University on Youth and Development – 5th Global Education and Youth Training Course for Youth Multipliers – Mollina, Spain (Fully Funded)

Are you a young key multiplier playing an active role in a youth organisation, willing to gain skills to promote and disseminate principles of Global Development Education (GDE) to other young people?

Do you want to develop competences to facilitate peer-learning processes with other young people based on the practice of GDE?

If you answered yes to the previous questions or are just curious about the subject, apply for the 5th Global Education and Youth Training Course for youth multipliers, taking place in Mollina, Spain , from 18 to 25 September 2016.

The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe together with the partners of the Network of Universities on Youth and Global Citizenship is organising the 5th Global Education and Youth Training Course for youth multipliers , in the framework of the 17th University on Youth and Development.

The training course aims to empower representatives of youth organisations to further support the practice of GDE based on the North-South Centre Global Education methodology, as well as to provide youth multipliers with a series of competences and tools to promote the principles of GDE to other young people.

The course methodology is based on a number of successful experiences of training for youth workers and youth leaders developed by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and will benefit from the knowledge of some of the best trainers and youth workers in the fields of youth co-operation and Global Education from Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean Region and Latin America.

Every year the UYD integrates in its programme the annual topic of the Network of Universities on Youth and Global Citizenship. In 2016 (18-25 September), the University on Youth and Development will celebrate its 17th edition, under the joint theme: “Connecting identities”.

The specific objectives of the UYD are:

  • to promote youth work development and youth participation as well as political mainstreaming of youth related issues and youth policy development;
  • to encourage participation of young people in decision and policy making by promoting their involvement and interaction in quadrilogue3 initiatives;
  • to provide training and capacity-building for young people and youth organisations;
  • to foster youth co-operation and Global Youth Work; and
  • to promote human rights, intercultural dialogue and democratic citizenship as essential dimensions of Global Education.

Requirements:

The participants in this training course are representatives of youth organisations. Nonetheless, we may consider applications from participants that are involved in projects or initiatives that have a multiplying effect with young people.
Concerning participants and their profile:

  • should be a key multiplier playing an active role within a youth organisation/platform or institution, and plan to continue this work in the near future;
  • have background knowledge in terms of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and youth related issues;
  • diverse social and geographical background (including disadvantaged and minority groups);
  • aged between 18 and 30;
  • have already some qualification or experience in terms of the Universities and/or international youth work and project work;
  • be committed to attend the full duration of the course and be supported by one youth organisation/platform or institution;
  • be able to work and communicate in English.
  • The selection will be carried out by the North-South Centre and the pedagogical team, in consultation with the partners of the Network of the Universities.
  • The selection process will seek gender and geographical balance and will assure representation of participants coming from different regions/Universities.

Training Methodology

  • The training methodology is based on a number of successful experiences of training for youth workers and youth leaders developed by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe. It will also benefit from the knowledge of some of the best trainers and youth workers in the fields of youth co-operation and Global Education.
  • The team of experienced trainers from Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean Region and Latin America will be responsible for further designing and implementing the methodology of the course.
  • Invited guests and experts will provide proposals for reflection in a process based on Global Education methodology. The course is a week-long programme using a variety of educational methods.
  • The use of experiential methods and workshops will strengthen the practical side of the course.
  • Prior and/or after the residential training course participants will be highly encouraged to apply and participate in any of the e-learning training courses of the NSC to further improve their knowledge on human rights, intercultural dialogue and/or democratic citizenship.

Logistics:

  • The North-South Centre will do its best to issue a pre-paid ticket. In exceptional cases, participants might advance the booking of the international flight and reimbursement will be done fully or in an agreed amount.
  • Please do not proceed with any booking until confirmation of selection and agreement regarding travel arrangements.
  • Local transfers between Malaga Airport and Antequera-Santa Ana/Bobadilla train stations will be organised by the partners of the 17th University on Youth and Development.
  • Board and lodging will be assured in CEULAJ by the organisers for the entire duration of the course (including breakfast, lunch, dinner and two daily coffee-breaks). Participants will be accommodated in double/triple rooms.
  • It is expected that participants/background organisation support the expenses related with local transports in the home country and transit and visa costs.

  • A recommendation letter from the organisation clearly stating the added value and possible follow-up of the participation of the applicant in the training course should be sent (scan version) in the same email with the application form. This letter should be signed and stamped.

