Clinton Global Initiative University 2017 for High-impact Student innovators & Entrepreneurs- Boston,USA (Funding Available)

The 10th annual CGI U meeting will take place October 13-15, 2017 at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Launched at CGI University (CGI U) 2016, the CGI U Innovation Fund will source, support, and feature the most effective, high-impact student innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world. Working within the CGI U Commitment to Action model, Innovation Fund grants will provide students with critical seed funding to help launch and scale their early-stage projects. The awarded funds will range from approximately $2,000 to $10,000. Accepted students receiving funding through the Innovation Fund will also be invited to attend the CGI U 2017 meeting.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in an institution of higher education at the time of application. (Ex: A student graduating after the May 1, 2017 final deadline would be eligible to apply.)
  • Students who will be at least 18 years of age and enrolled in an institution of higher education by October 2017 are also eligible to apply. (Ex: A high school senior who turns 18 years of age in June 2017 and commences university studies by October 2017 or a university graduate enrolling in an advanced degree program by October 2017 would also be eligible to apply.)

Application Checklist:

Step 1: Identify the type of CGI U application to submit.

Students interested in attending CGI U can apply as either an individual or a group.

Individual: A student may apply to attend CGI U as an individual. This student makes a Commitment to Action that he or she will carry out individually, or applies to attend CGI U as the sole representative of a larger organization.

Group: Up to three students may apply to attend CGI U as a group. These students collaborate on a Commitment to Action and apply to attend the meeting together to represent their project or initiative.

Step 2: Prepare your Commitment to Action.

To be considered for admission, all applicants are required to make a Commitment to Action. A Commitment to Action is a concrete plan that addresses a pressing challenge in one of CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, or Public Health.

What: Ninth annual Clinton Global Initiative University Meeting

Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.

Each year,  the Clinton Global Initiative University hosts a meeting where students, university representatives, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges.

President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will host the ninth annual CGI U meeting from April 1-3, 2016 at the University of California, Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area. More than $750,000 in funding will be available to select CGI U 2016 students through the University Network and other opportunities to help them turn their ideas into action.

Requirements:

  • Students must be 18 years of age or older and enrolled in an institution of higher education at the time of the CGI U meeting in order to apply.
  • To be considered for admission, all applicants are required to design a Commitment to Action in one of CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health. All invited attendees will be notified by late December 2015.

Individual: A student may apply to attend CGI U as an individual. This student makes a Commitment to Action that he or she will carry out individually, or applies to attend CGI U as the sole representative of a larger organization.

Group: Up to three students may apply to attend CGI U as a group. These students collaborate on a Commitment to Action and apply to attend the meeting together to represent their project or initiative.

The group must appoint a group leader to fill out the first part of the CGI U application (which includes the Commitment to Action), and the additional group members will receive emails from CGI U with instructions on how to complete their portions of the application. It is the responsibility of the group leader to ensure that all group members complete their portions of the application

Clinton Global Initiative University 2013 ($400,000 in funding for select attendee)

Application Deadline: Deadline January 30. 2013

President Clinton will host the sixth annual meeting of  Clinton Global Initiative University from April 5 – 7, 2013 at Washington University in St. Louis. The meeting will bring together student leaders, NGO representatives, topic experts, and other prominent innovators to brainstorm ideas, share best practices, and develop their action plans for the months ahead. While  Clinton Global Initiative University 2013 speakers will be announced at a later date, last year’s speakers included Jon Stewart, Madeleine Albright, Vandana Shiva, and Usher.

More than $400,000 in funding for select attendees is now available through the CGI University Network and the Resolution Project. To be eligible for funding, students must first apply online to attend .

Any student above the age of 18 who is enrolled in an institution of higher education at the time of the meeting is eligible to apply. The meeting is free to attend if you are accepted.
