One Young World has launched the 2014 Essay Competition in partnership with Prospect Magazine.
In a recent poll of One Young World Ambassadors 54% said that attitudes toward young people in their country limit their participation in politics and 65% said their government does not prioritise the needs of young people.
Delegates and Returning Ambassadors attending the 2014 Summit are called upon to submit essays in response to the question:
How would you give young people a voice in government?
The essays should be 500 words in length and will be reviewed by a panel of judges, including One Young World co-founder Kate Robertson, digital editor of Prospect Magazine Serena Kutchinsky and One Young World Counsellors Sir Bob Geldof, President Alejandro Toledo and Maya Sanbar.
The winner of the competition will:
- Present their essay on stage as a Delegate Speaker in the Leadership and Government Plenary Session at the One Young World Summit 2014 where they will share their views with the forum and watching world via live-stream.
- Have their essay published in the November issue of Prospect Magazine.
- Win a Returning Ambassador place to the One Young World Summit 2015 in Bangkok.
