The CIDRZ HealthCorps Fellows Programme provides a valuable field training opportunity for future Zambian and expatriate public health leaders in the setting of a vibrant international organisation based in Lusaka. Fellowship attachments are 10-12 months long.

CIDRZ HealthCorps targets public health, medical, nursing and management graduates who are passionate about global health and wish to gain international exposure. Master’s degree preparation preferred, however graduates with a Bachelor’s degree and substantial experience are welcome to apply. Previous international work experience is highly regarded, but not required.

Canon Collins Scholarships 2017/2018 for Masters Study in the United Kingdom (Fully Funded)

Canon Collins Trust offers scholarships to support taught masters degree programmes at certain UK universities.

School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
partner with SOAS to co-fund two scholarships annually. Applicants must:

Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
Be applying for a full-time one-year taught masters course in any subject.
Have at least 2 years work experience in a relevant field

University of Sussex

The Canon Collins Trust partner with the Mandela Scholarship Fund at the University of Sussex to fund three awards annually. Applicants must:

Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

University of Edinburgh, MSc in African Studies

This scholarship is co-funded by Canon Collins and the University of Edinburgh. It is limited to the MSc in African Studies. Applicants must:

Be a national of, and normally resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Be in possession of a good Honours degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application

Benefits:

All these scholarships cover full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, a return economy flight, a settling-in allowance and other support whilst in the UK.

Do you want to be a part of an international network of emerging leaders focused on responsible leadership and sustainable business practices? Join the Swedish Institute Management Programme (SIMP) Africa.

The Swedish Institute Management Programme comprises three weeks of intensive training. The programme is divided into a two-day kick-off and two modules, spread out over a period of seven months.

SIMP Africa is partly funded by the Swedish Government and aims at emerging leaders from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Zambia. The programme curriculum revolves around advanced business-related problem solving, seminars and meetings with front figures in the commercial, political and cultural fields, as well as on-site company visits

Eligibility Requirements:

To apply to SIMP Africa you have to:

Be in a senior position within trade, industry or the public sector with a minimum of five years of managerial experience
Be in a position to drive decisions and have a mandate to influence the business strategies of your organisation
Be interested in learning more about Corporate Responsibility as a tool for good management
Be between 25-45 years old
Have a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English
Be a citizen of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia or Zambia and a resident of one of the selected countries

Please note that we will not be able to make any exceptions to the eligibility requirements.

Accommodation, food and travel

The programme is free of charge and costs related to accommodation, food and transport while in Sweden is covered by the Swedish Institute.
For module 1, flight tickets to and from Sweden is also covered by the Swedish Institute.
Kindly note that each participant is responsible for arranging and paying for their own air travel to and from the kick-off and for module 2, both which will take place in one of the selected countries in Africa.
Participants are also responsible for costs related to transport within their own countries.

Insurance

During the programme in Sweden all participants will be insured against acute illness and accident through the Swedish State Group Insurance and personal insurance by The Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Service Agency (Kammarkollegiet).

Women in Science (WiSci) Girls STEAM Camp 2017 for African High School Girls, Malawi (Fully Funded)

Join other girls from around the world for a unique educational opportunity and rich cross-cultural experience at the 2017 WiSci Girls STEAM Camp held in Malawi from July 30 – August 15, 2017. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design, and Mathematics. The camp will include a STEAM curriculum led by experts in their fields, as well as leadership development activities and learning excursions within Malawi.

Girl Up is proud to partner with the Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships, with the support of the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, to announce the third annual Women in Science (WiSci) Girls STEAM Camp (STEAM= Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Mathematics), to be held in Malawi during the summer of 2017.

A public-private partnership, WiSci Malawi will bring together 100 high school girls from the African continent and the United States to work together to enhance their STEAM skills, empower them to develop their leadership potential, and build camaraderie and networks that will propel them to new opportunities in STEAM fields. The theme of WiSci 2017 is using technology to create a safer, more secure world, with a focus on preventing gender-based violence.

The WiSci Camp aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to achieve gender equality and empower all girls and women, and supports the U.S. Global Strategy to Empower Adolescent Girls and the U.S. Strategy to Respond and Prevent Gender-based Violence Globally. The WiSci Camp is a component of the Let Girls Learn initiative, which was launched by the White House to open the doors of education for girls around the world.

Requirements:

Applicants must be citizens and residents of Malawi, Liberia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or the United States of America, self-identify as female and be between the ages of 15-18 to apply.
Applicants must have the expressed permission of a parent or guardian to apply for this opportunity.
It is required that applicants have at least one year of secondary school still left to complete, and can commit to attend the full duration of camp.
Applicants should also have regular access (at least once per week) to internet at a home, school, community center, internet café or other location.
Malawi – students in Form 1, Form 2, or Form 3 in the current term
Liberia – students in grade 9, grade 10 or grade 11 in the current term
Rwanda – students in Senior 3, Senior 4, or Senior 5 in the current term
Tanzania – students in Form 1, Form 2, or Form 3 in the current term

Zambia – students in grade 9, grade 10 or grade 11 in the current term

Benefits:

All selected participants will receive a scholarship to attend the camp free of charge. All costs associated with lodging, food, and activities during the camp are covered through the support of partners, in addition to transportation to/from the capital city of your home country (origin of departure). However, selected participants will be expected to pay for transportation to their country’s capital city from their hometown for their departure flight to Malawi.
Similarly, selected participants will be expected to pay for transportation to their hometown from their country’s capital city following their return flight from Malawi. This means:

· U.S. participants must pay for their costs to travel to/from Washington, D.C. to travel together to Malawi

· Rwandan participants must pay for their costs to travel to/from Kigali to travel together to Malawi

· Tanzanian participants must pay for their costs to travel to/from Dar Es Salaam to travel together to Malawi

· Liberian participants must pay for their costs to travel to/from Monrovia to travel together to Malawi

· Zambian participants must pay for their costs to travel to/from Lusaka to travel together to Malawi

· Ugandan participants must pay for their costs to travel to/from Kampala to travel together to Malawi

Limited need-based financial assistance is available for direct costs associated with travel to the capital city to fly to the camp. In the application, applicants are asked to indicate their family’s income level. The answer to this question will not impact the status of the application.

