Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) non-EEA Scholarships of Excellence 2021/2022 for Study in the Netherlands

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University offers scholarships to prospective MSc students from non-EEA countries who are not entitled to pay the EEA tuition fee, provided their grades are considered ‘excellent’.

Partial tuition fee waiver

  • The scholarship is granted in the form of a tuition fee waiver and covers up to 50% of the non-EEA tuition fee (€ 18,700 in 2021-2022)
  • No actual transmission of money takes place. The scholarship part will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee before the start of the academic year 2021/2022, enabling you to immediately pay the reduced tuition fee; either at once or in instalments;
  • The student will receive the scholarship for one academic year, maximum 12 months.

For whom?

Application is open for prospective MSc students from all non-EEA countries who do not have a degree yet from an educational institution in the Netherlands, starting their studies in 2021/2022.

In principle, a fair distribution of scholarships over the various MSc programmes will take place. This principle may be deviated from and priority may be given to applicants for certain MSc programmes. The school may strive for a certain distribution over the continents. The school may give preference to students with one of the following nationalities:

  • Brazilian
  • Russian
  • Indian
  • Chinese
  • Taiwanese/Korean/Filipino
  • Indonesian/Vietnamese/Thai
  • Iranian/Iraqi
  • Azerbaijani/Georgian
  • Turkish
  • African (all countries)
  • Mexican

Selection criteria

  • Excellence for applicants with a Bachelor of Science from non-Dutch universities is proven if the average grade over the entire programme at the time of application is at least the equivalent of the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale 1 – 10. The Scholarship Committee will decide on the local grade equivalents for the Dutch grade of 8.0 using the grade information included in (a.o.) the Nuffic country modules. Additionally, a GMAT score of at least 700 is required;
  • Only students who are not recipients of any other scholarships exceeding the amount of € 5,000 in total in that same academic year can apply for the scholarship;
  • By accepting this scholarship you agree to assist the RSM Recruitment and Admissions Office in the role of an Ambassador with promotional and support activities for approximately 8 hours per month during the academic year;
  • By accepting this scholarship you agree to start your visa procedure before 1 June 2021. RSM holds the right to cancel your scholarship if you have not started your visa procedure and holds the right to offer the scholarship to a student on the scholarship waiting list.

Application procedure

First step is to register for the Master programme in Studielink. Once you have registered yourself, you will receive a link to our Online Application Form (OLAF).

It is not possible to apply for a specific scholarship in OLAF. RSM will determine whether you will be awarded a scholarship and – if so – which specific scholarship. RSM will only take your scholarship application into consideration as long as you meet the minimum requirements and meet the deadline(s).

Required documents:

  • A scholarship application letter in OLAF of maximum 1 A4 size page, including the following information:
    – an explanation why you would need a scholarship, comprising a description of your current financial situation
    – an explanation why you would deserve a scholarship, comprising a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits
  • A budget plan using this template
  • If applicable: certified copies of other scholarships granted

Please note that we can only take the scholarship application into consideration when it is complete and meets all of the requirements.

When to apply?

  • Applicants for all RSM MSc programmes (except for the MSc International Management-CEMS) can apply for the scholarship between 1 October 2020 and 1 March 2021;
  • Applicants for the MSc International Management/CEMS can apply for the scholarships between 1 October 2020 and 31 January 2021.

Decisions

The scholarship committee will determine award recipient(s) on 15 April 2021.

Holland Government Scholarship 2020 for study at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University

The Erasmus University Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. This scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to start their bachelor’s or master’s at RSM.

Amount

  • The scholarship amounts to € 5,000 for maximum 12 months, one academic year;
  • You will receive this in the first year of your studies;
  • The scholarship amount will be paid per month after you have paid the full tuition fee amount;

Requirements:

  • Your nationality is non-EEA;
  • You are a prospective student, starting your studies in the academic year 2020/2021;
  • You are applying for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s programme at RSM;
  • You meet the specific requirements of the programme you are applying for;
  • You do not have a degree from an educational institution in the Netherlands (excluding exchange programmes in the Netherlands).

  • For prospective students who have also attended higher education after secondary education grades obtained in higher education will be considered as well. The RSM Scholarship Committee will decide on the local grade equivalents for the Dutch grade of 8.0 using (a.o.) the grade information included in the Nuffic country modules;
  • Only students who are not recipients of any other scholarships exceeding the amount € 5,000 in total in that same academic year can apply for the scholarship;

For the academic year 2019/2020, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) will grant several partial scholarships, depending on the quality of the applicants, for selected students from non-EEA countries who are not entitled to pay the EEA tuition fee and whose grades in their previous programmes are considered ‘excellent’.

Partial tuition fee waiver

  • For the scholarship, no actual transmission of money takes place. The scholarship part will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee (€ 18,000) before the start of the academic year 2019/2020, enabling you to immediately pay the reduced tuition fee; either at once or in instalments;
  • The student will receive the scholarship for one academic year, maximum 12 months. Please note, for MSc programmes longer than 12 months you need to have sufficient resources to finance your studies for the remaining months of the programme;
  • The value of the partial scholarship is between 30-70% of the full non-EEA tuition fee.

  • if applicable: scanned copies of other scholarships granted (later on you will be asked to provide a certified copy);

Please note that we can only take the scholarship application into consideration when it is complete and meets all of the requirements. This includes a minimum GMAT test score of 700, sufficient English test results and a scholarship application letter.

When to apply?

Applicants for the MSc International Management/CEMS can apply for the scholarships between 10 October 2018 and 31 January 2019.

Applicants for MSc programmes (except for the MSc International Management-CEMS) can apply for the scholarship between 10 October 2018 and 1 March 2019.

Application for the scholarship is open for prospective IBA students (thus, not currently enrolled students) starting their studies in 2017/2018 from all non-EEA countries, provided they would be charged the non-EEA tuition fee. The school may give preference to students with one of the following nationalities:

  • Brazilian

  • Indonesian / Vietnamese / Thai

How to apply?

When applying for the IBA programme in the online application form (OLAF) you will be asked to upload documents which will be used for evaluating your application. During this process you can also upload your scholarship application letter (maximum 1 A4 size page). The application letter should include the following information:

  • an explanation why you would need a scholarship, comprising a description of your financial situation;
  • an explanation why you would deserve a scholarship, comprising a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits.
  • if applicable: certified copies of other scholarships granted;
  • a signed statement indicating that other scholarships awarded do not exceed the amount of 5,000 euro in total;
  • the following documents are not required if you have already uploaded these for admission to the IBA programme: certified copies of the secondary education academic transcript (certified list of grades), and if applicable certified copies of transcripts from a higher education institution: to date, as available at the moment of application (normally already part of your application package).Note

    : Candidates who have fulfilled all the minimum requirements before 1 March will be given priority.

Scholarship Worth:

  • The scholarship takes the form of a waiver being the amount of money that will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee.
  • The waiver fully covers the difference between the non-EEA tuition fee and the EEA tuition fee.
  • You will always have to pay at least the statutory tuition fee.  For the scholarship, no actual transmission of money takes place.
  • The scholarship part of the non-EEA tuition fee will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee before the start of the academic year, enabling you to immediately pay the reduced tuition fee; either at once or in instalments.

The amount of the scholarship for the academic year 2017/2018 is approximately 6,900 euro.
