This scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as several Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences.

Scholarship

The scholarship amounts to € 5,000. You will receive this in the first year of your studies. Please note that this is not a full-tuition scholarship.

Grant award period

The grant is awarded for one year and can only be received once.

Application criteria

  • Your nationality is non-EEA.
  • You are applying for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s programme at one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions.
  • You meet the specific requirements of the institution of your choice. You can find these on the website of the institution.
  • You do not have a degree from an education institution in the Netherlands.

How to apply

Find your programme in the overview of participating research universities or in the overview of participating universities of applied sciences. You will find detailed information about the application procedure and deadlines in the links provided in both lists.

The university will contact you to let you know if you have been awarded a scholarship.

Deadlines

You can now apply for the 2018-2019 academic year. The deadline for application is either 1 February 2019 or 1 May 2019. Please check the website of the institution of your choice to confirm the correct deadline.

Holland Government Scholarship 2018/2019 for study at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University

The Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. This scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s at RSM.

Requirements:

  • Your nationality is non-EEA;
  • You are a prospective student, starting your studies in the academic year 2018/2019;
  • You are applying for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s programme at RSM;
  • You meet the specific requirements of the programme you are applying for;
  • You do not have a degree from an educational institution in the Netherlands (excluding exchange programmes in the Netherlands).

In principle, a fair distribution of scholarships over the various programmes will take place. This principle may be deviated from and priority may be given to applicants for certain programmes. Additionally, the school may strive for a certain distribution over the continents.

Benefits:

Amount

  • The scholarship amounts to € 5,000 for maximum 12 months, one academic year;
  • You will receive this only in the first year of your studies. This is not a full scholarship;
  • The amount will be transferred in two instalments (November 2017 and February 2018) after you have paid the full tuition fee amount.

Selection criteria

  • Prospective students for the IBA programme at RSM need to prove their excellence. Excellence in previous education is proven if the grade point average achieved at secondary school (measured to date) is at least the equivalent of the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale 1 – 10;
  • For prospective students who have also attended higher education after secondary education grades obtained in higher education will be considered as well. The RSM Scholarship Committee will decide on the local grade equivalents for the Dutch grade of 8.0 using (a.o.) the grade information included in the Nuffic country modules;
  • Only students who are not recipients of any other scholarships exceeding the amount € 5,000 in total in that same academic year can apply for the scholarship;
  • By accepting this scholarship you agree to assist the RSM Recruitment and Admissions Office in the role of an Ambassador with promotional and support activities for approximately 8 hours per month during the academic year;
  • By accepting this scholarship, you agree to start your visa procedure before 1 June 2018. RSM holds the right to cancel your scholarship if you have not started your visa procedure and holds the right to offer the scholarship to a student on the waiting list.

Application procedure
The first step is to register for the IBA programme in Studielink. Note that it is not possible to apply for a scholarship in Studielink! Once you have registered yourself, you will receive a link for our online application form (OLAF). Please upload your application documents and a scholarship application letter (max. 1 A4 size page) in OLAF. The application letter should include the following information:

  • an explanation why you would need a scholarship, comprising a description of your current financial situation;
  • an explanation why you would deserve a scholarship, comprising a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits;
  • a clear financial plan of how you are going to finance year 2 and 3 of the IBA programme;
  • a signed statement indicating that other scholarships awarded do not exceed the amount of € 5,000 in total;
  • if applicable: certified copies of other scholarships granted;

Deadline
Applicants can apply from 1 October 2017 until 31 January 2018.

What next?
The RSM Scholarship Committee will determine award recipient(s) on 15 April 2018.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Holland Scholarship Programme (HSP) 2017 for Study in the Netherlands (Funded)

Are you ready for the chance of a lifetime? Apply for the Holland Scholarship Programme!

The Holland Scholarship Programme (HSP) is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Dutch research universities, and universities of applied sciences. Students eligible for this scholarship are students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who are applying for a Master’s programme in the Netherlands. Students from Suriname and Switzerland are not eligible to apply for the HSP scholarship.

