The Andela Fellowship is a full-time employment opportunity that will enable you to own your learning as you hone the skills you need to become a global technology leader. We seek out exceptional people from a variety of backgrounds who are committed to unlocking their full potential and improving the world through technology.

Through four years of intensive learning and real work experience on the world’s leading engineering teams, you’ll master the professional and technical skills needed to become a global technology leader.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Stage 1: Join our Community

You’ll join 10,000+ aspiring tech leaders by expressing your interest and describing your motivations for leveraging Andela’s technical leadership resources. Complete a free application and personality/values assessment so we can learn how to further empower you as a tech leader.

Stage 2: Advance your Expertise 

You will leverage our open-source learning resources for software development and team skills to complete a technical assessment that will evaluate your knowledge of the content you’ve learned. You can find the downloadable version of this course here.

Stage 3: Meet us Face to Face

Based on the quality of outputs you create you may be invited to a panel of interviews made up of staff members and developers at an Andela office.

Stage 4: Simulated Sprint
Successful applicants are invited to participate in a two-week, simulated development sprint led by senior Andela developers. The two weeks comprise of one week of home-based self-learning and one week of product development on-site at an Andela campus.

You’ll be expected to learn independently as well as on a team to deliver a final project. We’re looking for work ethic, passion, and teamwork.

Stage 5: Become an Andelan

The highest performing participants are accepted into Andela’s four-year Technical Leadership Program

Application Deadline: 28th August 2017.

Home Study Test: The Home Study test is a requirement for making it through our selection process. Please study and complete the Home Study Curriculum before your test.

2014 Andela Fellowship for Young Africans (4-year, paid professional opportunity for work with world’s leading technology companies)

Boot Camp (2 weeks):

Are you a world-class developer or do you have what it takes to become one? If so, consider applying.

The Andela Fellowship is a highly-selective, 4-year, paid professional opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading technology companies.

Two percent of applicants are invited to participate in a free, two-week-long Boot Camp led by senior developers educated at some of the world’s top engineering schools. Andela Boot Camps are some of the most rigorous training experiences in the world. At the end of each Boot Camp, top performers – typically, fewer than one percent of applicants – are extended job offers as full-time Andela Fellows.

The Andela Fellowship is a new kind of academic experience. It’s sort of like a university, except instead of paying tuition, you’re earning an income. The initial months of an Andela Fellowship involve immersion training in full-stack (front-end and back-end) development skills. After 1,000 hours of instruction, Andela will place you on client projects as you continue training to ensure you are equipped to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

Overview

Boot Camp (2 weeks):
Group 1 Oct. 6-17, 2014 (Application deadline: Sept 26)
Group 2 Oct 20-31, 2014 (Application deadline: Oct 6)

This is a free two-week-long training where you will gain valuable programming skills. When it’s over, the highest-performing participants will receive job offers to join Andela full-time as Andela Fellows.

Immersion Training (3 months):

  • Nov 3, 2014 – Feb 3, 2015During a three-month-long immersion training program, Andela Fellows will receive a monthly stipend. After three months of training, you’ll be qualified to work on client projects with top technology companies.
  • Full-Time Employment:

At the end of Immersion Training, employees will be eligible for continued training and employment with Andela.