Participants can bring a limited amount of spending money for small souvenirs and snacks if they wish.

Canon Collins Trust Master of Laws (LLM) Scholarships 2017 for study at the University of London.

These scholarships allow individuals to study for the Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and/or the Master of Laws (LLM) by distance learning, at the University of London. Applicants can start at any level, and do not need to complete the whole programme. For example, applicants can start at Postgraduate Certificate level and work their way through to the LLM, or can stop after completing the PG Certificate. Applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree may start at LLM level, skipping the PG Certificate and Diploma.

Applicants for this scholarship must be:

Open Society Inclusive Education Scholarship Program 2017 for Study in the United States of America (Fully Funded)

The Inclusive Education Scholarship Program offers awards to individuals from China, Czech Republic, Ukraine, and selected countries in Africa and Latin America for an 18 month Master of Education degree.

The program’s objective is to provide education advocates and professionals with a foundation in the principles, values, and practices of inclusive education so that they will be equipped to lead reform of education policy and practice in their home countries.

With the knowledge and networks gained through the program, we expect that Fellows will deepen their understanding of all aspects of inclusion and play active roles in devising and implementing inclusive practices and policies.

Participating Institution
Fellows will study at Syracuse University School of Education, which demonstrates cutting-edge capacity for leadership in inclusive education, as well as legal education in disability rights.

Eligibility

The Program does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. Candidates with disabilities and those from marginalized communities are particularly encouraged to apply.

The competition is merit-based and open* to those meeting the following criteria:
• be a citizen and legal resident of China; Czech Republic; Ukraine; Kenya, Malawi,
Mozambique, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe; Argentina, or Peru at the time of application;
• have work experience in education with a demonstrated interest in advancing inclusive

Fellowship Terms
The fellowship provides:
• tuition and mandatory university fees;
• monthly stipend for room, board, and other living expenses;
• program-related travel;
• accident and health insurance during the program;
• funds for educational materials and professional development;
• all costs associated with pre-academic summer program and annual conference;
• support for students with disabilities to obtain reasonable accommodations necessary for
participating in the program of study.
The fellowship does NOT provide funding for dependent family members.

University Placement:

Finalists must be officially admitted to the host university program before becoming an official program grantee and being offered an award. Upon receiving the university
placements, students are responsible for securing required visas for both the summer school and for the host university.

Participant Responsibilities

Pre-Academic Summer Program: Grantees are required to participate in a four-week intensive preprogram (location to be determined) before starting study at Syracuse University in August 2017. The program consists of classes in academic writing, social science, and humanities-based seminars. Immediately after the summer program, finalists attend a pre-departure orientation.
Fellowship: Fellows must uphold the academic standards of the host institution and undertake fulltime study for the program’s duration. Failure to maintain academic and professional standards as defined by the host university may result in dismissal from the program.
Failure to follow the laws governing foreign students in the host country will result in dismissal from the program.

impactAFRICA Journalism Fund 2016 for Data-driven Investigative Storytelling – Round 3 ($USD 200,000 Grant)

impactAFRICA – Africa’s largest fund for data-driven investigative storytelling launches its second call for proposals today, seeking investigative story pitches by journalists in six countries.

Journalists with digital storytelling ideas that go beyond ordinary reporting to expose new or under-reported issues in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia stand to win cash grants, technology support, and editorial mentoring on their projects.

The initiative is part of impactAFRICA, a $500,000 programme to provide support for pioneering African journalism that uses data or digital tools to tackle development issues, such as public healthcare, water, sanitation, the effects of air and water pollution on African communities, climate change, and other development issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Eligibility

impactAFRICA is open to applications from teams of journalists or news innovators from all across the world. impactAFRICA does not, however, support parachute journalism.
All project teams should therefore include members from their target country, to ensure local context and local involvement in the storytelling.
impactAFRICA also does not support window-dressing.
Applicants should therefore ensure that all team members are integral to the project.

Benefits:

The ten semi-finalists will all attend a StoryCamp to refine their project plans, and will then receive cash grants up to a maximum of $20,000 along with additional support from technologists and editorial experts to help produce their projects.
The additional impactAFRICA prizes will recognise the best investigative report, the best data-driven story and the best service journalism project.

impactAFRICA will host a series of online StoryLab workshops and webinars ahead of the application deadline, with global experts and mentors, to help prospective applicants explore possible topics and to brainstorm solutions to technical challenges. The initiative is run through a partnership between Code for Africa (CfAfrica) and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). 2017 Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s and PhD study in the UK (Fully Funded)

Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s and PhD study in the UK are offered for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.

You can apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship for the following levels of study:

Master’s (one-year courses only)
PhD

Eligibility

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

Be a Commonwealth citizen, refugee, or British protected person
Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country
Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2017
By October 2017, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)

COMMONWEALTH PhD SCHOLARSHIPS

Up to 36 months’ support towards completion of a three-year full-time doctoral postgraduate qualification at an eligible UK university.

COMMONWEALTH MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIPS

12 months’ support towards completion of a full-time taught postgraduate qualification at an eligible UK university.
The CSC funds one-year Master’s programmes only, and does not fund MBAs.

