CoreNet Global, the world’s leading association for corporate real estate (CRE), is launching its first-ever Academic Challenge. Students from around the world are invited to think creatively about a problem facing CRE professionals in companies like Google, AT&T, Duke Energy, AstraZeneca, Whirlpool, or many others. Your innovative ideas could help CRE departments in large corporations solve a problem.
The Academic Challenge is an important step in raising the awareness of corporate real estate as a profession and its impact on the global economy.
This competition is designed to attract students from all academic disciplines to tackle key challenges facing the profession. Teams of students (up to 5 from the same institution) and individuals are challenged to develop a new strategy for management of the entire real estate portfolio that provides the enterprise with all of the required space and develops the resource fluidity requested by the CEO.
Who can participate?
The CoreNet Global Academic Challenge is open to:
- Individual students, or teams of up to 5 from the same institution
- Full-time or part-time*
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D., etc.
- Any recognized institution of higher learning
- Individual students, or team of up to 5 from the same institution

*Participants must be currently enrolled with their respective institution at the time they submit their response for Round One.
- All Challenge Submissions Due 31 July
- Final Round 18 October
The submission period is open several months to accommodate the wide variety of calendars at universities around the world. The project should not take more than a month or so to complete.
Prizes and Recognition:
- The top 3 teams will be flown to the North American Summit in Los Angeles to present; they will be given complimentary passes to the Summit and one –year student memberships to CoreNet Global.
- The winning team will receive $10,000 to be equally divided between team members. In addition, the host institution of the winning individual or team will be awarded a grant of $10,000 to support the study of corporate real estate.
