The 2014 Thought For Food Challenge calls on the world’s best and brightest university students to form teams and develop breakthrough projects that address the global challenge of feeding 9 billion people by 2050.In return, Thought For Food will provide cutting-edge learning tools and resources, world-class mentorship from rockstar experts, innovators and entrepreneurs, the chance to win a trip to the inspirational TFF Global Summit as well as significant funding for your project. You’ll also join a growing global movement, comprised of friends and supporters who share your passion to make the world a better place. Sign ups are now open.

From september –december 2014, you will have the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary teams of 3-5 students to design and develop a game-changing venture that presents an unexpected solution to TFF challenge question:

how do we feed 9+ billion people by 2050?

In december 2014, 10 teams will be selected as Finalists and awarded $500 in seed money to advance and prototype their projects. Then, in February 2015, the 10 Finalist teams will attend a TFF startup bootcamp in lisbon, portugal led by startup pirates. our epic TFF global summit will also take place in February 2015 in lisbon.

This memorable event provides a creative playground that fosters innovation and inspiration, and gives you the chance to shine. h ere’s what we have in store for you!at our summit, you’ll meet new friends and supporters from our incredible global community of TFFers, you’ll hear mind-expanding insights from our program of eminent speakers, and the Finalist teams will pitch their projects to the world, for the chance to win $10,000 in seed funding

You’ll also join a growing global movement, comprised of friends and supporters who share your passion to make the world a better place.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Event is open to individuals 17 years of age or older at the time of registration and individuals must be enrolled in a university study program at time of entry.
In order to participate, teams must be comprised of at least 3 and no more than 5 current university students.
Universities may enter multiple teams.
Teams may be comprised of students from different universities.

Prizes:

$10,000

One Grand Prize winning team will receive a $10,000 grant for their project

$5,000

One Runner Up team will receive a $5,000 grant for their project

$500

10 Finalist teams will receive $500 to prototype their project

BENEFITS

Mentors

All participating teams get access to the TFF Design Lab and professional mentors representing a variety of fields of expertise.

Travel + Startup Bootcamp

The 10 Finalist teams will receive a trip to Lisbon, where they will take part in a custom program to acquire skills and tools that will propel their projects to the next level.

TFF Summit

Finalists will represent their university at the TFF Summit and pitch their ideas to a top-caliber judging panel.

Fame

All teams become part of the amazing TFF community of friends and supporters. They also have the chance for their ideas to gain worldwide attention by being profiled in our TFF video productions and by other media.