6th Training Course for Youth Leaders of the African Diaspora Living in Europe Training of Trainers, Nairobi Kenya (Fully Funded)

6th Training Course for Youth Leaders of the African Diaspora Living in Europe Training of Trainers.

Within the framework of the Africa-Europe Youth Co-operation above mentioned and encouraged by the success and demand of the previous training courses (Almada- Portugal- in 2009, in Praia/São Francisco – Cape Verde in 2010),Braga/Portugal in 2012, Hammamet, Tunisia in 2013 and Mollina in 2014) and of the thematic Seminar on the African Youth Diaspora and the Millennium Development Goals (held in Spain in 2011), the North- South Centre of the Council of Europe will continue to invest in organising a capacity-building activity for youth organisations from the African Youth Diaspora living in Europe.
The sixth Training Course will be organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in co-operation with the African Diaspora Youth Network in Europe (ADYNE). The Course will be organised in the framework of the 7th African University on Youth and Development, from the 8th to the 15th November 2015.

At the political level the Diaspora is considered by the African Union as the 6th region of Africa and the 6th building block of the African Union. These groups are also important actors for youth co-operation and represent for the hosting societies an immense richness in terms of human resources, intercultural opportunities and possibilities for relationship with the origin societies. The Youth organisations and youth groups from the African Diaspora living in Europe are fundamental actors for the Youth Co-operation.

In this occasion the training course for the African Diaspora Youth living in Europe will be “Training”. As such, the training course has two main aims:

  • To empower young people to further support the practice of Global Education (GE) based on NSC GE methodology and programme (Global Education Guidelines and online training courses), as well as;
  • To develop competences of participants that are actively involved in organizations of African Diaspora Youth Living in Europe and contribute to a network of qualified trainers in this field.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The participants in this course are trainers of youth organisations and youth groups of African origin living in Europe and/or working/interested to work directly with African Diaspora youth.
  • The course is open for residents of all member-states of the Council of Europe.

Concerning participants and their profile:

  •  Should be from African origin or working/interested to work directly with the African diaspora youth community, playing an active role within a youth organisation, network or service at local, national or regional level, and plan to continue this work in the near future;
  • Aged between 18 and 30;
  • Have already some qualification or experience in terms of international youth work and proving training;
  • Be committed to attend the full duration of the course and be supported by a youth organisation or service;
  • Be able to present the context of their work, their way of tackling problems, the challenges they meet and identify;
  • Be able to work and communicate in English.
  • The selection process will take into consideration organisational, gender and geographical balance.

Training Methodology

  • The training course will be a residential programme of 6 days, and it will be held in Nairobi (Kenya), from the 8th November 2015 (arrival day) to the 15th November 2015 (departure day).
  • The pedagogical team of the course will be composed of 3/4 experienced trainers in Euro-African co-operation and project/organisational management.
  • The pedagogical team will be responsible to further design and implement the methodology of the course. Invited guests and experts will provide proposals for reflection in a process based on global education and participant-centred methodologies.
  • The training methodology is based on a number of successful experiences of training for youth workers and youth leaders developed by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.
  • The programme will include a variety of educational methods such as: thematic and political inputs and discussions, new technologies, reference documents, simulation exercises, group dynamics, interactive role plays, good practices sharing, etc.
  • The course will gather youth from, working with or interested to work with the African Diaspora active in youth organisations in the hosting societies or leading African Diaspora youth groups and movements.

Logistics:

  • The North-South Centre will do its best to fully cover the international travel costs of all the participants. Selected participants will receive an invitation to participate from the North-South Centre in which the conditions for travel reimbursement will be outlined.
  • Local transfers from Nairobi International Airport will be organised by the partners of the 7th African University on Youth and Development.
  • Board and lodging will be assured by the organisers for the entire duration of the course (including breakfast, lunch, dinner and two daily coffee-breaks).
  • Participants will be accommodated in double/triple rooms.
  • It is expected that participants/background organisation support the expenses related with local transports in the home country and transit and visa charges.

