Chivas Regals’ The Venture 2018 Competition for Social Good Enterprises

Every year, the Chivas Venture gives away $1 million in no-strings funding to social entrepreneurs, who blend profit with purpose to have a positive impact on the world.

Requirements:

The founder, co-founder or a key decision-maker who will represent your business throughout the competition.
You must be aged 25 years old or over (as of 31 October 2018), and speak fluent English.
Your start-up must already be registered as a for-profit entity in the country you’re located, and earn no more than $1.5 million in annual revenue (from 1 September 2017 to 1 September 2018).

Award:

Global exposure, a share of $1million dollars in no-strings funding, a 3-day Accelerator Programme in the UK, and a bunch of world-changing new friends.

2. Get selected to represent your country

Each application will be reviewed, and the very best from each of the participating countries will be shortlisted to take part in national finals. We collaborate with the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, at the University of Oxford, to select the most promising entries.

You will be invited to pitch your business to a panel of experts, who will select a country winner to compete in the global finals.

3. Learn & Grow

In March 2019, all 20 global finalists will be flown to the United Kingdom to take part in our Accelerator Programme in London. Hosted by The Conduit – a new London establishment that serves as a home for a diverse community of people who are passionate about social change – the intensive training programme will include one-to-one pitch coaching and a set of learning sessions tailored for social entrepreneurs.

Aside from mentorship by leading experts, the Accelerator Programme is a great opportunity to build a community of world-changers, sharing ideas as well as tasty cocktails. Past finalists have found great value in blending with their peers from around the world – 89% of them say that they have or intend to collaborate with other Chivas Venture finalists.

4. Get your story heard

Following the Accelerator Programme, the first $100,000 of the Chivas Venture fund will be put into the hands of the public, during three weeks of online voting. This will be your chance to inspire people around the world and encourage them to support your startup.

5. Pitch at the Global Final

The Chivas Venture 2019 will culminate in a series of pitches where finalists will battle it out for the remainder of the $1 million in funding. You will have the opportunity to pitch in front of our expert judges as well as a live audience of business experts, influencers and change-makers.

In 2014, Chivas Regal launched The Venture, a $1million annual fund and global search to reward those who are using business to create positive change. Over the last two years we have invested $2 Million in a new generation of extraordinary startups, that do well by doing good, because we believe generosity and success go hand in hand.

If you run an innovative social business that is helping to create a better future, we want to hear from you. Successful applicants will have a chance to pitch for a share of The Venture’s $1Million fund and will receive world-class mentorship to help accelerate their growth.

Requirements:

Chivas are looking for social entrepreneurs who have a registered, for-profit startup or business.
Chivas are searching for businesses in seed stage (which means the product is still in prototype stage and the business is not yet generating revenue from customers or users yet), startup stage (which means the business has a working prototype of its concept, ideally with some demonstrable user traction, generating a maximum of US $500,000 – or local currency equivalent – in annual revenues and has been incorporated for no more than three years) or growth stage (which means the business is beyond the working prototype stage, and can show significant user traction and sales, generating a maximum of US $1 million – or local currency equivalent – in annual revenues and has been incorporated for more than three years).
You will have a strong vision, a compelling idea and a solid business plan.
You’ll also need to showcase how your business has a positive impact and articulate how funding would help to take your business to the next level.
You must be over 25 to enter The Venture.

Prizes:

A SHARE OF THE $1MILLION FUND

If you are selected to take part in the global final, you’ll have the opportunity to win a share of $1 Million in funding. Each finalist will have the chance to tell us how much funding they seek and how they believe this will make a difference for their business.THE VENTURE ACCELERATOR WEEK:

Over the course of a week, all the finalists will take part in a variety of intensive business master-classes at some of the world’s leading businesses to help them sharpen their skills.MENTORED BY THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS:

We have recruited a team of experts in partnership with the Skoll centre at Oxford University to provide business and pitching support to The Venture’s global finalists.GLOBAL EXPOSURE:

The global finalists will feature on The Venture website and crowdfunding site IndieGogo. Our international campaign will reach millions of people around the world, offering incredible exposure for your business.LOCAL PRIZES:

Judging Criteria:

Every submission will be judged on five criteria. These criteria are:

Market opportunity and size.
Demonstrable impact: measurable social or environmental impact and a model that can scale.
Sound business model and organizational strategy.
Financial feasibility and sustainability: can earn revenue.
Skills, experience and commitment of management team.
