CSIR Undergraduate/Postgraduate Bursary Programme 2018 for South Africans (Fully Funded)

A world without science is unimaginable. Science aids development and organisations such as the CSIR play a very big role in ensuring that the world, especially Africa, continues to change for the better. Armed with some of the best minds in the world, the CSIR works on trying to solve problems that can help all South Africans and make a significant contribution to the global wealth of knowledge.
The CSIR hereby invites bursary applications from talented young people wishing to pursue a career in research, technology development and innovation. The CSIR Undergraduate Bursary Programme is open to all academically qualifying young people and also aims to attract and increase participation of women and African people in fields of science, engineering and technology.

The CSIR bursary programme financially supports full-time, unemployed students in obtaining qualifications in areas that are deemed a priority by the CSIR.

Eligibility

• Unemployed students studying full-time BSc, B Eng, BSc Honours or B Tech, MSc and Ph

  • Criteria Current Grade 12
  • • South African citizen
  • Must intend to enrol full-time for the degree of choice at a South African public university
  • English (Level 5)
  • Mathematics (Level 6)
  • Physical Science (Level 6)
  Current university students • South African citizen
  • Must be enrolled full-time towards the degree of choice at a South African public university

The CSIR Undergraduate Bursary Programme is open to all academically qualifying young people and also aims to attract and increase participation of women and African people in fields of science, engineering and technology.
  • If you are a South African citizen successfully pursuing a science or engineering degree at a South African university or a Grade 12 learner intending to study for a degree in science or engineering in 2017, the CSIR bursary is for you.
  • This is a comprehensive bursary that covers all the costs associated with university studies, such as:

  • Books
  • Accommodation
  • Living allowance
  • Laptop allowance
Requirements
Grade 12 learners:
• Must be a South African citizen
• A minimum of a Level 5 for English (First Language or a English Second Language) in Grade 11
• Preferably level 6 for Mathematics and Physical Science in Grade 11
• Enrolled fulltime for a BSc or BEng at a public tertiary institution University students:
• Must be a South African citizen
• Must have passed all courses for which you have registered at the university for the study period already completed.
CSIR Honours Bursary Programme

 

The CSIR would like to invite students wishing to register for Honours or equivalent degrees for the 2017 academic year in the fields of science, engineering and technology, to apply for a bursary. This is a comprehensive bursary and it covers all the costs associated with university studies, such as:

  • Registration
  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Accommodation
  • Living allowance
  • Laptop allowance
Academic merit will be considered during the selection process, as well as the imperative to increase the participation of women and African people in fields of science, engineering and technology.
Requirements:
• Must be a South African citizen
• Planning to enrol full-time at a South African university
• Must have passed all courses for which registered at the university for
the study period already completed
Please note that applications must be for full-time studies towards an academic degree at an accredited public South African university. Only BTech bursaries are awarded for studies at a university of technology.

CSIR Undergraduate Bursary Programme

The CSIR Undergraduate Bursary Programme is open to all academically qualified young people and aims to attract and increase the participation of women and black people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers.

If you are a South African citizen successfully pursuing a degree in a STEM field at a South African university or a Grade 12 learner aiming to study for a degree in a STEM field in 2016, the CSIR bursary may just be for you.

CSIR Postgraduate Bursary Programme

The CSIR Postgraduate Bursary Programme is open to all academically qualified students and also aims to attract and increase participation of women and black people in STEM careers.

Requirements

Grade 12 Learners

  • A minimum of a Level 5 for English First Language or a Level 4 for English Second Language in Grade 11.
  • Preferably at least a Level 6 for Mathematics and Physical Science in Grade 11.

University Students

  • Must have passed all courses for the study period already completed.

Bursary Worth:

This is a comprehensive bursary that covers all the costs associated with university studies for the duration of the approved degree programme. Costs include:
