2015 Echoing Green Global Fellowships for Social Entrepreneurs ( A stipend of $80,000 for individuals (or $90,000 for two-person partnerships)- Fully Funded

The Global Fellowship is  Echoing Greens’ twenty-seven year-old program for smart leaders who are deeply connected to the needs and potential solutions that may work best for their communities. Any emerging social entrepreneur from any part of the world working to disrupt the status quo may apply.

Echoing Green Funding:
• Stipend:
Fellows receive up to $90,000 of unrestricted funding for their organization that can be spent on anything from programming to salaries.

• Health Insurance Stipend:
Echoing Green believes Fellows need to be healthy to carry out their work, so both domestic and international Fellows can be reimbursed up to $4,000 a year for health insurance payments.
•  Leadership Development Funds:
Echoing Green believes in the importance of investing in the Fellows as leaders, so each Fellow receives $1,000 a year for professional development opportunities such as leadership coaching, attending academic courses, or visiting other Echoing Green Fellows’ organizations
Echoing Green manages three distinct Fellowship Programs. In Phase 1 of the application all applicants will automatically be considered for the Global Fellowship and may opt-in to be considered for the Black Male Achievement and/or Climate Fellowship.
The 2015 Fellowships will be awarded to individuals or partners who will receive:
• A stipend of $80,000 for individuals (or $90,000 for two-person partnerships) paid in four equal installments over two years
• A health insurance stipend
• A yearly professional development stipend
• Leadership development and networking gatherings
• Access to technical support and pro bono partnerships to help grow their organization and a dedicated Echoing Green portfolio manager
• A community of like-minded social entrepreneurs and public service leaders, including the Echoing Green network of nearly 600 Fellows at Large working all over the world

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for an Echoing Green Fellowship, the applicant must be:
  • Over 18 years old
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to commit a full 35 hour work week to their organization.
In order to be eligible for an Echoing Green Fellowship, the organization must be:
  • The original idea of the applicant(s)
  • In its start-up phase, usually within the first two years of operation
  • Independent and autonomous
There are often some misconceptions about what types of organizations are eligible for the Echoing Green Fellowship. Here is some clarification about organizations that are eligible:
  • An organization can be either a non-profit, a for-profit, or hybrid.
  • An organization does not only have to be run by one individual. Partnerships can apply for a Fellowship
  • Organizations still in the idea phase are eligible
There are some programs we will not fund. The following types of organizations are not eligible to apply:
  • Students, scholarships, or research projects
  • Lobbying or faith-based organizations
  • Existing organizations which have grown past their start-up phase

 

Phase 1: Online Application

  • Short essays about yourself, your idea/organization, and your partner (if applicable)
  • Resume

Semi-Final Round: Online Application and Supplemental Materials

Opens: February 12, 2015
Closes: March 2, 2015
Typical number of applicants at this stage: 400-500
Requirements:
  • Additional essays about yourself and your organization
  • Budget Questions
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Letters of Reference
  • Phone interview (if needed)

Finalist Week: In-Person Interview

Opens: May 11, 2015
Closes: May 16, 2015
Typical number of applicants at this stage: 100
Requirements:
  • Trip to New York City (funded by Echoing Green)
  • 60-second idea pitch
  • Panel interviews

2014 Echoing Green Climate Fellowship

Echoing Green’s new Climate Fellowship, built in partnership with The ZOOM Foundation, is specifically targeted for next-generation social entrepreneurs committed to working on innovations in mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

The threat of global climate change is one of the greatest humanitarian and economic challenges of our time. Echoing Green expects powerful social returns from investment in promising leaders who recognize the future impact that climate change will have on their health, communities, and economic outlook. Our interest is in considering the full spectrum of responses to the climate crisis – from innovative technology in Silicon Valley to community organizing in the developing world.

The 2014 Climate Fellowship will be awarded to individuals or partners representing up to ten organizations who will receive:

  • A stipend of $80,000 for individuals (or $90,000 for two-person partnerships) paid in four equal installments over two years
  • A health insurance stipend
  • A yearly professional development stipend
  • Leadership development and networking gatherings
  • Access to technical support and pro bono partnerships to help grow their organization and a dedicated Echoing Green portfolio manager
  • A community of like-minded social entrepreneurs and public service leaders, including the Echoing Green network of nearly 600 Fellows at Large working all over the world.

To be considered for the Climate Fellowship:

  • The applicant must be starting a new organization that focuses on innovations in mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
  • The applicant must be able to clearly articulate why confronting the climate crisis is one of their closest personal values.

2014 Echoing Green Global Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurs.

The  Echoing Green Global Fellowship is for smart young leaders who are deeply connected to the needs and potential solutions that may work best for their communities. Any emerging social entrepreneur from any part of the world working to disrupt the status quo may apply.

The Echoing Green Fellowship is a two-year Fellowship program that provides more than $2 million in seed funding to a diverse group of the world’s most promising social entrepreneurs.

Those selected receive funding to help launch new organizations; access to Echoing Green’s robust network; leadership development opportunities; and one-to-one support and counseling.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Applicants must have sufficient English fluency to participate in interviews and Echoing Green events.
  • Organization must be the original idea of the applicant.
  • Organization must be in a start-up phase.
  • Organization must be independent and autonomous.
  • Applicants must make a full-time commitment (minimum 35 hours per week) to the organization’s development for the duration of the two-year fellowship
  • Partnerships (organizations co-founded and led by two individuals) may apply. Both partners must meet all eligibility requirements and make a full-time commitment of no fewer than thirty-five hours per week to the development of the organization.
  • Applicants can be citizens of any nationality and their organizations can be based in any country
  • Applicants must commit to attending Echoing Green’s training conferences if selected as Fellows. All new Fellows attend a conference in summer the year they are selected, as well as a winter conference for two years. Echoing Green covers all expenses related to these events and will announce the dates a few months prior to each conference.
  • Note: Organizations may be for-profit or nonprofit.
