OneBeat is an international cultural exchange that celebrates the transformative power of the arts through the creation of original, inventive music, and people-to-people diplomacy. In the fall of 2013, 25 musicians (ages 19-35) from around the world will come together in the U.S. for four weeks to collaboratively write, produce, and perform original music, and develop ways that music can make a positive impact on our local and global communities

OneBeat is divided into two segments, a residency and a tour.

During the residency, OneBeat Fellows will spend two weeks at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in central Florida, immersed in a process of collaborative music creation and experimentation.

During the two-week tour, OneBeat ensembles will collaborate with local musicians to give public performances and lead workshops with youth and community groups. OneBeat Fellows will also work with a diverse group of expert Collaborating Artists—including luminaries of classical music, hip-hop, jazz and more—to develop and deepen the scope of their collaborative work.

The Nieman Society of Southern Africa invites journalists to apply for the 2013 Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University.

The Fellowships were established in 1938. They are the oldest fellowships for mid-career journalists in the world and are awarded to working journalists of outstanding achievement.
The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide an opportunity for journalists to study and broaden their intellectual horizons. As Harvard does not offer courses in journalism, Nieman Fellows are free to pursue a wide variety of academic interests

The Massachusetts-South Africa Technology Fellowship Program

The Massachusetts-South Africa Technology Fellowship Program (MSAT) is made possible by a generous grant from the United States Department of State. It is designed to bring emerging leaders from South Africa to Boston for five weeks of internship in high tech, information technology and life sciences industries. The selected Fellows will be placed in companies within the targeted industries to learn first-hand how issues in their fields are addressed in the United States. While deepening their understanding of American society, the visiting participants also build a broad network made up of both their new American colleagues and the other visiting Fellows.

Bentley University, in close collaboration with South Africa Partners, has been selected to implement the MSAT program in Boston, Massachusetts. The five-week Fellowship will include a one-week orientation program on the campus of Bentley University, three weeks of internship working with a mentor and a peer in a Boston-area business setting, and one week in Washington, D.C., where Fellows attend the Professional Fellows Congress, hosted by the U.S. Department of State. Fellows will travel to the U.S. in May 2013 or October 2013.