Call for Partners: North-South Centre of the Council of Europe for the University on Youth and Development

The  University on Youth and Development is an activity organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe (NSC) in partnership with the Spanish Government (INJUVE), the European Youth Forum (YFJ), the Spanish Youth Council (CJE), the Latin American Youth Forum (FLAJ) and other international youth organisations and youth serving organisations.
Since its first edition in 2000, the University takes place once a year bringing together representatives of youth organisations and youth movements from all over the world who gather in CEULAJ (Euro-Latin-American Youth Centre) to discuss, train and be trained as wellas to take political action around the main issues on the global agenda.
In 2015, the University on Youth and Development will celebrate its 16th edition, under the joint theme “Youth.org: Actors for Change!” and renewed hopes and aspirations, objectives and challenges are shared between partners to reinforce this space as the home of the Global Education and of the Global Youth Movement
The overall objectives of the University on Youth and Development are to promote youth work development and youth participation as well as political mainstreaming of the youth related issues and youth policy development; to reinforce capacity-building of civil society organisations; to foster youth co-operation and Global Youth Work; and to promote human rights, intercultural dialogue and democratic citizenship as essential dimensions of global education.
Form and deadline
The enclosed form, proposing an activity to be held at the 16th University on Youth and Development, should be returned to the North-South Centre by email, by 12th March 2015 to [email protected].-
Criteria for selection of proposals :
  • Organised by youth and youth serving organisations and having young people as target group (age between 18-35);
  • have a theme and aims to constitute a relevant contribution to the aims of the University, (activities related to capacity building and youth empowerment);
  • have a Global or Interregional scope (i.e. Euro-Mediterranean, Afro-Asian, Euro-African,etc.), both in terms of the participants and the content. The University partners will particularly value activities involving non-European participants;
  • Involve a maximum of 25 participants (including team);
  • Seek gender balance in terms of the participants;
  • Connection with joint theme “Youth.org: actors for change!” is an asset;
  • commitment with Global Education and Non- Formal Education principles and values;
  • Commitment of the partner towards the Joint Programme of the University.
Activities organised in partnership between various organisations and resulting in partnerships and co-operation processes are highly encouraged. The University itself is a result of these kinds of synergies.
What is covered?
  • Rooms and facilities for the activities
  • Basic equipment and materials
  • Interpretation: English and Spanish for plenary sessions of the Joint Programme
  • Insurance for all participants during their journey and stay in UYD
  • Partners’ commitments and responsibilities towards the University
The UYD is organised around the principle of economy of scale which reduces the overall cost by doing things together. This principle also means that all partners are asked to contribute for the collective costs of the University respective to the asymmetric financial capacities of each of the partners and relative to the size of the activities.
A minimum contribution of 500€ and a maximum of 3.500€ is the foreseen contribution from each of the activities/partners.
  • The partners decide together where these contributions are used (transfers, joint programme, expenses related with guests).
  • Each partner is equally responsible for the board and lodging and travel costs of the participants involved in its respective activity (close travel terminals: Airport of Malaga-AGP and the train station of Antequera-Santa Ana).
  • A special fee of 30€ (per person, per day) will be charged by CEULAJ/INJUVE for board and lodging. Each
    partner is responsible for covering these costs related with its group. The fee includes accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and two coffee-breaks) and access to all sports facilities.
  • Each partner will, at a later stage, proceed with reservation form with CEULAJ and deal directly with the youth centre for invoice/payment.

10th AFRICA- EUROPE Training Course for Youth Organisations, Nairabi Kenya.

Organised by the North-South Centre in the framework of the Joint Management Agreement between the European Commission– EuropeAid Co-operation Office and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe

The 10th AFRICA- EUROPE Training Course for Youth Organisations to be held between 25 January and 1 February 2015 Nairobi, Kenya In the framework of the 6 th African University on Youth and Development.

Encouraged by the success of the previous Africa-Europe Training Courses and the demand for capacity building opportunities expressed by youth leaders in the Africa-Europe Youth Co-operation, the North-South Centre will run the 10th edition of this programme.
The course is organised in co-operation with the European Youth Forum, the Pan-African Youth Union and the Network of International Youth Organisations in Africa. During the course, participants will develop competences and tools to strengthen theirpolitical participation in the context of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership and develop competences for the capacity-building of their organisations as civil society actors in the development process.

Furthermore, the course is a unique opportunity to give practical and political follow-up andimplementation to some of the outcomes of the Africa-Europe Youth Summits, the Africa- Europe Youth Leaders Meeting of 2011 and the AEYP meetings (November 2012 and 2013).
The week-long course can accommodate up to 20 participants. Active participation and in-depth reflection are key features of the course. Participants will compare their approaches to youth work and youth participation, engaging in the implementation and evaluation of the programme with the team of trainers.
This Training Course is an opportunity given to youth leaders from Africa and Europe to share, better understand and integrate the objectives set at the international level in their work and contribute to their achievement. Some of these objectives (mentioned above) inscribed in the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership, help enable youth to take an active part in these strategies at the national and regional level and be further equipped to participate.
Profile of Participants
The participants in this course are representatives of youth organisations in Europe and Africa. For the European participants the course is open for residents of all member- states of the Council of Europe. African, national and international youth organisations are invited to propose candidates for this course. The selection will be carried out by the North- South Centre in consultation with partners of the training course

  • Transfers from and to the airport in Nairobi will be assured by organisers.
  • It is expected that participants/background organisation support the expenses related with local transport in the home country, as well as visa and necessary vaccination costs.

