The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) has partnered with the NEPAD Southern Africa Network for Biosciences (SANBio) to implement the second season of the FemBioBiz Acceleration Programme in South Africa. SANBio is supported by BioFISA II, a Finnish-Southern African Partnership Programme to strengthen the SANBio network.
AWIEF and SANBio are looking for ambitious South African female entrepreneurs and leaders in bioscience-based businesses who would like to grow their business through an accelerator programme and gain regional exposure and access to international markets.
FemBioBiz will be rolled out in a total of 8 southern African countries including: Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Eligibility Requirements:
The programme will target female entrepreneurs with a business involving biotechnologies and other technologies in health or nutrition under the following categories:
• Innovative businesses – Entrepreneurs whose business is based on an innovative biotechnology or other technologies that impact health and nutrition;
• Growth businesses – Bioentrepreneurs whose business is at minimum R 500 000 and are looking at growing their business twice as much within a year;
• Social enterprises – Private biobusinesses or bioenterprises with impact targeting the base or bottom of the pyramid (BoP);
• Female students in tertiary institutions – .
The NEPAD Southern Africa Network for Biosciences (SANBio) provides a shared research, development and innovation platform for collaborative research in health and nutrition.
