The United Nations – The Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship Programme
~ Human Resources Development and Advancement of the Legal Order of the World’s Oceans

The objective of the fellowship is to provide opportunities for advanced education and research in the field of ocean affairs and the law of the sea, and related disciplines including marine science in support of management frameworks, to Government officials and other mid-level professionals from developing States, so that they may obtain the necessary knowledge to assist their countries to formulate comprehensive ocean policy and to implement the legal regime set out in UNCLOS and related instruments.

Upon completion of the fellowship, fellows should have an advanced awareness and understanding of key issues and best international practices in ocean affairs and are expected to return to their home-countries to contribute their experience to assist with the effective implementation of UNCLOS and related instruments and programmes.

Programme Structure

The 9-month Fellowship Programme is composed of two consecutive phases which provide Fellows with advanced and customized research and training opportunities in their chose fields:

Phase One: 3-month Research and Training – normally undertaken at DOALOS at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Phase Two: 6-month Advanced Academic Research and Study – undertaken at one of the prestigious participating Host Institutions and under the guidance of subject matter expert(s) who have recognized in-depth expertise in the Fellows’ chosen field of study.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must:

Be Nominated by their Government, employer or competent organization;
Be between the ages of 25 and 40;
Possess a first university degree in a related discipline, and have a demonstrated ability to undertake independent advanced research and studies in an academic context;
Be mid-level professionals who can demonstrate the they work directly on ocean issues;
Be in a position to accept placement with host institutions for a period of no less that nine consecutive months;
Be in a position to obtain all relevant visas including transit visas.
The Programme is conducted in English and can accommodate Francophone fellows.

Organisation of Islamic Cooperation OIC is pleased to announce the first edition of Ramadan Social Media Photo Competition. The competition is open to all citizens of an OIC member state aged 18 and above. The winning pictures can depict social, economic and cultural aspect of the theme of the competition; The Human Face of Ramadan.

Entries can depict Ramadan’s spirituality, generosity, spirit of sharing, gathering, divers Muslims’ traditions and cultures during Ramadan which all fall within the OIC’s objectives of promoting Islamic solidarity, brotherhood and cultural awareness.

Prize: 6 winners with 6 best photographs will be sponsored for Hajj pilgrimage.

Eligibility: Open to all citizens of an OIC member state aged 18 and above.

Award

The 6 winners with 6 best photographs will be sponsored for Hajj pilgrimage.
The prize is transferable to another person nominated by the winner.
If a winner is suspected to have committed fraud in the process of winning the competition, his/her winning slot will be awarded to the runner up in the competition.

Selection:

The pictures will be published on OIC website and social Media platforms throughout the month of Ramadan.
OIC special jury will then select 6 winners 2 weeks after the close of the competition using specific criteria and the winners will be announced on OIC website 3-4 weeks after the close of the competition.

How to enter the contest?

To enter the competition, simply upload a picture taken during the 1437 Ramadan fast depicting the Human Face of Ramadan. Including your name, age, location, date of the picture, tittle and a short caption. Only non-professional photographers with keen eye and creative mind are eligible to participate. Pictures entered for other competitions are not eligible. The competition closes on 30th Ramadan 1437.

Entries received after this date will not be considered. Competitors must also like or follow OIC Social Media Platforms.

How to submit my photos?

You can submit your photos on OIC website only and by filling the form below. For practical reasons, the upload process will not accept images greater than 7 MB.
Please ensure it is in JPEG format. OIC cannot be held responsible for problems associated with entry submission. Describe the view and location of the image so we can verify its authenticity and eligibility for the competition. (Languages: Arabic, English and French).

Caution: Please avoid digital manipulation. Your photograph should faithfully represent the scene as you saw it. Only photos deemed suitable for public viewing will be published on OIC website and Social Media platforms.

MINDS North and West Africa Regional Civic Education Workshop 2016 in Elections and Governance – Dakar, Senegal (Fully Funded)

The workshop will take place on the 19th – 20th April 2016 in #Dakar, #Senegal.

Applications for the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) North and West Africa Regional Civic Education Workshop 2016 in Elections and Governance are now open.

The Mandela Institute for Development Studies hosts regional training workshops in Civic Education on Elections and Governance across the continent. The aim of the workshops is to create awareness, enhance knowledge and develop relevant skills in electoral and governance processes and leadership among participants, in order for them to effectively communicate and apply them in influencing and mobilizing other youth to actively participate in the processes and other community and national development activities.

Eligibility Requirements:

The North and West Africa Civic Education workshop will take place in April 2016.

Cultures of Resistance Scholarships 2016 for Study in SOAS, University of London (£25,500 Worth)

Thanks to a collaboration between the Cultures of Resistance Network, the SOAS Students’ Union, International Students’ House and the American Friends of SOAS (AFSOAS), two postgraduate scholarships are available in 2016-17 at SOAS, University of London.

Worth

Each scholarship is valued at £25,500 in total, funded by Cultures of Resistance and the SOAS Students’ Union. Fees will be deducted from this amount and the remainder will be used toward maintenance.
In addition, each scholar will benefit from free accommodation at International Student House (ISH) and some food vouchers to be spent in the ISH restaurant.