WHAT: 5th Training Course for Youth Leaders of the African Diaspora Living in Europe

The objective of the Youth Co-operation Programme of the Centre in terms of youth is to provide training and capacity building for young people and youth organizations as well as to facilitate their participation in decision and policy making, in the framework of quadrilogue initiatives.

The fifth Training Course will be organized by the North – South Centre of the Council of Europe in co-operation with the African Diaspora Youth Network in Europe (ADYNE). The Course will be organised in the framework of the 15 th University on Youth and Development , from the 2 1 st to the 2 8th September 2014.

Participant Profile:

  • Should be from African origin or working/interested to work directly with the African diaspora youth community, playing an active role within a youth organisation, network or service at local, national or regional level, and plan to continue this work in the near future;
  • Aged between 18 and 30;
  • Have already some qualification or experience in terms of international youth work and project management;
  • Be committed to attend the full duration of the course and be supported by a youth organisation or service;
  • Be able to present the context of their work, their way of tackling problems, the challenges they meet and identify;
  • Be able to work and communicate in English.

The Youth Co-operation Programme is composed by 3 main dimensions :

  • A Euro Arab and Mediterranean dimension that in cludes a new capacity- building programme that it is being developed in 2014 focused on “Structured Participation in Democratic Processes”. A first pilot training activity will take place in the 2nd edition of the Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citizenship.
  • The Network of Universities on Youth and Global Citizenship that gathers the different Universities in a coherent and articulated system and brings together relevant youth organisations and institutions working in regional co-operation processes, global education and global youth work. A 15th edition of the University on Youth and Development will be organized in Mollina, Spain (21- 28 September 2014).
  • The Africa-Europe Youth Co-operation activities in the framework of the “Joint Management Agreement” signed with the European Commission in November 2008 and renewed until 2015. This agreement includes the organisation of training activities, an Online Resource Centre (www.aeyco.com) a Seed Funding grant and the meetings of the Africa-Europe Youth Platform

During the course participants will develop competences to strengthen the role they play with regard to Euro- African Co-operation and to develop the capacity of their organisations as civil society actors. Participants will exchange e experiences and strategies to empower the youth community of Africans Living in Europe and to empower also actions developed from a local level to achieve the global goals involved within the Euro-African co-operation framework.

Call for Rapporteur: University on Youth and Development in Spain (1000€ Stipend)

The UYD is an activity organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, the Spanish Government (INJUVE), the European Youth Forum (YFJ), the Spanish Youth Council (CJE) and other international youth organisations. PROFILE

All applicants must comply with the following criteria:

  • Be aged between 18-35;
  • Be motivated by global youth work;
  • Have good writing skills, ability and experience in summarising and reporting different messages;
  • Have a good command of English. Knowledge of other languages is desirable (Spanish,French,Arabic)
  • Involvement in previous editions of the University on Youth and Development (as participant, volunteer, trainer, organizer) and/or other Universities of the Network of Universities on Youth and Global Citizenship, will be considered an asset.
  • Have previous experience as editor/co-author of publications in the Youth field;
  • Be committed to take part in the entire duration of the activity, for preparatory work and necessary follow-up

TECHNICAL DETAILS

  • The University on Youth and Development will take place in Euro-Latin-American Youth Centre (CEULAJ), in Mollina (Málaga-Spain), from 21st to 28th September;
  • Travel arrangements will be made by the North- South Centre of the Council of Europe for pre-paid flight tickets;
  • Board and lodging will also be provided by NSC at the CEULAJ;
  • The Rapporteur is expected to arrive at the CEULAJ/Mollina on the 19th September (morning) and departure on 28th September;
  • The working languages of the University shall be English and Spanish
  • The Rapporteur will receive a fee of 1000€ (one thousand euros) for the fulfilment of the above-mentioned tasks
  • The payment of the fee will be done up to 4 weeks aftersubmitting the final report.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