Scholarship Worth:

Each scholarship provides:

Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor usually the cost of journeys made before your award is finally confirmed)
Approved tuition and examination fees
Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,034 per month, or £1,268 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2015-2016 levels)
Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable
Warm clothing allowance
Study travel grant towards the costs of study-related travel within the UK or overseas
For PhD Scholars, fieldwork grant towards the cost of fieldwork undertaken overseas (usually the cost of one economy class return airfare to your fieldwork location)
For PhD Scholars, paid mid-term visit (airfare) to your home country (unless you have claimed (or intend to claim) spouse and/or child allowances during your scholarship, or have received a return airfare to your home country for fieldwork)
If your scholarship is at least 18 months long, the following family allowances:
Spouse allowance of £222 per month if you and your spouse are living together at the same address in the UK (unless your spouse is also in receipt of a scholarship)
Child allowance of £222 per month for the first child, and £109 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your spouse and children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK
If you are widowed, divorced, or a single parent (irrespective of the length of your scholarship), child allowance of £444 per month for the first child, and £109 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK

2016/2017 Gritcube Fellowship Programme for Young Zambian Entrepreneurs

Gritcube is seeking entrepreneur fellows for its 2016/2017 Fellowship! Gritcube is looking for local Zambians with business ideas that have the potential to employ 10-50 Africans within 5 years. Possible sectors include, but are not limited to: agribusiness, food and retail, manufacturing, technical services, technology, and energy.

Gritcube will competitively select 10-12 innovative Zambian startups to enter our structured 3-month acceleration program. The acceleration program will involve scheduled deliverables and monthly business themes. The work that each startup completes will be evaluated by a personal consultant based in the U.S. and the Gritcube executive team.

At the end of the 3-month period, Gritcube will choose the highest performing startups during the acceleration period to enter our 3-9 month incubation program. The length of incubation depends on performance of the startup and ability to access funding.

How Gritcube Programming Works:

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) is the development finance institution established by the Member States of OPEC in 1976 as a collective channel of aid to the developing countries. OFID works in cooperation with developing country partners and the international donor community to stimulate economic growth and alleviate poverty in all disadvantaged regions of the world.

OFID is a long standing supporter of One Young World and has enabled 100 young leaders to participate in One Young World Summit since 2011. Canon Collins Trust seeks to support exceptional individuals who are committed to social justice in Southern Africa and for whom a postgraduate qualification is an essential tool in working to create an open and just society.

In early 2015 the Trust revised its South African scholarship awards policy. For the next 3 years we will be offering scholarships only to those studying in three areas:

Justice, which includes Law, Economics, Politics and the Environment
Education: policy and practice
Humanities, which includes Literature, History, Anthropology and the Arts

Applications for courses that are not within these areas (for example MBAs, medical sciences, sports sciences, applied sciences) will be rejected.

Eligibility Requirements:

In addition, to be considered for a scholarship under this programme you must:

You may qualify for a scholarship for an RNTC course. The most commonly used scholarship for our courses are the NFP and MSP (MENA) scholarships.

NFP stands for Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP), MSP stands for MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Scholarship Programme. NFP scholarships are available for 50 countries, MSP scholarships for 9 countries.

You can only apply for a scholarship for your chosen course during the ‘application window’ for that course. The current period to apply for an NFP scholarship is from May 31 until July 22, 2016. MSP applications will be possible later.

An NFP or MSP scholarship will cover the full cost of your travel and visa (if required), accommodation and meals, insurance, and the course fee. The NFP and the MSP scholarship programmes are funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and administered by Nuffic, the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education.

Criteria for an NFP scholarship

Apart from the RNTC course admission requirements, you need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for an NFP scholarship:

The Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa is now receiving applications for Cohort Four (15 August – 9 September 2016) and Cohort Five (19 September – 14 October 2016).

The YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa (RLC SA) is hosted by the University of South Africa at the Graduate School of Business Leadership in Midrand, South Africa. It serves as the regional hub across southern Africa to encourage transformational learning and enhance leadership skills.

The RLC SA aims to create critical thinkers who can solve complex, multidisciplinary problems; foster entrepreneurial and innovative thinking; and encourage cross-border communication and multicultural collaboration. The RLC SA develops the skills of young African leaders by providing core training in contemporary African issues, as well as specialized training in three key areas: Business and Entrepreneurship; Civic Leadership and Public Management and Governance.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) was launched by President of the United States Barack Obama as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. The need to invest in grooming strong, results-oriented leaders comes out of the statistics: nearly 1 in 3 Africans are between the ages of 10 and 24, and approximately 60% of Africa’s total population is below the age of 35.

Requirements:

The RLC SA serves participants ages 18-35 from 14 countries in Southern Africa: Angola, Botswana, The Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, The Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Selected participants will engage in leadership training in one of three tracks of study:

* Business and Entrepreneurship
* Civic Leadership
* Public Management and Governance

The 4 week program includes:

* Residential learning on-site at the Center in South Africa
* Site visits and simulation exercises
* Group and Individual project work

The program encourages applications from:
* Rural based and economically disadvantaged communities
* Young leaders living with disabilities
* Women
* People who are HIV positive or who are living with AIDS
* Individuals that represent and advocate for the rights of LGBTIQ communities across the region
* Other minority groups

There is no fee to apply for or attend the program. Successful applicants will be provided round-trip transportation to the program, lodging, meals, and course materials thanks to our generous partners including USAID and the MasterCard Foundation. All personal incidentals such as passport fees, supplementary meals, entertainment, etc. will be at the expense of the participant.

The program is residential and requires a commitment to attend all sessions from 15 August – 9 September 2016 for Cohort 4 or all sessions from 19 September– 14 October 2016 for Cohort 5. Following the residential program, there is an online project component for three weeks.

Swedish Institutes’ Creative Force Africa and Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Programme 2016/2017 for Change Agents

The Creative Force programme supports projects which aim to strengthen democracy and freedom of expression in the target countries. This shall be achieved through collaborations between institutions and agents of change who work with either culture or the media to bring about change.

This year’s second (and final) call for applications – for seed funding only – is now open, with deadline 17 May 2016. The call is for projects which should be completed in time to submit final reports to the Swedish Institute by the deadline of 28 February 2017.

Two types of funding

Creative Force Africa and Middle East & North Africa(MENA) supports collaborative projects with the overall objective to strengthen democratisation and freedom of expression in the target countries. These aims shall be achieved through mutual learning processes and sustainable networks between organisations and agents of change who work with either culture or the media to bring about change.

