SARETI is a comprehensive multidisciplinary education programme in health research ethics for Africa. SARETI aims to build African capacity for the ethical review of health research, and to strengthen Africa’s institutional training capacity to achieve and sustain this.
SARETI is a
University of KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg) Masters programme, funded by the
Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the
US National Institutes of Health (NIH) offering advanced learning in health research ethics. The programme is aimed at health researchers, scientists, members and administrators of Research Ethics Committees, public health personnel, social scientists, philosophers, ethicists, health journalists, lawyers, and other professionals whose work impacts on health-related research.
SARETI is an African programme in health research ethics that offers modular and applied learning. Trainees are enabled to develop the expertise required to ensure that health research in Africa has the welfare of research participants, individuals and communities as its primary focus. SARETI offers a structured full-time Masters programme specialised in health research ethics.
Eligibility Requirements:
Eligibility is restricted to applicants who:
- are able to undertake full-time study for 11 months;
- have an eligible prior degree;
- are involved in health research ethics and health-related research; and
- are resident in Africa.
Benefits:
- SARETI announces the availability of scholarships that offer full financial support (travel, course fees, accommodation, stipends) for Masters’ degree students for 2017.
- Applications from self-funded or externally-sponsored students are also welcome.
