The ABB Global Trainee Program (GTP) for Supply Chain Management is designed for recent graduates who are looking for an international career in the SCM sector. During the Global Trainee Program you will be exposed to a variety of ABB operations in different countries (cross-functional, cross-divisional) – all of which have a positive impact on the world around us.

The program comprises training in the form of hands-on working experience and “off-the-job” formal training days, making the GTP the perfect start to your career.

Tasks:

The assignments are of six months each; they include:

The first 6 months are spent at the ABB office in your home country. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to move to ABB’s Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland for another 6 months, where you will gain an overview of ABB’s operations and work on a more strategic level in one of our finance group functions.
The third and fourth assignment will bring you to other countries to gain further international experience and increase your responsibility.
After successful completion of the program, you will be offered a permanent position in one of our local units in South Africa.
Your assignments will give you an insight into the following national and global supply chain management areas:
• Compliance management
• Stakeholder management
• Requisition and purchase order processing
• Sourcing execution
• Material scheduling
• Receipt processing
• Supply data management
• Category management
• Supplier management and quality
• Performance management

Requirements:

Ideally you will match the below requirements meet this profile:

• Recent graduate (Master of Science or equivalent) with good grades in a relevant discipline

• No more than 1.5 years of professional work experience (excluding internships) since your master’s (or equivalent degree)

• Excellent language skills: Fluency in English is required, other languages are a plus

• Global Mindset, with a passion to work in diverse cultures

• Mature, balanced personality with good communication skills

• Team player who is flexible and open to new ideas

• Ambitious personality with a natural curiosity and realistic career/life goals

The Afya Bora Consortium Fellowship is currently accepting applications for the 2014-2015 fellowship year.The Afya Bora Consortium Fellowship was created to train future leaders in global health. The focus is on African health professionals, but also includes U.S. trainees.

The Fellowship has two major components, a set of didactic modules and an assignment at an Attachment Site. The didactic modules provide trainees with basic knowledge and a variety of practical skills relevant to effective leadership, while the assignment at an Attachment Site provides practical experience in an African health organization and environment.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be eligible to apply all applicants MUST meet the following criteria

Be a citizens of US, Kenya, Botswana, Uganda, or Tanzania AND
Meet ONE of the following education requirements

Medical applicants need to have a M.D. or MBChB with a MMed, MPH or Masters degree in related field.
Nursing applicants need to have a Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health or a related field (PhD preferred).
Other Public Health professionals (those without a clinical degree) must have a PhD in Public Health or a related field.

Trainees

The one-year training program targets African and U.S. medical post-graduates, post-residency physicians, and graduate nurses with the majority of trainees from Africa. One important element of the program is the inclusion of both U.S. and African trainees who are both nurses and physicians.

The annual cohort is ~ 20 fellows per year (80% from African institutions).

Fellowship structure

The one-year fellowship will impart skills and knowledge in several key areas, including leadership and management; health policy; delivery of preventive and curative health services; research in support of health programs; and education and training. The curriculum will include three phases:

1^st Phase: A didactic core of 12 one-week Modules taught through direct participation and web-based learning methods.

2^nd Phase: A 9 month experiential, mentored component at a host organization “Attachment Site.”

3^rd Phase: After the one-year Fellowship, the Afya Bora Consortium will provide virtual and in-person opportunities that will enable “graduates” to continue to interact and collaborate with faculty, other graduates, and incoming fellows.

Program Funding:

The Afya Bora Fellowships provides 12 months of stipend support, and travel costs when attending the didactic core.
