Dell EMC Graduation Project Competition 2019 for Senior Undergraduate Students from the MENA Region (USD 12,000 Prize)

“Envision The Future” is Dell EMC’s annual graduation project competition for senior undergraduate students from universities in Turkey, Middle East and Africa. The competition is intended to spark the creativity of students for their graduation projects to play an active role in the Transformation of IT and get the opportunity to shine and win prizes.

  • Become a major contributor to the advancement of Cloud, Big Data, High Performance Computing, IOT, AR, VR and Information Security
  • Take part and transform your ideas into potential business opportunities
  • Network, learn, and prepare for the next big step in your career

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students should have a faculty member as their official academic advisor and mentor.
  • Students should have a strong academic standing, validated by the Head of their Department.
  • The correctness of the information provided by the students should be validated by the official signature and stamp of the Dean of their college/institute.
  • No students should be listed in more than one project.
  • At the time of submission, all the members of student teams should not be full time employees of any organization whatsoever, whether it is private, public, or non-governmental.

Participation Criteria:

  • The deadline for submitting Project Abstracts is 15th December 2018
  • Students who wish to participate should be in their senior year and should be enrolled in any of the Dell EMC External Research and Academic Alliance in the Turkey, Middle East and Africa region.

Prizes

Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes as below:

  •  First place will receive a cash prize of $5,000
  •  Second place will receive a cash prize of $4,000
  •  Third place winner will receive a cash prize of $3,000

All the team will get recognition certificates for their achievement.

A formal award ceremony will be organized at one of the major Dell EMC events in the region. All the members of the winning team and their academic advisor(s) will be invited to attend the ceremony along with senior officials from their university/college.

Dell EMC is launching the annual graduation project competition for senior undergraduate students from universities in Turkey, Middle East and Africa who are enrolled in the EMC Academic Alliance Program. The competition is intended to spark the creativity of students for their graduation projects to play an active role in the Transformation of IT and get the opportunity to shine and win prizes.

Eligibility Requirements:

  •   Students who wish to participate should be in their senior year and should be enrolled in any of the Dell EMC Academic Alliance Institutions of the Middle East and Africa
  •   Students should have a faculty member as their supervisor
  •   Students should be a non-governmental employees and full-time university students
  •   Authenticity of the information provided by the students should be validated by the head of his or her department
  •   Students should be listed only in one project
  •   All communication with Dell EMC will be between the project supervisor and team leader
  •   Each competing team should consists of 3-5 members and one of the team members should be selected as a team leader with the following responsibilities

Oracle Launches Capacity-Building Programme to Close IT Skills Gap in Africa.

Oracle Corporation has announced an initiative designed to enrich and increase the skills capacity of IT practitioners in Africa. The four-pronged program was devised as a response to the rapid adoption of new technologies by governments and businesses in Africa, exacerbating the shortage of suitably skilled practitioners to use the systems to best advantage.

According to Oracle, the dramatic advancement of technology over the past five years has resulted in a gap in IT competencies and skills availability. Organizations in Africa are adopting new technologies at a rate which is outstripping the availability of appropriately qualified staff.

“Today IT holds the promise to promote social inclusion, combat corruption, expand the digital economy and enable stronger links between citizens and governments, businesses and customers, NGOs and the communities they serve,” said Alfonso Di Ianni, Senior Vice President, Oracle East Central Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“They can do this and at the same time dramatically reduce costs and improve efficiency. However for technology to support such transformation, organizations must have ready access to people capable of setting up and maintaining these systems.”

2014/2015 Google Anita Borg Memorial EMEA Scholarship for Female Students.

What: The Google EMEA Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Anita Borg who devoted her life to encouraging the presence of women in computing.

The scholarship is open to current female undergraduate or graduate students who will be studying at a university in Europe, the Middle East or Africa for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship for Europe, Middle East and Africa is now open to current female students who will be enrolled in study for the 2014/2015 academic year at a university in Europe, Middle East or Africa. Students must be enrolled in a computer science, computer engineering, informatics or closely related technical program and maintain a record of strong academic performance.

Google Anita Borg Scholarship recipients will each receive a € 7,000 (or equivalent) award for the 2014-2015 academic year. A group of female undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate’s academic background, passion for increasing the involvement of women in computer science, and demonstrated leadership. All scholarship recipients will be invited to attend an annual Google networking retreat in 2014.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be a female student currently enrolled at a university for the 2013-2014 academic year
  • Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD program at a university in Europe, the Middle East or Africa for the 2014-2015 academic year
  • Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics or a closely related technical field
  • Maintain a strong academic record
