Orange Tulip Scholarship Programme 2022/2023 for young South Africans to study in the Netherlands.

The Orange Tulip Scholarship programme gives talented South Africans the opportunity to study in the Netherlands. It is offered by higher education institutions and coordinated by Neso South Africa.

Requirements

  1. The scholarship is provided to you directly by the Dutch higher education institution.
  2. Orange Tulip Scholarship is a contribution that is specifically and exclusively meant to be used towards paying for the costs of a study at a designated higher education institution in the Netherlands, in a programme to which the recipient has been officially admitted.
  3. The scholarship may not be used to finance the subsistence of the student or anyone else.
  4. Any issues involving the scholarship should be dealt with directly through the institution.
  5. Nuffic Neso is not responsible for any problems that may arise between an institution and an applicant.
  6. Neither the Dutch higher education institution nor Nuffic Neso can be held accountable or liable for any consequences by illness, accidents, etc. or any other risks arising from the acceptance of an Orange Tulip Scholarship.
  7. Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients are obligated, to the best of their ability, to follow and complete the study programme for which they received the scholarship.
  8. Scholarship recipients must provide information concerning the programme and educational evaluation.
  9. During and after the studies, both Nuffic Neso and the Dutch higher education institution may approach the student to ask about his/her experiences for promotional use.

2014/2015 Netherlands Fellowship Programme to study in Holland (Masters and Short Courses)

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) promote capacity building within organisations in 50 countries by providing training and education through fellowships for professionals. The NFP is initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation.

The overall aim of the NFP is to help alleviate qualitative and quantitative shortages of skilled
manpower within a wide range of governmental, private and non-governmental organizations. This is
achieved by offering fellowships to professionals to improve the capacity of their employing
organizations.

After completing your training you return to your original workplace. This ensures the training is embedded within your organisation.

You will improve your knowledge and skills, learn about relevant global developments in your field and build an international network. The result is twofold: for your employing organisation, it represents a direct investment in staff development; for you as a professional, the training is a valuable asset in your further career.

The target group

The NFP target group consists of professionals who are nationals of and work and live in an NFP country. The chances of obtaining an NFP fellowship increase if you live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or if you are a woman.

Eligibility
A candidate applying for an NFP fellowship must:

  • be a professional with at least three years work experience;
  • be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the NFP country list valid at the time of application. If for whatever reason a candidate stays in another country than his or her home country for more than 90 days before the start of the course and/ or programme, he or she is not considered to be living and working in his or her home country;
  • be nominated by his or her employer, who pledges to continue paying the candidate’s salary  and guarantees the candidate will be able to return to an equivalent position after the  termination of the fellowship period;
  • have been unconditionally admitted to a Dutch institution for the course or programme for which the candidate applies for an NFP fellowship. This means that the candidate must have  met all the academic and administrative requirements set by the Dutch institution;

Fellowship Amount

The fellowship compensates for three main categories of costs:

a) study-related fees
b) travel and
c) subsistence.

Costs in the categories a) and b) are entirely covered by the fellowship, whereas the  amount provided in category c) is a contribution towards the actual costs. If applicable, the fellowship holder is expected to cover the difference between the actual costs and the NFP subsistence allowance.

2014 MENA Scholarship Programme to study in Holland.

The MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) offers around 140 scholarships a year to professionals. The scholarships can be used for selected short courses in the Netherlands.

The MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) was initiated by the  Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also fully funds the programme.  The MSP was set up in 2007 as a result of the growing interest, both  in the Arab world and the Netherlands, in strengthening mutual ties  in the areas of education, culture and trade.
The programme enables professionals from ten selected countries to  do a short course in the Netherlands. The scholarships are  proportionally distributed among the participating countries. Ideally,  half of the scholarships are allocated to female applicants.

For Whom:

 

  • The MENA Scholarships are distributed proportionally among the ten participating countries (Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Syria and Tunisia). Ideally, half of the scholarships are allocated to female applicants.
  • The MSP target group consists of professionals (with a maximum  age of 45) who are nationals of and working in one of the selected  countries.
  • While scholarships are awarded to individuals, the need for training  must be demonstrated in the context of the organisation for which the  applicant works.
  • The training must help the organisation develop its capacity. This means that employers must nominate an applicant and  motivate his or her application in a supporting letter.

Scholarship Worth:

  • Subsistence allowance,
  • Tuition fees,
  • Visa costs,
  • International travel costs,
  • Medical insurance

Selected courses

You can use an MSP scholarship for a number of selected short courses in one of the following fields of study:

  • Economics, commerce, management and accounting;
  • Agriculture and environment;
  • Mathematics, natural sciences and computer science;
  • Engineering;
  • Law, public administration, public order and safety;
  • Humanities, social sciences, communication and arts.

The short courses are offered by educational institutions in the Netherlands, which provide professional training at post-secondary level.

Duration

All courses have a duration of between two and twelve weeks and will start between June 2014 and February 2015.

How to apply

Applications for the MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) should be submitted to the Netherlands Embassy in your own country before the scholarship application deadline.

The application form should be accompanied by the following necessary documents

  • Evidence of proficiency in speaking and writing the language of instruction;
  • An employer’s statement (download the requirements below);
  • A complete copy of your passport or other official identity document;
  • Certified copies of educational records in English or French (provide translations if necessary);
  • A detailed curriculum vitae (CV) in English;
  • One current photo;
  • A copy of your birth certificate (if requested by the Embassy).
