Robert Bosch Stiftung 2018 Film Prizes for International Cooperation (60,000 Euros Prize & Fully Funded to Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC))

Each year the Robert Bosch Stiftung issues three Film Prizes for International Cooperation, each worth up to 60,000 euros, to mixed teams of young Arab and German filmmakers to realize a joint film project in the categories short animated film, short fiction film, and short or feature length documentary.

To facilitate the team-finding process, up to twenty Arab directors will be invited to meet with up to fifteen German producers at the Project Market Amman which takes place in cooperation with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) from April 20 to 25, 2018. The Robert Bosch Stiftung will cover the costs for travel, accommodation and catering.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for the application are directors, who are residents of one member staet of the Arab League, and producers resident from Germany.
  • Both should be in the beginning of their cinematographic career.
  • The communication language of the Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung is English. All entries to this platform must be in English.

How to Apply:

  • To apply for the Project Market Amman, filmmakers must register here at the Online Project Market and fill in and upload all requested data.
  • Arab directors must submit as project information a one-page logline and synopsis or project description, and provide a link to their recent film. A script or treatment should be available on request

Robert Bosch Stiftung 2017 Film Prizes for International Cooperation (60,000 Euros Prize & Fully Funded to Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC))

Each year the Robert Bosch Stiftung issues three Film Prizes for International Cooperation, each worth up to 60,000 euros, to mixed teams of young Arab and German filmmakers to realize a joint film project in the categories short animated film, short fiction film, and short or feature length documentary.

Requirements

  • Young filmmakers in the fields of directing, production, camera, and screenwriting are given an opportunity to explore the methods and creative styles of their partner country.
  • Eligible are joint production teams of young filmmakers from an Arab country (one of the 22 members of the Arab League) and Germany who are in the beginning of their career.
  • The film should be produced in Germany as well as the partner country, stressing in particular the aspect of intercultural exchange.

To facilitate the team-finding process, twenty Arab directors will be invited to meet with fifteen German producers at the Project Market Amman which takes place in cooperation with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) from April 23 to 28, 2017.

Deadline for submission will be March 08, 2017. Date of Notification, if you are selected or not, will be by March 27, 2017.

2015 Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab for Screenwriters (Fully Funded Screenplay Development Workshop in Jordan)

Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab is an annual five-day screenplay development workshop aimed at independent Arab screenwriters working on their first or second narrative feature screenplays.

In 2005 the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) launched Rawi (Storyteller), a screenplay development lab, in consultation with the Sundance Institute. Independent Arab screenwriters (Fellows) are offered the chance to develop their work in a uniquely creative environment under the guidance of internationally acclaimed screenwriters from all over the world (Creative Advisors).

The eleventh round of Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab will take place from November 9th to November 13th, 2015 in Jordan whereby 4 to 8 screenwriters will be selected to participate in this year’s round.

In 2015, four to eight screenwriters (Fellows) will be selected to join the lab and experience one-on-one mentoring sessions from internationally acclaimed screenwriters (Advisors) from all over the world. The emphasis of the lab is to develop the writer’s individual voice as a storyteller. Advisors and fellows will engage in an in depth dialogue about the craft of screenwriting and rewriting process, as well as the fellows’ individual vision for their story.

Eligibility:

  • Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab is open for screenwriters, co-writers, or writers/directors.
  • Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab is aimed at Arab screenwriters only. Arabs who live outside of the region can also apply if their parents are from the Middle East, North Africa or the Gulf.
  • Screenwriters working on their first or second narrative feature screenplay can apply.
  • Applicants must submit a COMPLETE NARRATIVE FEATURE SCREENPLAY.
  • Only Arab screenwriters/filmmakers are eligible to apply, regardless of their country of residence.

Cost/Benefits

  • Rawi is one of the programs of the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC), and all expenses including participants’ travel and accommodation will be covered by the RFC.
