Fellowship cycle : july – December, 2018  I  BANGALORE, INDIA

IDEX is a six-month fellowship experience designed for aspiring social intrapreneurs who want to take control of their career path while helping to address society’s most pressing problems.

Requirements:

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications to be eligible for the IDEX Fellowship:

  • Have a Bachelor, Masters or Graduate Degree (in any field) prior to start of program
  • Ability to perform in a high pressure environment
  • Be proficient in English (both written and spoken)
  • Can obtain an India Business visa for a minimum of six months
  • Have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional work experience
  • Have excellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal)

Pre-Departure Orientation 3 weeks (Online)

The IDEX Fellowship begins with three weeks of virtual training delivered by IDEX staff and alumni.  This orientation consists of virtual seminars, readings, and strategic deliverables to personally and professionally prepare you for your six month field experience.

Field Orientation 1 week (India)

Field Orientation is an intensive five day training and orientation event. Fellows will glean insight from professionals within India’s social impact sector, as well as undertake workshops and engage with professionals and colleagues in order to gain deeper insight and knowledge of key aspects of social impact work.

Social Enterprise Placement 24 weeks (India)

For six months, fellows work with one of IDEX’s partner enterprises as key staff member. Fellows work full-time with enterprises, interacting with customers, working hands-on with projects while building their proficiencies and grappling first-hand with the complex issues of working for a socially-minded enterprise.

Curriculum

In addition to full-time field placement, fellows will also undertake 24 weeks of custom developed curriculum modules that cover Managing Social Innovation, Advocacy & Outreach, Resource Mobilization and Impact Measurement. The IDEX Curriculum is self-paced and provides fellows with a baseline understanding of each focus area delivered through a combination of short-readings and curated content. Fellows can expect to commit approximately 4-5 hours a week on each curriculum modules for a minimum of 96 hours over the entire program.

Capacity Building Workshops

To accompany each curriculum module, fellows will particpate in four full-day capacity building workshops over the course of their fellowship led by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Mentors-in-Residence who are seasoned professionals and thought leaders in their respective fields.

Reflection & Debriefing 1 Day (Bangalore, India)

The Reflection and Debriefing celebrates Fellows’ completion of the Global Fellowship. Fellows who have successfully completed all program requirements will be provided with the opportunity to showcase their work and their achievements amongst their peers and IDEX staff.

Scholarships:

  • IDEX provides partial scholarships for select fellows seeking to participate in the IDEX Accelerator program.
  • Funding is merit-based and awarded to the most promising candidates who demonstrate a commitment and passion to continue working in the social enterprise sector post fellowship.
  • This application is open to all global applicants.

IDEX July 2016 Global Fellows Program!

The 2016 IDEX Fellow Cohort will begin their fellowship in July 2016.

IDEX is a six-month fellowship for individuals seeking to gain emerging market experience while working to support enterprises that deliver social change to local and global communities.

Each year, the IDEX Global Fellows Program invites a select number of individuals to take part in six-months of intrapreneurial leadership training across India. Fellows gain emerging market experience while working hands on with socially-focused enterprises who deliver high impact solutions in local and global communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications to be eligible for the IDEX Fellowship:

  • Bachelor or Masters/Graduate Degree (BS/BA/BBA must be obtained prior to start of program);

  • Age limit: 21-35 years old

  • Ability to perform in a high pressure environment;

  • English fluency (written and spoken);

  • Can obtain an India Business visa for a minimum of six months

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional work experience;

  • Excellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal)

SCHOLARSHIPS

Through generous funding from IDEX donors and partners, we are able to a limited number of partial scholarships for the 2016 Program to select candidates.

IDEX SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Partial Tuition Award Amounts: $500 USD – $2,000 USD

IDEX Scholarship Fund provides partial scholarships for global fellows seeking to participate in the IDEX Accelerator program.

The InvestWISE Scholarship is awarded to the most promising candidates who demonstrate a commitment to continue working as a socially progressive intrapreneur post-fellowship. Scholarship recipients receive a generous IDEX tuition scholarship of $3,250.

Partners will recieve and sign IDEX MOU agreement with housing and living stipend requirements. MOUs must be finalized by no later than May 15th. The first stipend/housing payment will be due by June 1

ONBOARDING

Enterprise partners will recieve onboarding checklist and check-in phone call with IDEX staff.

FELLOWS ORIENTATION

JULY 4 – JULY 8

Fellows participate in one week of intense training and immersion which consists of cultural training and capacity building workshops delivered by seasoned professionals and thought leaders.​

FIELD PLACEMENT

JULY 11 – DECEMBER 22

Fellows first day at the enterprise placement will be July 11. Fellows work with one of IDEX’s social enterprise partners gaining first-hand knowledge and experience of working within an emerging market. Fellows last day at placement is December 22

Each year, the IDEX Global Fellows Program invites a select number of individuals to take part in six-months of intrapreneurial leadership training across India. Fellows gain emerging market experience while working hands on with socially-focused enterprises who deliver high impact solutions in local and global communities.

Since 2010, the IDEX Global Fellows Program has successfully trained and prepared over 150 college graduates and young professionals from all corners of the world for their transition into high impact careers.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications to be eligible for the IDEX Fellowship:

  • Bachelor or Masters/Graduate Degree (BS/BA/BBA must be obtained prior to start of program);

  • Age limit: 21-35 years old

  • Ability to perform in a high pressure environment;

  • English fluency (written and spoken);

  • Ability to legally work in India for six months (IDEX will provide more information on the business visa application process).

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional work experience;

  • Excellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal).

Selection:

Candidates are chosen from a diverse yet competitive pool of talented, passionate individuals from a wide range of geographies, professional and academic backgrounds and ethnicities.

Applicants should have:

  • Two professional references;

  • Proven track record of leadership responsibilities;

  • Demonstrated passion for social enterprise and improving quality of life for low-income communities;

  • Ability to work in new and challenging environments with limited resources;

  • Willingness to work with low-income populations in developing economies and demonstrated practical skills in relationship building, cultural sensitivity and thrive in a start-up environment;

  • High interest in working in emerging markets;

  • A passion and desire to work in emerging markets and use social enterprise principles to solve global issues;

InvestWISE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Tuition Award Amount: $3,500 USD

IDEX has launched the InvestWISE scholarship Fund with the goal of empowering and training future women intrapreneurs to provide them with the experiences, connections and a global platform to assume leadership in social impact sectors.

Fellowship Stipends:

  • IDEX estimates that fellows living expenses, while in India, will average $250- $350 USD per month based on the city placement.
  • Fellows will receive a monthly living stipend (approx. $125 USD/month) towards cost of living expenses. The amount of the monthly stipend will be based on the cost of living in the fellow’s placement city.

Housing:

  • Housing is covered in full by the social enterprise partner. Fellows are not responsible for paying or securing housing during the six-month program.

Tuition:

Tuition for the 2016 Global Fellows Program is $3,800 USD.

PROGRAM INCLUSIONS

Tuition covers all educational expenses of the program, including:

  • All educational modules including leadership programs, development plans, 1:1 mentoring, and professional development.

  • Pre-departure Virtual Training

  • Lodging for the fellow training and orientation, in addition to all meals and and transportation from field training location to the fellow’s permanent placement city.

  • Monthly capacity building workshops

  • IDEX 20/20 Curriculum and supporting materials

  • IDEX Field Support staff

  • Post-fellowship support and Alumni network opportunities

Tuition does not cover:
