Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is pleased to announce the call for the 2023 cohort of the Young Leaders Forum.

The Young Leaders Forum [YLF] is a multidisciplinary program on social, economic and political challenges at the national, continental and global level that brings together talented active young minds and political activists who are working towards social justice and democracy.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible applicants should be:

Between 21 and 35 years old
Tanzanians and currently residing in Tanzania (Mainland and Zanzibar) and should be in the country during the course of implementation
Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent or pursuing first degree by the time of application
Politically active
Involved in a project or initiative and/or active in civil society, political parties, or trade unions

Application Procedure:

Please send your application, consisting of a one-page motivation letter and your detailed CV in PDF format.

Your motivation letter should refer to your voluntary engagement in society and explain what you are expecting from the YLF. It should answer the following questions:

Why are you applying for this program? How will your participation help nurture your engagement and transform your community (or) and organization?
What would you contribute into the YLF program?

Applications should be sent to info.tanzania(at)fes.de or submit a hard copy to Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung office located at 6 Mwai Kibaki Road, Dar es Salaam, by Tuesday, 10th January 2023 at 16.00 hours.

Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Young Leaders Forum (YLF) 2023 for young Ugandans (Fully Funded)

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Uganda office, invites politically interested and active young people to apply for the 2023 in-take of the Young Leaders Forum (YLF). The YLF is an initiative of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) whose aim is to contribute to the development of the political, social, economic knowledge and skills of young women and men and to motivate them to advocate for social justice and good governance in Uganda.

The programme comprises of eight mostly policy- or issue-based modules, each lasting two days which will take place between February and October 2023. The training sessions consisting of lectures, workshops and participatory interactions will be conducted by external experts. The training is fully funded by FES.

Requirements

Ugandan citizenship or proof of residency for non-citizens.
Aged between 18 and 30 years.
Have a minimum of “A” level education.
Have proven commitment to public affairs, community involvement or advocacy.

Application Procedure:

Each application must be accompanied by:

An updated and complete CV with three referees.
Copies of “A” level certificate and any other academic transcripts if applicable.
A letter of motivation for participation and future plans relating to the programme (you should clearly state your expectations towards the programme and how you would use your acquired knowledge & skills to make an impact in society).

Timeline:

Deadline for application is Thursday, 8th December 2022.
Only complete applications will be considered.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for interviews which will tentatively take place between 16^th January and 10^th February 2023.

Successful candidates are expected to attend all the training sessions.

After the successful participation in the programme, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Women and PWDs are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Tanzania announces the opening of applications for the annual Young Leaders Forum in 2021.

The Young Leaders Forum [YLF] is a multidisciplinary program on social, economic and political challenges at the national, continental and global level. The program provides the platform for active young minds and political activists to learn about, discuss and critically interrogate issues of social justice and democracy in the country and in sub-Saharan Africa at large.

Requirements

Eligible candidates shall be between 21 and 35 years old, be holders of degree or the equivalent at the minimum, and be politically interested and active in civil society, political parties, or trade unions.

Application Procedure

Please send your application, consisting of a one page motivation letter and your CV in PDF format, to [email protected], or submit a hard copy to FES office located along Mwai Kibaki Road latest by 10^th February 2021 at 14.00 hours.

In your motivation letter, kindly reference your personal voluntary engagement in society, how your participation in the YLF will help to nurture and expand this engagement and help to transform your organization. Furthermore, explain what you are expecting from the YLF and what you can contribute to its success.

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Interviews for Zanzibar-based candidates will take place in Unguja 19^th and 20^th February 2021 while those from Mainland will convene in Dar es Salaam at FES Tanzania Offices on 23^rd and 24^th February 2021.
