Each year, Nedbank offer bursaries to students in need of financial assistance toward their studies. So, if you are thinking of studying towards a university degree but don’t have the financial means, the Nedbank Bursary Fund may be the solution you’re looking for.

The following are some of the questions we’ll ask when considering your application for a bursary:

Are you a South African citizen?
Do you contribute to Nedbank’s transformation targets?
Have you achieved enough academically? Specifically, have you earned at least a 65% average pass mark, while also meeting all of the registration criteria of a South African public university or university of technology?
Where do you score on a financial means test?
Does the degree you are applying for meet a scarce skill that we’ve identified at Nedbank or for the greater good of South Africa?

Each year Nedbank awards bursaries to help students with the costs of higher education. So if you’re thinking of studying towards a university degree but don’t have the financial means, the Nedbank Bursary Fund could be your opportunity to study at university.

Requirements:

When Nedbank consider you for a bursary, we ask ourselves the following questions:

Are you a South African citizen?
Do you contribute to Nedbank’s transformation targets?
Have you achieved enough academically?
Specifically, have you earned at least a 65% average pass mark, while also meeting all the registration criteria of a SA public university or university of technology?
Where do you score on a financial means test?
Does your degree meet a scarce skill we’ve identitied at Nedbank or for the greater good of South Africa?

Benefits:

A NEDBANK BURSARY COVERS THE FOLLOWING COSTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES AT SOUTH AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES AND UNIVERSITIES OF TECHNOLOGY:

full time tuition;
prescribed textbooks;
accommodation;
meals; and
a monthly stipend to cover the
cost of out-of-pocket expenses.

The bursary only funds studies in the next academic year and cannot be used

to pay for existing or previous study loans or tuition expenses

Institutions

• Bursaries are available only to students of South African public universities registered with the Council of Higher Education or Universities of Technology.

Criteria

To qualify, you must show that you:

• have a financial need (can’t afford to pay for your own studies);

• plan to study fulltime (no bursaries are given for part-time studies); and

• applied online for a bursary within the bursary application window: 1 February – 30 April annually.

Required documents

Please attach certified copies of the following documents:

• A valid senior certificate (if you have completed grade 12) or your most recent university examination results on official stationery with a letterhead or logo.

• A valid South African identity document.

• Proof of latest income of parent(s) or guardian for three months (eg payslips or payment advices for pension or grant) or an affidavit if they are unemployed. Total family income must be shown.

• Income and expenses statement of parent(s) or guardian.

• Death certificate of parent(s) or guardian if applicable.

• Divorce certificate if applicable.

• If you are disabled, a letter from a medical doctor confirming permanent disability.