The primary target group for the Creative Force programme are agents of change and opinion-makers who, through culture or the media, work with creative processes to strengthen democratisation and human rights.
These can be organisations and groups of cultural actors and journalists, other actors within media organisations as well as human rights defenders and political activists, women’s rights groups, youth organisations or other relevant actors who work to increase democratisation and freedom of expression.
The final beneficiaries of Creative Force initiatives are groups and/or individuals who are directly positively influenced by the project outcomes, especially vulnerable groups in the programme countries and regions: women, children and youth as well as minority groups in especially vulnerable positions such as LGBTQ individuals or people with disabilities.

Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarship 2017 for Southern Africans to study in the UK,Ireland or South Africa (Fully Funded)

The Beit Trust offers annually a number of Postgraduate Masters or PhD Scholarships abroad for studies or research to graduates who are domiciled in Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe (the beneficial area) Scholarships are taken up at a university in the United Kingdom, Ireland or South Africa, for study in a subject of the individual’s choice appropriate to the needs of the beneficial area.

Duration is normally for a maximum of three years at the discretion of Trustees. In addition, shared awards for a taught Masters Degree are offered at the University of Cambridge (BC); University of Cape Town (BCT); University of Edinburgh (BE)University of Glasgow (BG); Imperial College London (BI); University of Leeds (BL); University of Oxford -Wadham College (BOW); Rhodes University (BRU); Stellenbosch University (BS); University of Strathclyde (BSC); and the University of Witwatersrand (BW).

There is no academic difference between shared Postgraduate Scholarships and solely Beit-funded Postgraduate Scholarships, but, for economic and pastoral reasons, selection boards generally favour partner-universities. Many Beit Scholars choose the Africa-friendly partner- universities listed above where shared costs permit a larger number of scholarships to be offered to the beneficial area.

Eligibility:

Graduates who are domiciled in Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe
The Beit Trust is constrained by Act of Parliament to sponsoring ONLY students who are domiciled within Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe. The Trust cannot consider applications from those who have already commenced their course.
All applicants (except medical and veterinary doctors) must be under 30 years of age on 31 December of the year of application.
Some experience of work after completion of a first degree is also desirable.
Doctors and vets must be under 35 years of age on 31 December and should have completed 18 months of internship and preferably a one-year rural posting in the relevant country.

Benefits:

Fees and costs of tuition and related academic expenses are paid by the Trust direct to the universities.
Payment of a personal allowance, index linked in accordance with guidance from an independent authority covering maintenance support.
Other allowances are paid for arrival, a laptop and printing of a thesis, and return home.
Economy Class air passages are provided by the Trust for the initial journey to the place of study, and for the return at the end of the course.
No allowances are paid for spouses or other family members.

Journalists who report on water and sanitation issues in six African countries can win fully-funded study trips to major newsrooms in the United States as part of a new contest by impactAFRICA.

Access to safe water across Africa is a major public health issue that is often underreported by mainstream media across Africa, despite research by agencies such as the United Nations which estimates that 300 million of the continent’s 800 million citizens live in water-scarce environments with millions dying unnecessarily from water-borne diseases.

impactAFRICA is the continent’s largest fund for data-driven storytelling and is offering $500,000 in support through a series of contests this year to help boost digital journalism across the continent.

impactAFRICA is therefore keen to showcase journalism that shines a light on the extent of water challenges, including under-reported or hidden water crises, as well as reportage on pragmatic solutions to the problems.

An independent international jury will select the best report in each of three categories as winners. The categories are: best community impact; best audience engagement; and best use of data.

Requirements:

Any reportage on water or sanitation issues in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania or Zambia is eligible.
Stories can be on any platform and in any format, as long as they are published or broadcast in the target countries during the period March 30 to June 30, 2016.

DREAMS is seeking innovative solutions to further DREAMS’ commitment to reduce HIV infections by infusing new thinking and high-impact approaches to meet the urgent, complex needs of adolescent girls and young women in 10 sub-Saharan African countries. DREAMS will award a total of up to $85 million for innovations that help girls in the DREAMS countries develop into Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored, and Safe women.

Eligibility

DREAMS encourages applications from most types of organizations – including for-profit, non-profit, academic organizations, and multilateral organizations. Written submissions must be completed in full to be considered eligible for review. Submissions will only be accepted in English; any other language will be considered ineligible.

The Challenge greatly encourages applications from organizations that have not previously received U.S. government funding, either directly or indirectly, and/or are based in one or more of the 10 DREAMS countries.

How to Apply:

Application Stages

Stage 1: Expression Of Interest

Applicants will use the Challenge Application Portal to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) providing a concise summary of their innovative approach. Unless explicitly approved by DREAMS, all EOIs must be submitted through the Challenge Application Portal by March 28, 2016 at 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Key information required in the EOI includes:

Organization name, address, and point of contact
Primary and secondary, if applicable, Challenge Focus Areas
DREAMS focus countries and districts
Project description, including implementation approach, intended impacts, and sustainability plan
Description of key monitoring and evaluation indicators
Description of the innovative nature of the approach
Description of delivery team, including partner organizations, if applicable
Annual revenue/income for the last three years (in US dollars)
Estimated budget with supporting narrative

Stage 2: Application

All applicants are expected be informed of their selection status in May 2016. Applicants whose EOIs are selected as finalists will be invited to submit an Application. Applications will require finalists to elaborate on information provided in the EOI and respond to additional questions to enable a detailed evaluation of the solution.

The Building Bridges Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to foster youth-led solutions from the grassroots and to implement this on a national, if not global, level. We aim to bridge the gaps between young people from the grassroots, government officials and CEOs.

Building Bridges Foundation do this by traveling on a bus through 8 African countries. We want to learn from young people on the ground to give them a voice and to work together on youth-driven solutions for youth employment and youth entrepreneurship.

A Youth Ambassador will receive ownership over the Building Bridges project in his or her country. This provides them with the opportunity to champion their vision for a more just world. They will lead their peers and the wider community in pursuing the mission of the Building Bridges project.

Thanks to a collaboration between the Cultures of Resistance Network, the SOAS Students’ Union, International Students’ House and the American Friends of SOAS (AFSOAS), two postgraduate scholarships are available in 2016-17 at SOAS, University of London.

