The New and Emerging Talent Initiative (NETI) is an entry point for dynamic professionals interested in an international career with UNICEF. NETI participants will work actively in a multicultural environment within the development and humanitarian arenas, while contributing to delivering results for children

ARE YOU A NETI? 

  1. Are you proficient in English and another official language of the UN i.e. Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish?
  2. Have you completed an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent)?
  3. Do you have 2-5 years of professional work experience?
  4. Are you willing to serve in any UNICEF office worldwide, including hardship duty stations?

If you answer ‘”yes” to the questions above, you are encouraged to apply for the NETI 7th Cohort Recruitment Campaign.

Eligibility and NETI Programme Requirements

NETI participants are motivated and talented entry to mid-career level professionals who are interested in an international career with UNICEF and who have a passion for making a difference for children worldwide.

The following candidates are eligible to apply to the NETI Programme:

  1. UNICEF National Professional Officers and General Service staff;
  2. UNICEF staff members holding a temporary appointment;
  3. UNICEF Junior Professional Officers (JPOs) who have completed at least 15 months of the JPO Programme;
  4. External candidates from outside UNICEF.

Training and Development Opportunities

NETI participants have the opportunity to go through a unique learning and development path. The NETI Programme begins with a three-week Induction at UNICEF’s New York Headquarters (NYHQ). As part of the Induction, participants also attend learning sessions to further increase their familiarity with the processes of the organisation.

Insight into HQ Operations and International Placement

Insight into HQ operations

During the three-week induction at UNICEF’s New York Headquarters, NETI participants get an overview of the organisation’s strategies, initiatives and challenges. NETI participants are also provided with networking opportunities with New York Headquarters’ staff, in order to better understand the functional areas they will be working in during their field assignment.

International Placement

UNICEF is the leading advocate for children’s rights, active in 190 countries through country programmes and National Committees. NETI participants are expected to be geographically mobile and willing to serve in emergency and hardship duty stations based on the needs of the Organisation.

Mentoring, Coaching & Support

During their work appointments, NETI participants receive dedicated support for their development at the three-week Induction and through the mentoring and external coaching components, which help develop their personal and professional skills and maximize their performance. In addition, continuous support is provided by each participant’s respective supervisor in his/her assigned duty station.

 

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Scale for Professional and Higher Categories
The salary scales for the Professional and higher categories are expressed as gross and net base salaries and applied uniformly, worldwide, by all organisations in the United Nations common system. The NETI Programme is currently recruiting candidates for the 7th Cohort through eRecruitment until the deadline of 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on 23 September 2014. Selected NETI participants are expected to start in early 2015.