Scholarship amount

The scholarship amounts to € 5,000. You will receive this in the first year of your studies.

Application criteria

  • You hold a non-EEA nationality that is not Surinamese or Swiss.
  • You are applying for a full-time English taught Master’s programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
  • The degree with which you are seeking admission has not been obtained in the Netherlands.
  • You need to have applied for VUFP. We will only award HSP scholarships to recipients of the VU Fellowship Programme.
  • We select excellent students who contribute to the diversity at our campus.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam embraces diversity as an enrichment to our teaching, research and our contribution to society. Before applying for the Holland Scholarship Programme (HSP), you need to apply for a Master’s programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. You can apply for the scholarship until 1 February 2017.

Application Procedure

1. Register for Master’s programme    
Students register for a Master’s programme in Studielink and after that in the VUnet portal. Here you can find more information on how to applyfor one of our English-taught Master’s programmes. Please note that you must have applied for the Master programme before you can apply for the HSP scholarship.

2. Submit HSP application
Submit your HSP application in VUnet.
Deadline: 1 February 2017

For HSP application 3 documents are required:

 A. Proof of excellence/ GPA       
Students who apply for a HSP scholarship need to have a GPA of at least 80% of the highest possible mark (calculated over full previous degree). For example, if the highest possible mark is a 10, you need to have an average of at least a 8.
Excellence in previous education is proven if the grade point average achieved is at least the equivalent of the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale 1 – 10. The HSP  Scholarship Committee will decide on the local grade equivalents for the Dutch grade of 8.0 using  the grade information included in the NUFFIC country modules.

    B. Motivation letter       
Write a personal statement in which you reflect on your own identity. You may refer to your experiences in both international and local settings in the motivation letter. For the purpose of this scholarship, diversity includes (but is not limited to) ethnic, religious, gender, socioeconomic, sexual and cultural diversity. In this statement please reflect on how your identity has contributed to your academic interests and performance, and your involvement with diversity issues. Include how your identity has evolved by going through different experiences with diversity issues and your interaction with diverse groups or individuals (max 500 words).

C. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
We strongly recommend the use of the Europass format. The following three points must reflect on your CV to proof that you are an added value for diversity on our campus:

1. Describe your experiences with interacting in an intercultural setting. In your description, point out how you have developed intercultural competences (such as intercultural sensitivity, intercultural communication skills etc.) through these experiences. This can be both in local and international contexts

2. Give an example of how you have been involved with social justice issues. This includes, for example, the empowerment of marginalized groups, diversity education, different forms of activism and advocacy etc. Elaborate on your motivation for this involvement and the results that you have accomplished.

3. Elaborate on your current or previous commitment to service in your community, your motivation for commitment and how this has impacted the persons you work with. Reflect on your personal understanding of community service.

Results
All students will receive an e-mail/notification informing them of the Central Scholarships Committee’s decision concerning their application.
Expected date: 1 April 2017 (8 weeks after the deadline).

Acceptance of HSP offer
Selected candidates accept/decline the HSP offer in VUnet.
Deadline: 15 April 2017 (2 weeks after the results are published).

This scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s in the Netherlands.

Applications for the 2016-2017 academic year open on 1 November 2015. The deadline for applications is either 1 February 2016 or 1 May 2016. Check further instructions below.

  2. Check whether the Dutch higher education institution is participating.

  3. Check the selected fields of studies on de website of the Dutch higher education institution.
  4. Check whether you meet the application criteria above.
  5. You can start applying from 1 November 2015.
  6. The deadline for application is either 1 February 2016 or 1 May 2016. Please check the list to see what deadline you need to follow.
  7. You need to apply for the Holland Scholarship directly at the institution of your choice and meet their selection criteria.
  8. If there are any unclarities in the procedure, please contact the institution you are applying to directly.
  9. After the application deadline, the institution you applied to will contact you to let you know if you have been awarded a scholarship.
