2015 FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship for International Postgraduate Study

The Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship for International postgraduate study to the value of R600,000 per annum for a maximum of two years is available to south african citizen for study outside south africa in any discipline at an internationally recognized university of his/her choice for a postgraduate degree – excellence is the only criteria for selection.

Scholarship Process

The following factors are taken into account in the awarding of the Scholarship

Academic Excellence
Leadership Qualities
Community Involvement; and
Ability to be a destiny change.

Preference is given to applicants under the age of 35 and this has to be for first-time overseas study. Applicants should have applied to and then conditionally accepted by their university of choice for the postgraduate course they wish to pursue by April 2015

 

FirstRand/Canon Collins scholarship to the University of Cambridge. The scholarship is available to South African citizens for postgraduate study in any discipline at an international university of their choice. The scholarships is worth R600 000 a year for a maximum of two years 2015 FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar scholarship for postgraduate international study.
  • This scholarship is for South African citizens to study a Masters’ degree at the University of Cambridge.
  • Full funding will be provided for the year at Cambridge Before applying for this scholarship applications for Cambridge

  • The scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence, leadership ability, community involvement and the candidate’s potential to be a destiny changer
  • Candidates who are currently, or have been studying overseas, are not eligible

2013 FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship for South Africans.

The laurie dippenaar scholarship for international postgraduate study to the value of R350 000 per annum for a maximum of two years is available to a south african citizen for study outside south africa in any discipline at the internationally recognised university of his/her choice for a postgraduate degree – excellence is the only criteria for selection.
Applications open Friday 4 January 2013 and close Friday 1 March 2013
What makes this scholarship different from most is not only the personal interest which Laurie Dippenaar, chairman of FirstRand, takes in the selection process, but also his interest in the ongoing progress of the recipient.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by the end of April 2012 and should be available for the final interviews, to be held in Sandton, during April 2013. A final announcement will be made before the end of May 2013.
Scholarship criteria are set out below. The successful candidate is required to return to South Africa for at least five years after completing his or her studies as stipulated by SARS.

Scholarship process

Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The adjudicators will not consider support beyond a two-year period. Any extension beyond the first year will be subject to satisfactory progress reports from the candidate and institution concerned at the end of the first year of study.

The decision of the adjudication panel is final and correspondence regarding their decision will not be entered into. The panel reserves the right not to make an award.
