Your Opportunity to go Beyond the Scenes of the Global Energiewende – Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue & BETD Media Fellows – Connecting Journalists Conference 2021
On 16-17 March 2021, the German Government invites the world to its annual inspiring dialogue on the Global Energiewende, the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (#betd21), which has become the leading international forum on the green energy transformation. Every year, high-level participants from politics, industry, science and civil society gather in Berlin for two days to discuss the shift to a sustainable energy system. In this diverse international conference, scientific expertise is paired with practical know-how, policymakers engage with civic groups, and young and experienced generations enrich each other by working hand in hand to accelerate the energy transition.
For several years, the Federal Foreign Office, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE e.V.) invited international journalists to report on the BETD. This BETD Media Fellowship allowed young journalists from around the world to gather in the German capital in order to:
- gain access to this exclusive conference
- talk to high-level stakeholders from science, politics, industry and civil society
- connect with other BETD Media Fellows
- and experience the energy transition hands-on with exclusive virtual guided tours and side events during the Berlin Energy Week (15-19 March 2021)
This year, BETD Media Fellows – Connecting Journalists conference will have full virtual access to the exclusive events taking place during the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2021 and the Berlin Energy Week. To compensate for the loss of networking opportunities and chances to enjoy 1:1 chats with fellow journalists, high-level policymakers or representatives from green industries, this year’s BETD Media Fellows – Connecting Journalists conference will be organised as a virtual conference specifically for the BETD Fellows – alumni and present.
The “BETD Media Fellows – Connecting Journalists” conference will take place on March 18th with the option to “hop in, hop out”, accounting for the different time zones of participants. The conference is officially integrated into the Berlin Energy Transition Week and aims to go beyond the individual BETD sessions and digital side events. Knowledge exchange, exclusive one-on-one’s with policymakers and green innovators, skills workshops and networking are set to be the main foci of this BETD Media Fellows – Connecting Journalists – Conference.
Requirements
Your work and contribution to the BETD 2021 are of high value, as reporting on the international energy transition and raising awareness of the opportunities of renewable energy and energy efficiency are crucial in order to meet the Paris Climate Agreement targets.
