for the 2014 Richard Casement internship. The search is for a would-be journalist to spend three months of the summer working on the newspaper in London, writing about science and technology.

The Economist is an English-language weekly news and international affairs publication owned by The Economist Newspaper Ltd. and edited in offices in London. The Econmist is Authoritative weekly newspaper focusing on international politics and business news and opinion

Applicants should write a letter introducing themselves and an original article of about 600 words that they think would be suitable for publication in the Science and Technology section. They should be prepared to come for an interview in London or New York, at their own expense. A small stipend will be paid to the successful candidate.

The Economist- Three Months Paid Internship 2013.

Application Deadline: April 2nd 2013

We are seeking a summer intern to write about foreign affairs for The Economist. The internship will last for three months and will be paid—though modestly. Anyone is welcome to apply.

Applicants should send an original unpublished article (of up to 450 words) on any issue in international politics or foreign affairs, a curriculum vitae and a covering letter, to [email protected]. We are looking for originality, crisp writing and clarity of thought. The deadline is April 2nd.
