The Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative is Jack Ma’s flagship entrepreneur program in Africa led by the Jack Ma Foundation.

The ANPI Structure

The ANPI is led by the Jack Ma Foundation in partnership with:

Nailab – an East African accelerator in Kenya and a lead partner to the ANPI

NINE – a West African partner and the largest incubator network in Nigeria

RiseUp – a North Africa partner and a platform that connects startups with resources

22 on Sloane – a Southern African partner and the largest startup campus in Africa

Requirements

The Prize will be fully inclusive. Entrepreneurs of any age, gender, and sector who are nationals from any 54 African countries are encouraged to apply.

Benefits:

US$1 million Prize Money

The Prize will host a grand finale pitch competition in Africa where ten finalists from across the continent will compete for a share of US$1 million in total grant prize money.

Announcement of the top 50 regional finalists: August 2019
Announcement of the final 10 finalists: October 2019
Grand Finale pitch event: November 2019

The Alibaba Netpreneur Training program will bring entrepreneurs and business leaders together to explore digital innovations that have the power to positively transform their local economies. The program is organized by Alibaba Business School.

Program dates:

February 16 – 27, 2019 at Alibaba’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China.

Learning Outcome:

• The key factors in Alibaba’s long-term success.

• The defining moments and failures that have shaped Alibaba’s journey (including the early stages of development).

• An understanding of Alibaba’s ecosystem.

Requirements:

Authentic, open-minded and altruistic leaders of the ‘new economy’.

• Building enterprises for long-term success, not for short-term profit.

• Mission-driven and have a strong sense of purpose, integrity, vision and drive.

• Willing to learn and share their experiences and ideas.

Enrollment criteria:

• You MUST be a founder/co-founder or business owner of an officially registered venture that has been in operation for at least 2 years.

• Applicants below 40 years old.

• You MUST provide at least 1 referral in your application (referrals from a partner/organizer are preferred).

• You MUST provide your official business license when requested during the application process.

• Female entrepreneurs and locals of the selected regions for each class are strongly encouraged to apply.

Program length:

• 10-day program hosted at Alibaba’s campus in Hangzhou

And:

• A lifelong learning and sharing experience

Benefits:

Covered:

• Hotel accommodation (shared room).

• Daily meal allowance for breakfast (included in the hotel), lunch and dinner.

• Field trip and site visit transportation costs

Not covered (costs you must personally cover):

• Air tickets and transportation/pick-up services to and from Hangzhou, China.

• Single hotel room requests (if you would like to stay in a single room you will be required to cover the full cost yourself).

• Additional food or personal expenses.