Worth

Each scholarship is valued at £25,500 in total, funded by Cultures of Resistance and the SOAS Students’ Union. Fees will be deducted from this amount and the remainder will be used toward maintenance.
In addition, each scholar will benefit from free accommodation at International Student House (ISH) and some food vouchers to be spent in the ISH restaurant.

The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity is a $50 million challenge fund to extend financial services to people living in poverty.

The innovation competition seeks applications from organisations aiming to design, pilot, test, and launch new financial products and services that can effectively meet the financing needs of people living in poverty in rural and agricultural areas.

The Innovation Competition seeks proposals for a new financial product, service or process that will increase access to finance for rural poor people. Mastercard Foundation hopes to harness the creativity of the private sector to facilitate increased financial access for underserved markets and financially excluded people living in rural and agricultural areas in Africa.

Eligibility Requirements:

The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity will only support ideas from institutions looking to deliver a financial service, product or process to rural poor people in an eligible African country (see list of countries above).

Projects may be proposed by a single institution or by a partnership of two or more of them (which could include a non-governmental organization); however, the proposal must be made by one company acting as the lead organization.

Firms that apply should have an established and verifiable institutional track record. The Fund will only consider start-ups in exceptional circumstances where there is strong evidence that the new company has credible and experienced investors and management team.

Firms that apply should have transparent ownership and governance structures.

Examples of institutions that are eligible include:

Banks;
Non-bank financial institutions such as insurance or leasing companies;
Agribusinesses that provide a financial service or that partner with a financial institution to deliver a financial service to their supply chain;
Firms that use mobile or IT technology to support the delivery of financial services to rural poor people; and
Firms that provide a non-financial service designed to facilitate increased access to financial services for financially excluded rural poor people. These firms may apply on their own as a lead applicant or may apply in partnership with a financial institution or agribusiness.

Summary of Eligibility Criteria

Eligible projects under The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity must meet the following criteria:

The proposal must be for a project within an institution.
Projects may be proposed by a single institution or by a partnership of two or more of them (which could include a non-governmental organization); however, the proposal must be made by one company acting as the lead organization.
Projects for the Innovation Competition must take place in one of the countries listed as eligible for the Innovation Competition.
Projects in the Scaling Competition must take place in one of the eight core countries eligible for that competition.
Projects must demonstrate the potential to increase the provision of financial services to financially excluded poor people in rural areas of eligible countries.
Applications made to the Innovation Competition should be for support of between US$250,000 and US$1,000,000. For the Scaling Competition, applications should be for support of between US$750,000 and US$2,500,000.

As part of the CSFP programme, New Zealand offers New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships to candidates from developing Commonwealth countries for postgraduate study (Masters and PhD) in New Zealand universities on a contestable basis. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are highly competitive and for top level graduates.

New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme and managed and managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). The selection process in New Zealand is managed by Universities New Zealand.

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is an international programme under which member governments offer scholarships and fellowships to citizens of other Commonwealth countries.

The CSFP was established at the first Commonwealth education conference in 1959 and is reviewed by education ministers at their triennial meetings. The CSFP is the only scholarship scheme in the world to receive such high-level recognition.

Qualification types

New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are available for the following postgraduate qualifications:

The Nominating Agency in your country will then nominate the two strongest applications to be forwarded to Universities New Zealand to be assessed against all other nominated New Zealand Commonwealth applications from across the Commonwealth.

When submitting your New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarship application to your local Nominating Agency you must attach the following official documentation:

OFID is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2016/2017.

OFID scholarships will be awarded to four students or candidates for master’s degree studies. Applicants must be from a developing country (except OFID Member Countries), and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development, from any recognized university/college in the world.

The OWSD Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDC) at Centres of Excellence in the South. The Fellowship is offered to women scientists to pursue postgraduate research in a field of the natural sciences.

This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.

With funds generously provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), OWSD has instituted a fellowship programme for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a PhD, at centres of excellence in the South (developing countries), outside their own country.

Eligibility Requirements:

Open to qualified women science graduates from countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (see list below).
If applicants are over 40 years of age, they should include a brief explanation of why their research career has been delayed.
The minimum qualification is an MSc degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding BSc honours degree in the natural sciences, engineering or information technology disciplines (see list below).
Host institutions must be located in a developing country. This must be a different country from the applicant’s home country.
Applicants must provide a preliminary acceptance letter from at least one host institute. The letter must be prepared based on the sample on page 10 and be signed by the head of department, potential host supervisor or postgraduate studies coordinator.
The application will be evaluated more favourably if the preliminary acceptance letter is supported by a letter of commitment from the prospective host supervisor, describing why the host institute is appropriate for the subject of study and confirming the supervisor’s interest in working with the student.
Students from eligible countries already enrolled on a PhD programme in their home country can apply for the sandwich option. This gives them access to expertise and resources that might not be available at the home institute.
Applicants already on site in the host country will not be considered eligible since this implies that they have already secured sufficient funding for their studies.
The applicant must be willing to return to her own country after completion of the fellowship.
Accompanying persons are not eligible for support.

Africa’s first data-driven investigative journalism initiative has been launched with $500,000 in grants and technical support for reportage that changes lives. The new impactAFRICA initiative will seek to support pioneering data journalism that tackles development issues, such as public healthcare, in six initial African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

impactAFRICA is an initiative of Code for Africa (CfAfrica) and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ).

impactAFRICA helps newsrooms find answers to these questions through a comprehensive support programme that includes regular webinars by global experts as well as physical StoryCamps that bring together multidisciplinary teams to craft storytelling prototypes that use new technologies.

Training on its own is not enough. impactAFRICA therefore also offers one-on-one mentoring by both media specialists and developmental experts.

Eligibility:

The new impactAFRICA initiative will seek to support pioneering data journalism that tackles development issues, such as public healthcare, in six initial African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

Benefits:

The support consists of more than just cash prizes. impactAFRICA will offer support from Code for Africa’s software labs in all six participating countries, to help finalists build digital/mobile prototypes of their projects.
Finalists will also get access to data analysts and design experts to help them transform their projects into dynamic interactive multimedia stories.
Finalists will be flown to the pan-African MediaParty in Cape Town in May 2016, for an intensive StoryCamp to help show shop their projects.

