Applications are now open for the 2024 Junior Achievement Nigeria Venture in Management Program. The Venture in Management Program (ViMP) is an annual week-long intensive program designed by JA Nigeria in partnership with Lagos Business School (LBS) to prepare selected members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and recent graduates of not more than 27 years for the workforce while introducing them to the different facets of managing a business, making crucial business decisions and developing skills for General Management.

Applications are encouraged from recent graduates who are entrepreneurs, business owners or aspiring entrepreneurs in diverse focus areas. 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Aspiring ViMP fellow must be between 18 and 27.
  • Aspiring fellow must be a Nigerian
  • Aspiring fellows must be recent graduate or currently participating in the NYSC
  • Aspiring fellows must a significant and measurable positive impact in the communities 
  • Aspiring fellows must demonstrate leadership 
  • Aspiring fellows must be able to commit their time to participate fully in the fellowship; 100% attendance, mentorship sessions, assignments, CSR project and other activities.

Selection Criteria

  • Kindly note that all applications will go through a rigorous screen process after which the top 100 candidates will be selected.

Venture in Management Program (ViMP) is an annual program of Junior Achievement Nigeria since 2000. ViMP is designed as a one-week intensive session to introduce selected members of the National Youth Service Corps to the different facets of managing a business, making crucial business decisions and developing skills for General Management. The goal of ViMP is to prepare NYSC members for the world of business as managers and entrepreneurs. This opportunity is designed to expose future business leaders to the responsibilities, opportunities, and demands of a career in management.

The weeklong program includes rigorous and stimulating classroom meetings (led by facilitators from the Lagos Business School), case studies, panel discussions, study groups, guest speakers and recreation, culminating in a strategy workshop, during which the participants present solutions to different business problems.

The learning environment mirrors that of the top business schools around the world with case studies focusing on Business Ethics, Accounting & Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Social Enterprise, General Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship. Participants also engage in a community service project and teach JAN programs in nearby elementary schools.

Requirements:

  •  Applicant must be a serving Youth Corps Member, or recently finished
  • Must be 27 years or younger
  • Must have excellent academic records (Minimum 2:1)
  • Possess proven interest in general management
  • Have a track record of leadership
  • Participation in previous JAN program will be an added advantage

Due to the coronavirus pandemic #ViMP2021 will have a hybrid mode of implementation. Successful applicants within Lagos will join in person at the LBS while those outside Lagos will join virtually.

The goal of ViMP is to prepare NYSC members for the world of business as managers and entrepreneurs. This opportunity is designed to expose future business leaders to the responsibilities, opportunities, and demands of a career in management.

The week-long program led by facilitators from The Lagos Business School (LBS), includes stimulating classroom sessions, case studies, panel discussions, networking, study groups, guest speakers and recreation, culminating in a strategy workshop, during which the participants will present solutions to real world case studies.

ViMP rivals mini-MBA’s of the world’s top business schools with case studies focusing on Business Ethics, Accounting & Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Social Enterprise, General Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
