Application Deadline: March 1, 2020 at 5:00pm EAT
Internews’ Earth Journalism Network invites journalists to apply for its second wildlife and conservation workshop to be held from March 30 to April 3 in Laikipia, Kenya.
The workshop is open to journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda and will focus on issues such as poaching, water management, human-wildlife conflicts and community-based conservation.
articipants will have the opportunity to shadow scientists in their “living lab” as they track Grevy’s zebras and African wild dogs. They’ll also meet with experts to discuss various environmental challenges, including habitat loss, land degradation and invasive plant species and explore ways many conservancies have managed to curb poaching.
In addition to these on-the-ground experiences, we’ll also offer skill-building sessions that will teach participants about photo/mobile and multimedia journalism, solutions-based reporting and how to pitch story ideas.
This workshop is part of EJN’s East Africa Wildlife Journalism project supported through a joint grant from the US Department of Interior and the US Agency for International Development. EJN will bear the travel, accommodation and meal costs of selected participants.