Selection:

An independent impactAFRICA jury will then evaluate all finalist projects, and will award cash prizes in the following categories:

Best investigative report
Best data-driven story
Best service journalism

Both the journalists and their newsrooms will receive cash prizes.

impactAFRICA will also work with winners to syndicate their work internationally or otherwise promote their reportage to help them win the largest possible audiences. Selected winners will also be sponsored to showcase their work at international media events.

The U.S. Department of State and IREX announce an open competition for a program that will bring outstanding secondary-level school teachers to the U.S. for a professional development opportunity.

TEA seeks to:

• Enhance teachers’ expertise in their teaching discipline and equip them with a deeper understanding of best practices in teaching methods, lesson planning, and instructional technology.

• Create among educators a more nuanced understanding of the U.S.

• Develop productive and lasting relationships and mutual understanding between

U.S. and international teachers and their students.

• Contribute to improving teaching in participating countries and communities by preparing participants to serve as teacher leaders who, upon returning home, will apply and share

their experience and skills with their peers and students.

ELIGIBLE TEACHING DISCIPLINES FOR TEA ARE:

The Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program provides international teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States. TEA consists of a six-week non-degree, non-credit customized academic program including seminars on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning , and instructional technology.

Participants will also take part in a practicum in a U.S. secondary school near their

host university to work closely with U.S. teachers and teach and present to U.S. students. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided throughout the program. The international participants will travel to the United States in two cohorts of approximately 80 teachers each in the spring or fall 2017.

Upon returning home, TEA program alumni are eligible to apply for small grants for essential teaching materials, follow-on training for other teachers, collaborative projects between schools in their home country and the United States, and other activities that build on their U.S. experience.

The Swedish Institute Management programme is a unique programme for managers from Africa, Europe and Asia. The programme offers a combination of theory and practice, including advanced business-related problem-solving, seminars and meetings with prominent experts in the commercial, political and cultural fields, as well as company visits.

SIMP Africa is partly funded by the Swedish Government and aims at emerging leaders from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Zambia. The programme curriculum revolves around advanced business-related problem solving, seminars and meetings with front figures in the commercial, political and cultural fields, as well as on-site company visits. By providing the platform for knowledge sharing, experience exchange and quality networking, the programme aims to challenge traditional approaches, reinforce professional skills, deepen cross-cultural perspectives and unite the participants in a long-lasting and active global network.

The programme, spread over seven months, comprises three weeks of intensive training divided into an introductory kick-off at the Swedish Embassy in each country, a two week module in Sweden and a concluding five day module in Africa.

The programme comprises of three weeks of intensive work spread over approximately four months, allowing the participants:

to understand the nature and business potential of Corporate Responsibility and to test Corporate Responsibility tools applicable to their own company
to widen their personal and professional network both in Sweden and in their home countries
to deepen their knowledge of modern international business and increase their cultural awareness

The aim of the programme is to build a network consisting of people interested in the process of promoting enhanced relations and business cooperation between Sweden, Africa, Europe and Asia.

During the programme, the participant will work closely with management level in a Swedish company/public administration on real time case studies to understand how they are dealt with currently in the respective organisations and what best practices can be taken back.

The programme is designed to uncover the advanced concepts and practical tools required for leaders to succeed in today’s global world. The programme participants will work in diverse teams in order to engage different thoughts and experiences of the participants. The idea is to create hands on approach and an opportunity to apply your knowledge of management and corporate responsibility in other businesses/sectors.

Applications for 2016 open on 1 January and can be made by any for-profit business based in Africa, including new business ideas which have been in existence for less than three years.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) a 12-week programme to equip startups with the basic skills required to launch and run their businesses at the early stage of their growth.The programme will bring together the best tools and frameworks to teach and hone entrepreneurship skills in Africa and globally.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme #TEEP, a Pan-African entrepreneurship initiative of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, is a multi-year programme of training, funding, and mentoring, designed to empower the next generation of African entrepreneurs.

The programme will be a mix of online and face-to-face instruction, including webinars and video tutorials with support from your mentor throughout. It will cover topics on starting and scaling a business, business development, marketing strategy, effective management and product design.

The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme is open to citizens and legal residents of all 54 African countries.

The program offers quality leadership training across the public, private and civil sectors. RLC SA graduates will be exposed to high level theory from experienced professors and offered an opportunity.

A graduate of the RLC SA is expected to be well rounded because they will be exposed to a multi-disciplinary approach to training. Every year the International Journalists‘ Programmes (IJP) offer a bursary to up to six young Southern African (SADC-Member States: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe + Kenia) and up to five young German journalists.

For two months (June/July) the Southern African delegates will have the chance to work in Germany. They will be integrated into the day-to-day journalism of their host newsroom while also researching stories for their home media. It is assumed that all candidates have a strong command of the English language.

German language abilities are an advantage but are not mandatory. The Southern African Bursary is a multiyear effort to shape an integrated understanding of the other country and region and to foster relations between Africa and Germany. The bursary is intended to enable young journalists to gain valuable insights into the political, economical,

cultural as well as the social fabric of the host country.

The Southern African-German Journalists’ Programme is a multiyear effort to shape an integrated understanding of the other country and region and to foster relations between Africa and Germany. It has been offered as a response to concerns about an increasing political and cultural detachment between Africa and Europe. The bursary is intended to enable young journalists to gain valuable insights into the political, economical, cultural as well as the social fabric of the host country.

Benefits:

The Southern African delegates receive a fixed payment of 3.000 Euro.
This is expected to cover most of their travel, accommodation and living expenses. No further payments will be made: delegates are expected to use their own funds for any further costs. Payment for their work with the host media is not envisaged

All journalists from Southern Africa (SADC Member States + Kenia) between the age of 25 and 40 who regularly work for a media organization can apply.

