The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Bursary Programme is managed and administered by Career Wise. The bursary aims to provide funding to students who intend on studying in a field related to the banks activities. The bursary will cover students from their first year of study.
Fields of study related to the South African Reserve Bank’s activities, including:
- Accounting
- Economics
- Finance
- Law
- IT (Information Technology)
- Social Work
- Dentistry
- Medicine
Requirements:
Students must meet the following minimum requirements before submitting their application – failure to meet all the requirements will result in an unsuccessful application:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must not be older than 30 years old
- Must be currently in Matric OR must have completed Matric
- Must have achieved a minimum of 70% for Matric mid-year exam results
- Must achieve good results for Matric final exams
- Must be accepted to study towards a full-time undergraduate qualification at a South African university
- Students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those in financial need will be given preference
Bursary Worth
- The SARB bursary will provide funding for: tuition, university accommodation and books.
- Recipients will also receive vacation work opportunities to be funded by the SARB.

- South African Identity Document (certified copy)
- Matric mid-year results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
- Matric final results, if completed Matric (certified copy)
- Proof of acceptance to study at a South African university
- Motivational essay explaining why you deserve to be awarded a bursary (maximum 250 words)
