2. Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for students from developing countries to study in the United Kingdom

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships support Master’s study and are offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in partnership with UK universities. The scholarships are intended for students from developing countries who would not otherwise be able to afford to study in the UK, to gain skills and knowledge which will allow them to contribute to the development of their home countries.

4. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)

As part of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), New Zealand offers New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships to candidates from developing Commonwealth countries for postgraduate study (Master’s and PhD) in New Zealand universities on a contestable basis. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are highly competitive and for top level graduates.

The Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s and PhD study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

6 . Commonwealth Medical Fellowships for Doctors and Dentists from Developing Commonwealth Countries

Commonwealth Medical Fellowships are offered to doctors and dentists from developing Commonwealth countries to enable them to spend between three and six months at a UK hospital undertaking a programme designed to enhance their clinical skills. These fellowships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

7. Malaysian Commonwealth Scholarships

The Malaysian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) are awarded by the Malaysian Government to the nominated students from the Commonwealth countries to study at the post-graduate level in Malaysia.

10. Commonwealth Scholarships in low and middle income countries

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is a unique programme. Since its establishment in 1959, it has provided opportunities for over 30,000 citizens of all Commonwealth countries to study in other member countries.

Since the scholarships have traditionally been supported by host governments, the overwhelming majority have been hosted by developed Commonwealth countries. Now, following the establishment of the CSFP endowment fund in 2009, a new strand of Commonwealth Scholarships located in low and middle income countries is available.

13. 33Fifty Commonwealth Youth Leadership Programme

33Fifty is a leadership programme for young Commonwealth leaders aged between 18 and 25. The name comes from the fact that 33% of the world’s population lives in the Commonwealth, and 50% of those are under 25.