Write a 800 word essay addressing the following topics

A journalistic reference from your editor or head of department is required (freelancers should submit a reference from a senior journalist). It should also guarantee your leave of absence for the duration of the program.

The Government of India is offering the Africa Scholarship through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under Africa Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M. Phil./Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in various Indian Universities/Institutes.

At the inaugural plenary of the India – Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi in April 2008, the Honorable Prime Minister of India announced the Government of India’s initiative to enhance the academic opportunities for students of African countries in India by increasing the number of scholarships for them to pursue under-graduate, post-graduate and higher courses.
The ICCR implements this scheme on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs.

Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS) 2016 for Master’s Level Study in Sweden (Fully Funded)

The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS) are awarded to students from selected countries for full-time master’s level studies in Sweden starting in the autumn semester 2016. The scholarships cover both living costs and tuition fees. An estimated 300 scholarships will be available.

SISS is the Swedish government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. It is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden and administered by the Swedish Institute (SI), the programme offers a unique opportunity for future leaders to develop professionally and academically, to experience Swedish society and culture, and to build a long-lasting relationship with Sweden and with each other.

The goal is to enable the scholarship holders to play an active role in the positive development of the societies in which they live. Ideal candidates are ambitious young professionals with outstanding academic qualifications, demonstrated leadership experience and a clear idea of how a study programme in Sweden would benefit their country.

The scholarship is intended for full-time master’s level studies of one or two years, and is only awarded for programmes starting in the autumn semester. The scholarship is granted for one academic year (two semesters) at a time. It will be extended for programmes longer than two semesters, provided that the student has passed his/her courses/credits.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be from an eligible country and have at least a total of two years of experience from voluntary work, paid or unpaid internship, position of trust and/or full/part time employment.
Applicants must display outstanding academic qualifications and leadership experience. In addition, applicants should show an ambition to make a difference by working with issues which contribute to a just and sustainable development in their country, in a long term perspective.
Eligible countries
The programme is open to three different categories of countries. Approximately 100 scholarships within each category will be available.

Category 1:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina-Faso, Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar (Burma), Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Category 2:

Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Syria.

Category 3:

Candidates with citizenships from countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients other than the above, or ODA countries included in other SI scholarship programmes, can apply within this category.

Kindly note that to be considered for a scholarship, you must first both complete your separate application to the master’s programme(s) before the university deadline 15 January 2016, and pay your university admissions application fee (SEK 900) before 1 February 2016

The scholarship application consists of two steps, the first step will be open 1 December 2015 – 20 January 2016, followed by a detailed second step for successful candidates from the first step, 8–13 February 2016.

Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship covers both tuition fees (paid directly to the Swedish university/university college by the Swedish Institute) and living expenses to the amount of SEK 9,000 per month. There are no additional grants for family members.
The scholarship period cannot be altered or extended beyond the study programme period, nor can the scholarship be transferred to a study programme other than the awarded one.
Travel grants

Scholarship holders from countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients receive a travel grant in connection with their scholarship. The travel grant is a one-time payment of SEK 15,000.

Insurance

Scholarship holders are insured by the Swedish State Group Insurance and Personal Insurance against illness and accident during the scholarship period.
Network memberships

All SI scholarship holders become members of, and help develop, the SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL) – a network which offers exclusive opportunities for SI scholarship holders during their stay in Sweden.

Application Process:

To be considered for a scholarship, you must first both complete your separate application to the master’s programme(s) before the university deadline of 15 January 2016, and pay your university admissions application fee (SEK 900) before 1 February 2016.
For the second step of the scholarship application you will be required to submit a Motivation letter, a Europass format CV, a passport copy, and two recommendation letters. The documents must be in English. If any mandatory document is not used or completed in English the application is deemed ineligible.

First step 1 December 2015 – 20 January 2016:

The first part of the application process will open on 1 December 2015. Apply through our online system. No documents will be required in the first step.

The scholarship application form is now available at the SI application portal. Application deadline is 24:00 CET on Wednesday 20 January 2016.

Second step 8–13 February 2016:

Prepare a motivation letter according to the Swedish Institute template. Motivation letters in any other templates or formats are NOT valid. Make sure to read the questions in the motivation letter thoroughly, and be specific and personal in your reasoning. Answers may not exceed the allowed number of characters (letters and spaces) for each question. The template will be uploaded here in January 2016.
Prepare a Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English, only using the Europass format of maximum three pages. A CV submitted in another format than the Europass format is NOT valid. Additional pages will not be considered.
Prepare two references according to the SI template. At least one of the references must be in connection to one of the work experiences you mention in your application. Remember that a letter of reference which is not signed is NOT valid. The reference template will be uploaded here in January 2016.
Prepare a copy of your passport to enclose with your application. Your personal data including citizenship and photograph must show clearly.
The online application portal opens on 8 February 2016. Apply through our online system. A link to the online system will be published on this page on 8 February 2016.

An application without a valid and completed motivation letter, CV, letter of reference or copy of passport is deemed ineligible.

You need to submit a separate copy of your scholarship application for each eligible master’s programme which you have applied to. For example, if you have applied to the maximum four master’s programmes, you must submit four separate and complete online scholarship applications.

Each application must have a motivation letter, a CV, two letters of reference and a copy of your passport attached. You may use the same motivation letter, CV, passport copy and letters of reference for each application, or create unique ones for each master’s programme.

The Government of Brunei Darussalam is offering annual scholarships under a special scholarship award scheme, for the 2016/2017 academic session. Tenable in Brunei Darussalam, the aim of the scholarship awards is to provide applicants, with the opportunity to study at University of Brunei Darussalam [UBD], Islam Sultan Sharif Ali university [UNISSA] and Brunei Institute of Technology [ITB].

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be citizens of ASEAN, OIC, Commonwealth Member Countries and others are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18 – 25 for undergraduate programmes and not exceed 35 for postgraduate programmes on the 31 July 2016.
The award is not eligible, to Brunei Permanent Residents and foreigners residing in Brunei Darussalam.

