Freie Universität Berlin is offering scholarships for international Students to pursue undergraduate and graduate degree level.
The purpose of the scholarship program is to support students with outstanding academic records showing exceptional merit. All undergraduate and graduate students (Bachelor’s and Master’s level) – except doctoral students – of Freie Universität Berlin can submit an application for the Deutschlandstipendium. With only few exceptions, funding is only possible until you reach the end of the standard period of study (Regelstudienzeit) of your major subject.
Number of scholarships
Envisaged number of scholarships in this period: 22 (as of July 1st, 2014)
9 scholarships are available to students from all departments of which one is reserved for students focusing their studies on ageing.
scholarships are only available to students of specific departments:
Art History
Ancient Studies, Classical Archeology or the Master’s program in Egyptology.
Students, who raise children expressly invited to apply.
Business Administration, Finance, Accounting and Taxation,
Computer Science in the field secure identity,
Economics,
Selection Criteria:
- Awards, prices, scholarships, work activities and internships. Internships will only be recognized in the selection process if they are voluntary and additional internships that are not included in the curriculum and are not recognized as part of the requirements for your degree and if they total at least 120 hours.
- Volunteer work, social or political commitment (activities without pay in clubs, churches, social projects, political activities, in school or university committees etc.).
- Personal conditions and family background (chronic illness, disabilities, taking care of children or other relatives who require care, educational family background, immigrant family background).
Application Process
To apply please follow the following instruction:
- Fill in and submit (klick ‘send’) the online application form then print it, and sign the page.
- Submit the complete application by mail (required documents are listed in the next paragraph) until July 31th 2014.
Please submit your application without any folders, paper clips etc.
Required application documents:
- Printed and signed copy of the online application form,
- Matriculation certificate or Letter of admission if matriculation certificate is not yet available (both can be submitted subsequently until the 30th Sept 2014)
- High School and University/College Certificates and Transcripts of Academic Records:
- Copy of high-school leaving diploma/ Abitur (not required if you are a Master’s student),
- Copy of college or university degree (if you already graduated) or a 2/3-certification if your certificate has not been issued yet,
- Transcript of Academic Records or Noten- und Punktekonto from Campus Management (transcript of your courses and grades; please be aware of the information below in paragraph G. Certificates),
- Applicants with grades from a non-German grading system: documents indicating your grade converted into the German grading system (i.e. Prüfbericht from Uni Assit e.V.)
- Copies of certificates of awards and prizes, documentation of scholarships, employment and internships, volunteer work and social or political commitment etc. (refer to D. Selection Criteria 1) and 2)),
- If you would like to apply for a scholarship in the area of setting up new businesses: documentation of any activities in this area (e.g. setting up your own business, participating in the Business Plan Contest, Funpreneur Contest etc.)
- One recent letter of recommendation of a professor (or a teacher if you haven’t studied at university level before). Please use this form: English: doc pdf, Deutsch: doc pdf
