The SANSA International Space Weather Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to learn all about space science and technology with a focus on space weather, a relatively new and exciting field involving the study of the Sun and its influence on space and the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Understanding space weather has become vital due to its impact on space and ground-based technological systems essential to modern everyday life.
The 2024 International Space Weather Camp will be hosted by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany, and the University of Alabama in Hunstville (UAH), USA, from 17 June to 12 July 2024.
Requirements
- Final year BSc Hon/BEng, MSc South African citizen or permanent resident students in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Electronics are invited to apply now for this exciting camp.
- Preference will be given to students with no space weather background.
Benefits
- Successful applicants will be fully funded to attend two weeks of lectures and practicals at each hosting facility (UAH, Hunstville, USA: 17 – 28 June and DLR, Neustrelitz, Germany: 1 – 12 July ).
- xFunding includes return flights, visa, accommodation, meals and subsistence as well as airport transfers.