Scholarship Worth:

The scholars are exempted from paying tuition fees and other appropriate compulsory fees as determined by the university for the duration of the programme.

One return economy class air-ticket for the most economically viable route to Brunei Darussalam will be determined by the Brunei Darussalam Government. No additional assistance will be provided towards other travel expenses.

Allowances payable will include:

Monthly personal allowance of BND500.00
Annual Book Allowance BND600.00
Monthly food allowance of BND150.00
Upon completion of the program, Baggage allowance to a maximum institution of BND250.00 to ASEAN region and BND500.00 to non ASEAN region.

Now in its 11^th year, the Global Fellows Program is a 12-month fellowship for individuals dedicated to changing the way the world tackles poverty. Acumen is looking for potential social sector leaders who embody service above self. Leaders who take a systems change approach to the world’s biggest problems and have the moral imagination to effect long term change.

The Acumen Global Fellows Program is a full-time 12-month fellowship designed to train the next generation of social leaders who demonstrate service above self.

Requirements:

Acumen is looking for individuals dedicated to addressing the problems of poverty and who bring a blend of leadership capabilities and strong business skills that are relevant and translatable to building social businesses.
Leaders who are strong collaborators, are self-aware and adaptive. Leaders who are dedicated to addressing the problems of poverty and bring a blend of leadership capabilities and strong business skills to the table.
Acumen Fellows are a different kind of leader. And one day, they’re going to change the world.

Competitive applicants for the Global Fellows Program should meet the following criteria:

Demonstrated passion and commitment to creating positive social change
Proven track record of collaborative leadership and management responsibilities
Experience living and working in emerging markets
Grit, courage, and perseverance
A minimum of 4 years work experience
Strong business experience

Program Details:

The fellowship begins with eight weeks of training in the Acumen New York office, where Fellows build their understanding of the problems of poverty, the current tensions on the sector as we explore solutions and understand the role we have to play.
The 2 months are also an exploration and reflection on Self, Other, and System, requiring deep introspection, and a willingness to change our own values, beliefs, behaviors, before we can effect change in the world.
After training, each Fellow is placed with a company within Acumen’s ecosystem where they work on a key business challenge.
In the past Fellows have worked on projects ranging from leading operations of a new business unit at a cotton ginnery in Uganda, to leading operations at a coffee processing company in Rwanda, to building partnerships for a vocational skills training company in India.

2016 World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) Awards for Innovative Projects addressing Global Education Challenges (Cash Prize of $USD20,000 Prize)

Each year, the WISE Awards recognize and promote six successful innovative projects that are addressing global educational challenges. Since 2009, WISE has received more than 2,850 applications from over 150 countries.

The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative of QATAR FOUNDATION, invites applications for the 2016 WISE Awards.

The 2016 WISE Awards will identify, celebrate, and promote six innovative projects for their positive contribution to education and society. The Awards highlight initiatives found to be most creative and effective in finding solutions to education challenges at any level and in all environments. In bringing forward these models, WISE is helping build a network of recognized change-makers to inspire change in education.

Representatives of projects are invited to submit applications to demonstrate the nature and reach of their activities. Nominations of projects are also invited. Past winning projects have addressed a wide range of concerns and pursuits, including access to quality education, life-long learning opportunities, and the use of technology.

Today, 42 projects have been awarded, from a wide variety of sectors and locations for their innovative character, their positive contribution and their potential for scalability and adaptability. These projects represent a growing resource of expertise and sound educational practice.

Year by year, WISE is building a community of educational innovators which offers a fertile environment for groundbreaking collaborations. Today the WISE Awards network comprises pioneering projects that are helping bring real change to societies and communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

The 2016 WISE Awards submission procedure accepts both applications and nominations. Ongoing/existing education projects run by any type of organization

1 in any education sector

2 and from any part of the world can apply or be nominated for the WISE Awards.

Applications can only be for original works and original projects and must be submitted by a project representative working within the project.
All applicants must therefore guarantee that their organization, or they themselves, originated the project, and can not hold QATAR FOUNDATION liable for any action or claim from a third party with respect to the project submitted.
Nominations can be submitted by persons outside the organization running the project.
Nominators will be requested to identify themselves in the submission form; this information will be kept confidential by QATAR FOUNDATION.
Nominators may or may not request information from the project in order to best complete the nomination form

Selection Process:

Project representatives from any region, educational sector or level may submit applications which demonstrate the quality and impact of their activities in accordance with the criteria.
Following this global annual call for applications, a Pre-Jury composed of education experts assesses the submissions to select the Finalists.
Following this, a Jury bringing together leading personalities from the education world chooses the six Award winning projects. Winners receive global visibility along with a prize of $20,000 (US) and are honored at the annual WISE Summit.

The winning projects each receive international recognition, as well as a cash prize of $20,000 (US). The six winners and Finalists are given support and visibility through:

– WISE and Euronews film productions

– Participation in the annual WISE Summit

Members of the WISE Awards network gain global visibility and are given an opportunity to collaborate through various platforms:

WISE Communications: Projects recognized by WISE are featured on the website, showcased and shared with the WISE community via social media. WISE media partner Euronews also promotes the Award-winning projects on the weekly television magazine Learning World.

Multimedia productions: Special documentaries and videos are produced to showcase the work of the winning projects.

WISE Books: Several WISE Awards finalists and winning projects have been featured in WISE Book s which explore current challenges and solutions facing 21st-century education.

The Annual Summit: Representatives from Award winning projects are also given the opportunity to present and discuss their work at a dedicated Summit session during the annual WISE Summit in Doha, Qatar. In addition, projects are offered an opportunity to participate in global events organized in collaboration with WISE.

Timeline:

The deadline for submission of applications is January 15, 2016, 13.00 GMT.
The Pre-Jury will then review all eligible applications.
The shortlisted 15 Finalist Projects will be announced in April 2016.
The 15 Finalists may be visited onsite by the WISE film team.
An independent Innovation Assessment will be organized, as described below.
The Jury will review all the 15 Finalists and the evaluations conducted onsite.
