Applications are now open for the 2025 Institut Francais Residency Programme at the Cité Internationale des Arts. The Institut français x Cité internationale des arts residency program is aimed at artists and cultural professionals who have been living abroad for at least 5 years and who wish to develop a research and creative project in Paris during a three-, six- or nine-month residency.
The artists are supported by one or more cultural partners (French cultural network abroad, French or foreign cultural structures – art center, association, gallery, museum, approved structure, theater, production venue, concert hall, festival, etc.) who submit their application and then cover their international travel and living allowance. The Institut français offers the winners the free allocation of a studio-apartment within the Cité internationale des arts.
Disciplines:
The selection process is open to artists, cultural professionals, without age limit, from all countries, in the following disciplines:
- Architecture, landscape, urban planning
- Street arts, circus, puppetry
- Plastic arts
- Comic strip
- Cinema (animated cinema, fiction, creative documentary, video art)
- Digital creation (digital arts, video games, VR)
- Art criticism and exhibition curator
- Dance, performance
- Design, graphics
- Gastronomy
- Literature (fiction, essays, children’s literature, comics)
- Crafts
- Fashion
- Music (classical and contemporary music, current music and jazz)
- Photography
- Theater
Requirements
- Artist, creator, professional in the mentioned disciplines;
- Residing permanently abroad for at least 5 years;
- Engaged in a professional approach;
- Financial support from one or more associated partners;
- Free from professional activities throughout the residency period;
- Autonomous in managing the residency;
- Proficient in French and/or English;
Benefits
- The Institut français de Paris takes care of renting individual studio-accommodations at the Cité internationale des arts. These are located on the Marais site (18 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville, 75004). They are furnished, equipped with a Wi-Fi connection and include a work room with a bedroom area, a bathroom and a kitchenette.
- The associated partner(s) undertake to cover the round-trip travel costs; ensure that the artist has insurance covering repatriation, hospitalization costs, medical expenses and civil liability; ensure that the artist has a visa allowing him to stay in France for the entire duration of his residency; provide the artist with a living allowance of at least €1,000 per month.
