The Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program is a scholarly community where individuals pursue advanced work across a wide range of academic disciplines, professions, and creative arts. Radcliffe Institute fellowships are designed to support scholars, scientists, artists, and writers of exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishment who wish to pursue work in academic and professional fields and in the creative arts.

The Radcliffe Institute encourages applications in all disciplines and on any topic In recognition of Radcliffe’s historic contributions to the education of women and to the study of issues related to women, the Radcliffe Institute sustains a continuing commitment to the study of women, gender, and society. Applicants’ projects need not focus on gender, however. Women and men from across the United States and throughout the world, including developing countries, are encouraged to apply.

The Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program annually selects and supports 50 leading artists and scholars who have both exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishments

– Group Applicants in the Humanities and Social Sciences
– Group Applicants in the Creative Arts

Stipends:

Stipends are funded up to $75,000 for one year with additional funds for project expenses. Some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant.
Radcliffe work with fellows with families who have particular issues connected to relocating to smooth the transition.
If so directed, Radcliffe will pay the stipend to the fellow’s home institution. Fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which extends from early September 2016 through May 31, 2017.
Visual artists and film and video artists may apply to come for either one or two semesters.
In the event that they come for one semester, the stipend is $37,500.

CIVICUS is proud to announce one United Nations (UN) Learning Exchange opportunity, sponsored by Irish Aid, focused on Strengthening the Voice of African Civil Society and human rights defenders in the international human rights system. The position will be based at the CIVICUS UN Office in Geneva from 7 September to 7 December 2015.

This Learning Exchange is designed to familiarize the candidate with the United Nations system and bring information pertaining to African civil society to the Human Rights Council (HRC), the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process, and Special Procedures, (Special Rapporteurs and Working Groups are part of Special Procedures).

During a three-month period the candidate will be based in Geneva Switzerland, and work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Geneva Office. He/she will assist in the preparation of reports or statements and help to coordinate engagement during the 30th Session of the Human Rights Council, the 23rd UPR session, the Minority Forum and the Forum on Business and Human Rights.

Qualifications and Experience
•    A degree in Human Rights, International Affairs or a related field;
•    Experience of working with human rights community in one or more African countries and a thorough knowledge of regional human rights issues within Africa;
•    Fluency in English is essential, French would be an advantage;
•    Demonstrated professionalism, diplomatic skills and analytical diligence;
•    Willingness to travel to Geneva for three months.

Remuneration
Interns will receive accommodation in Geneva, round trip airfare and a stipend of €600 a month to cover living costs.
