The Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) is delighted to be accepting applications for the 2023 Team Awards. The awards target exceptional teams of early-career conservationists leading high-priority projects across the world.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must propose projects that support the conservation of species listed as Data Deficient, Vulnerable, Endangered or Critically Endangered on the global IUCN Red List.
  • Projects must take place in an eligible country, be led (or co-led) by a national of one of these countries, and involve at least three team members.

Benefits

  • The award-winning teams will benefit from a project grant as well as global recognition for their exceptional work in conservation.
  • All team members will have opportunities to build connections with peers and access expert mentorship through the CLP Alumni Network (comprising almost 3,000 past recipients around the world); CLP partner organisations; and the CLP Management Team.
  • Individuals from winning teams are also invited to participate in international, regional and online training courses to develop their conservation knowledge and skills.

Eligible applicants can apply for one of three types of award:

  1. Future Conservationist Awards (up to $15,000 for projects 3-12 months in length)
  2. Conservation Follow-Up Awards (up to $25,000 for projects up to two years in length; available only to previous recipients of a Future Conservationist Award)
  3. Conservation Leadership Awards (up to $50,000 for projects up to three years in length; available only to previous recipients of a Follow-Up Award).

CLP Conservation Award 2020 for early-career Conservationists ($50,000 Prize)

Conservation Leadership Programme is now accepting applications for its 2020 Conservation Awards. This funding supports early-career conservationists to conduct scientific research, encourage and promote pro-conservation attitudes and deliver tangible results to better conserve and manage the natural world.

In this round we are accepting applications for projects across Africa, Asia, Eastern and South-eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean. Countries that are not eligible include those designated as high-income economies by the World Bank, with the exception of some countries and island nations in Latin America & Caribbean and the Pacific.

We will offer three levels of Conservation Awards:

Among other criteria, projects must take place in an eligible country, be led (or co-led) by a national of one of these countries, involve at least three team members and last no more than 12 months. The projects must also target species that are listed as Data Deficient, Vulnerable, Endangered or Critically Endangered on the global IUCN Red List.

The deadline for Future Conservationists Awards applications is 24 November 2019.

Previous CLP grantees applying for a Conservation Follow-up or Conservation Leadership award must submit the final report from their previous CLP project and a logical framework to CLP by 18 October 2019. CLP will provide feedback on all logical frameworks by 25th October and, based on this review, will either invite applicants to submit a full proposal or not. All awards will be announced in April 2020.

2015 Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) Conservation Team Awards

Applications for the 2015 Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) Conservation Team Awards are now open! CLP aims to advance biodiversity conservation globally by building the leadership capabilities of early-career conservation professionals working in high-priority places with limited capacity to address conservation issues.

This partnership initiative, including BirdLife International, Fauna & Flora International and the Wildlife Conservation Society, has been helping young conservationists across the world to achieve their goals for 30 years. The programme works toward its aims by offering awards, training and mentoring support.

CLP offers three levels of Conservation Awards :

  • Future Conservationist Awards : Approximately 18 awards of up to $12,500each
  • Conservation Follow-up Awards: Approximately 2 awards of up to $20,000 each (available only to previous CLP Future Conservationist Award winners)
  • Conservation Leadership Awards: 1 award of $40,000 (available only to previous CLP Follow-up Award winners)

Requirements:

In 2015 CLP will only be accepting proposals for projects to be implemented in the following 22 countries:
Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Brazil, China, Egypt, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Mexico, Mozambique, Oman, South Africa, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, UAE and Vietnam
Those applying for Conservation Follow-up and Conservation Leadership Awards
must submit a Logical Framework and the Final Report of their previous CLP project
as part of their application materials
Successful applicants will:
1.) Develop the knowledge, skills and abilities of team members;
2.) Implement a focused, high-priority conservation project combining research and action; and
3.) Contribute to the long-term success of local conservation efforts.
Applicants can request feedback on their proposals from CLP Alumni Ambassadors in their region prior to submission

Benefits

  • A representative from each award-winning team will be invited to attend an international training event in June /July 2015 organised by CLP to share ideas and develop skills, knowledge and contacts.
  • Additionally, winning teams are able to network with experts from within each of the partner organisations and past winners.
  • CLP management team members are available to advise during project implementation, including guidance required during the planning and team training stages.
