Designed to support the achievement of employment equity targets through the development of previously disadvantaged individuals and to create a pool of talented resources in employment categories where skills are scarce, the Graduate Trainee Programme, from an initial intake of two graduates in 2005, has grown to include seven to ten graduate trainees per annum and has been very successful in creating equity successors.

The programme, which offers a one-year employment contract to graduates in Agriculture, Food Science, Engineering, Accounting and Sales & Marketing, is structured to ensure the expedited development of specific functional knowledge and skills as well as general business exposure for the graduates, many of whom are invited to visit overseas operations of McCain Foods Ltd.

McCain Foods(SA) is offering a structured one year Graduate Trainee Program to Graduates in the following fields:

  • Food Science
  • Consumer Science
  • Economic or Financial Management
  • Cost and Management Accounting
  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Information Systems and Technology
  • Human Resources
  • Supply Chain

The program offers Graduates the opportunity to gain experience in a complex business with a supply chain that starts from agriculture to manufacturing, supply chain and distribution to the sales and commercial side of this global FMCG and manufacturing business.

En parlant de confort et de richesse, si vous faites allusion au pays les plus pauvres où le revenu du paysan est passé de 1$ par jour à 3$, notamment grâce au passage d”une agriculture vivrière à une agriculture où le paysan vit des fruits au sens propre, il s”agit d”une illusion. Avec 1$, le paysan était certes pauvre, dépendait directement de la la communauté à laquelle il appartient et à une entraide directe, mais il mangeait et n”était pas endetté. En abandonnant l”agriculture vivrière sous la pression d”entreprise à qui il vent sa production, il gagne certes plus sur le papier, mais paie plus aussi (assurances obligatoires, prêts divers pour acheter les semences, les outils, achat de la nourriture qu”il ne produit pour lui et les siens). Cela fait de la croissance et augmente le pib du pays et appauvrit le paysan encore un peu plus. Il ne gagne plus 1$ par jour. Il est endetté. Il s”agit d”une illusion de richesse et d”une perte réelle d”autonomie sans pour autant de gains de confort réel.
