Applications are now open for the 2024/2025 Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund announces ten (10) fully funded scholarships opportunities for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The Fund was established by the Bank of Tanzania on 12th October 2009 in commemorating the great achievements of the Father of our Nation Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere. It is primarily dedicated for sponsoring undergraduate female students with outstanding academic achievement to pursue Science and Mathematics studies in Tanzanian accredited universities with the aim of promoting academic excellence of the students in respective fields. The Fund also sponsors male and female Tanzanians to pursue undergraduate studies in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.

In addition, the Fund sponsors both male and female best Tanzanians undergraduate students to undertake master’s degree Programmes in the afore-mentioned fields of study.

The scholarships are awarded as follows:

1. Seven (7) Scholarships Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree Programmes) The Undergraduate Scholarships are granted to top performers in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (ACSEE) to pursue Undergraduate degree programmes in two categories as follows:

Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students only); and
Category B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Economics, Accounting and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students)

Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students only) Applications for Scholarships under this category are for female candidates only and shall be required to meet the following criteria:

a) Applicant must be a female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education (ACSEE) in 2024.
b) c) Applicant must be a female student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at ACSEE in Science or Mathematics subjects in the 2024 Advanced Level Secondary School Education Examinations; and Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full time Bachelor’s degree programme in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.

The programme should commence in 2024/2025 academic year in the field of Science or Mathematics. Category B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students) Economics, Applications for Scholarships under this category are open to both male and female students and shall be required to meet the following criteria:

a) b) Applicant must be a male or female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education in 2024. Applicant must be a student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at 2024 ACSEE in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Accounting subjects in the Advanced Level Secondary School Examinations.
c) Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree programme in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania. The programme should commence in 2024/2025 academic year in any of the following fields: Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.

Master’s Degree Programmes (Three Scholarships) The master’s degree Scholarships are open to both female and male best students who are to enroll in Master’s degree programmes in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.

Requirements:

a) Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen and must not be more than thirty-five years. (35) of age and.
b) Applicant must have obtained First Class or Upper Second Class (honours) in the Bachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) score of 4.0 from an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
c) Applicant should have completed Bachelor’s degree in studies related to Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.
d) Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full time Master’s degree programme in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.

The programme should commence in 2024/2025 academic year in any of the following fields: Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.

Benefits

  • Successful applicants are granted full scholarship which covers all university direct cost (tuition fees etc.) and student direct costs (meal, accommodation, book and stationery allowance, field practical training, special faculty requirements etc.) as specified in the respective institutions’ cost structure including a brand-new laptop computer.

Applicants are required to complete Scholarship Application Forms which can be accessed on the BOT website: www.bot.go.tz. Printed forms can be obtained from the Fund Administrator, Bank of Tanzania Sub Head Office, 2 Mirambo Street, 11884, DAR ES SALAAM.

The forms can also be obtained at the Bank of Tanzania Head Office, Dodoma, and Branch Offices (Arusha, Zanzibar, Mwanza, Mbeya and Mtwara).

All application forms should be completed, scanned, and submitted online to the Chairperson, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund, Bank of Tanzania Sub-Head Office, 2 Mirambo Street, 11884, DAR ES SALAAM by 30th August 2024 (17:00hrs) through the following email addresses:

The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund is announcing Scholarships for the 2019/2020 academic year. The primary objective of the Fund is to promote interest and excellence in Mathematics and Science courses among female students in the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Fund provides Scholarships to six students annually as follows: –

a)Two scholarships to best female Tanzanian students to pursue undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Science in Tanzania’s accredited universities;

b)One scholarship to a male to student and one scholarship to a female student who are Tanzanians best performers to pursue undergraduate studies in Economics,Information Technology, Accounting and Finance;and

c)Two scholarships to students intending to pursue Master’s programmes in Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, Mathematics and Finance.The Scholarships are granted on academic merit and based on a rigorous selection process.Successful applicants are granted full scholarship which covers all university direct cost for tuition fees and student direct costs(meal, accommodation, book and stationery allowance, field practical training, special faculty requirement) as specified in the respective institutions’ costs structureas well as one laptop computer.

a)Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen.

The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund announces Scholarships for the 2018/19 academic year. The Fund grants Scholarships to best female Tanzanian students to pursue Undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Science in Tanzania’s accredited universities.
It is also partly used to sponsor both male and female Tanzanians top students to pursue undergraduate studies in Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance as well as best students intending to pursue Master’s programmes in those fields.
