Applications are now open for the 2024 Government of Kenya Presidential Digital Talent Programme. The objective of the programme is to develop and prepare young ICT graduates to take up employment opportunities that come up in the ICT as well as other sectors. The program provides participants an excellent opportunity to gain workplace experience, expand knowledge, mentorship, refine career goals and build professional networks in the areas of: Networks & Digital Infrastructure, Software Development & IA, Information Security, Data Analytics and Multimedia (ICT Graphics) & Digital Marketing.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants MUST have graduated and attained First or Upper Second-Class Honors (or the equivalent) from a recognized institution in the last two years (from January 2022).
  • If waiting graduation (till December 2024), provide a recommendation/reference letter from the University stamped & signed by the University indicating First or Upper Second-Class Honors to be awarded.
  • Recent graduates in BSc. ICT or Engineering (Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunication, Software, Security) – The graduates must have thorough knowledge in the core areas of specialization; Networks & Digital Infrastructure, Software Development & IA, Information Security, Data Analytics and Multimedia (ICT Graphics) & Digital Marketing. The Applicant may be required to demonstrate technical competencies on their core of specialization prior to the interview.
  • Should NOT have undertaken any other Internship program in the government and is Unemployed
  • Applicants should be willing and ready to be deployed in any government organization (MCDAs) within the 47 counties on a full time basis from 8:00am – 5:00pm.
  • Females, persons with disability and graduates from ASAL regions are encouraged to apply.

The Digitalent is a Public Private Partnership Programme whose key components are Skill development, on the job coaching, mentorship, training, certification and ICT innovations It is a twelve (12) month internship programme whose objective is to develop ICT high-end skills in recent graduates, offer a platform for structured training, coaching, mentoring and promote ICT innovation and solutions development.

The presidential Digital Talent Programme was initiated to assist the government to access ICT competences ICT Leadership, technical and managerial) to design, procure, implement and manage a sound ICT structure for effective service delivery ICT culture transformation that treats ICT as business in support of government delivery objectives and Management Discussion.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants MUST have graduated and attained First or Upper Second-Class Honors (or the equivalent) from a recognized institution in the last two years (within the last 24 months) from 2020 to the date of this advertisement.
  2. If waiting graduation, MUST provide a recommendation/reference letter from the University stamped & signed by the dean of students indicating First or Upper Second-Class Honors to be awarded.
  3. Recent graduates in BSc. ICT or Engineering (Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunication, Systems/Software, Computer) – The graduates must have thorough knowledge in the core areas of specialization; Network & Infrastructure, Application Development, Graphic & Design, Information Security, and Project Management. Mentorship

DigiTalent mentor shall be an experienced professional volunteer, who is willing and available to share their experience, knowledge and networks with the mentee..

Innovation &Incubation

A Digitalent Innovation is an invention or process improvement solution for an identified gap in government or society.

DigiTalent is the brand name for the Presidential Digital Talent Programme (PDTP), an internship programme that develops the ICT talent pool in Kenya through a collaboration between the public and private sectors. It is a partnership between government, public and private sector stakeholders and is to be implemented by the Ministry of Information Communications and Technology (MoICT) through the ICT Authority (ICTA).

It is borne out of the need for government to enhance its capacity to use ICT in effective public service delivery. It also provides a training ground for potential employees and an affordable labour pool of freshly qualified individuals in government offices. Targeting recent graduates, PDTP offers participants an opportunity to understand government services, and provides them with a chance to contribute towards improving service delivery to Kenyan citizens.

Digitalent focuses on two key aspects:

  • Leadership development to develop ICT leaders in government management staff by entrenching them with ICT business principles to effectively run ICT structures.
  • ICT technical capacity development by training freshly qualified graduates through an internship programme to develop a ready and affordable pool of ICT talent for government.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

PDTP aims at developing the ICT talent pool by leveraging collaboration between the public and private sectors. Specifically, its main objectives are:

  • To deliver a combination of structured training, coaching and mentoring.
  • To develop a pipeline of future talent for government with a passion for ethical and accountable public service delivery.
  • To train at least 100 interns over a revolving 12-month period.
  • To promote innovation in local ICT product offerings

Government of Kenya Presidential Digital Talent Programme Cohort V (12 Month ICT Program for Kenyan Graduates).

Digitalent is a strategic intervention by ICT Authority on behalf of the Ministry of Information Communication Technology to develop and sustain high end ICT talent by bridging the gap between industry requirements and the capabilities of the local workforce. This is in line with the National ICT master plan which underscores the need to develop a critical mass of high-end ICT skills and to develop an ICT ready workforce to meet the needs of the industry. The programme has trained over 1200 ICT graduates. The 2020-21 call for applications targets Digitalent Cohort 5 recent ICT graduates.

Eligibility

The internship is offered to Kenyan youth who recently graduated with ICT, Engineering, Education (e-learning & content development), Medicine, Built Environment, Agriculture, Law and Communication (Graphic Design, Public Relations & Corporate Communication) who must have attained a first class or upper second class honours between January 2018 to the date of this advertisement and/or awaiting graduation.

Basic Requirements

  1. Applicant MUST have graduated and attained First or Upper Second-Class Honors (or the equivalent) from a recognized institution in the last two years from 2018 to the date of this advertisement.
  2. Recent graduates in BSc ICT or Engineering – The graduates must have thorough knowledge in the core areas of specialization; Network & Infrastructure, Engineering, Applications Development, Information Security and Project Management.
  3. Recent graduates in Project Management Agriculture, Medicine, Built Environment, Education (eLearning and content development), Law and Communication (Graphic Design, Public Relations & Corporate Communication) who have a passion in using Information & Communication Technology (ICT) to integrate the above areas.
  4. Applicant must have the requisite skills to carry out research and innovation to enable the government leverage ICT for realization of the big 4 agenda.
  5. Female, persons with disability and graduates from the ASAL regions are encourage to apply.
  6. Be a Kenyan youth between 21 to 35 years of age Unemployed;
  7. Should be willing and ready to be deployed in any government organization (MCDAs) within the 47 counties.
  8. Successful candidates will be required to complete a twelve (12) months’ full-time programme running from 8:00am-5:00pm
  9. Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted to attend the interviews. Depending on the core area, the applicants may be required to demonstrate technical competencies on the core of specialization prior to the interview.
  10. The Authority WILL NOT offer employment after the completion of the program. However, applicants who successfully complete the program are allowed to competitively apply for any positions the government advertises.