Candidates must have an offer of admission to pursue a full time eligible programme by the scholarship closing date.
Applicants must meet the English language condition of their offer of admission to study at SOAS as soon as possible but no later than 1 June 2016. If your offer is conditional on English, please arrange your English test and ensure you meet the English requirements as soon as possible.

The scholarships will benefit people from countries that have been affected by wars and extreme poverty. MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity Innovation Challenge 2016

The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity is a $50 million challenge fund to extend financial services to people living in poverty.

The innovation competition seeks applications from organisations aiming to design, pilot, test, and launch new financial products and services that can effectively meet the financing needs of people living in poverty in rural and agricultural areas.

The Innovation Competition seeks proposals for a new financial product, service or process that will increase access to finance for rural poor people. Mastercard Foundation hopes to harness the creativity of the private sector to facilitate increased financial access for underserved markets and financially excluded people living in rural and agricultural areas in Africa.

The Innovation Competition is open to project proposals where implementation will take place in the following countries:

Eligibility Requirements:

The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity will only support ideas from institutions looking to deliver a financial service, product or process to rural poor people in an eligible African country (see list of countries above).

Projects may be proposed by a single institution or by a partnership of two or more of them (which could include a non-governmental organization); however, the proposal must be made by one company acting as the lead organization.

Firms that apply should have an established and verifiable institutional track record. The Fund will only consider start-ups in exceptional circumstances where there is strong evidence that the new company has credible and experienced investors and management team.

Firms that apply should have transparent ownership and governance structures.

Examples of institutions that are eligible include:

Banks;
Non-bank financial institutions such as insurance or leasing companies;
Agribusinesses that provide a financial service or that partner with a financial institution to deliver a financial service to their supply chain;
Firms that use mobile or IT technology to support the delivery of financial services to rural poor people; and
Firms that provide a non-financial service designed to facilitate increased access to financial services for financially excluded rural poor people. These firms may apply on their own as a lead applicant or may apply in partnership with a financial institution or agribusiness.

Summary of Eligibility Criteria

Eligible projects under The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity must meet the following criteria:

The proposal must be for a project within an institution.
Projects may be proposed by a single institution or by a partnership of two or more of them (which could include a non-governmental organization); however, the proposal must be made by one company acting as the lead organization.
Projects for the Innovation Competition must take place in one of the countries listed as eligible for the Innovation Competition.
Projects in the Scaling Competition must take place in one of the eight core countries eligible for that competition.
Projects must demonstrate the potential to increase the provision of financial services to financially excluded poor people in rural areas of eligible countries.
Applications made to the Innovation Competition should be for support of between US$250,000 and US$1,000,000. For the Scaling Competition, applications should be for support of between US$750,000 and US$2,500,000.

As part of the CSFP programme, New Zealand offers New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships to candidates from developing Commonwealth countries for postgraduate study (Masters and PhD) in New Zealand universities on a contestable basis. New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are highly competitive and for top level graduates.

New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme and managed and managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). The selection process in New Zealand is managed by Universities New Zealand.

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is an international programme under which member governments offer scholarships and fellowships to citizens of other Commonwealth countries.

The CSFP was established at the first Commonwealth education conference in 1959 and is reviewed by education ministers at their triennial meetings. The CSFP is the only scholarship scheme in the world to receive such high-level recognition.

Qualification types

New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are available for the following postgraduate qualifications:

The New Zealand Aid Programme offers scholarships to people from eligible African countries who are motivated to make a difference at home.

In 2016 New Zealand Development Scholarships applications can be made online from 1st February 2016. Applications close on 30th April 2016. Any eligible country can apply online.

Qualification types

New Zealand Development Scholarships are available for the following qualifications:

Scholarship Worth:

Economy class air ticket for me by the most direct and economical air travel route between an international airport in my home country nominated by MFAT and an airport in New Zealand close to the Education Institution
Airport reception and accommodation on arrival;
Establishment allowance;
A stipend to meet basic living expenses for the duration of my scholarship;
Full cost of tuition fees including compulsory enrolment, orientation and student union fees (course-related costs are excluded);
A return, standard economy class air ticket if I am eligible for reunion travel or home leave entitlements (as determined by MFAT)
insurance which includes health care and travel cover;
For PhD awardees and Masters awardees where research comprises 120 credits or more of the Masters programme and as authorised by MFAT; a research and thesis allowance, and provision for overseas fieldwork travel to the home country; and
At the completion of my scholarship, an economy class air ticket f

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) was established in 1983 under the Lomé Convention between the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) Group of States and the European Union Member States. Since 2000, it has operated within the framework of the ACP-EC Cotonou Agreement. CTA’s tasks are to develop and provide services that improve access to information for agricultural and rural development, and to strengthen the capacity of ACP countries to produce, acquire, exchange and utilise information in this area.

1. Have an excellent knowledge of either English or French and the ability to work in the

other language;

2. Possess a degree in one or more of the following fields: information/communications,

journalism,agriculture with information and communication experience.

OFID is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2016/2017.

OFID scholarships will be awarded to four students or candidates for master’s degree studies. Applicants must be from a developing country (except OFID Member Countries), and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development, from any recognized university/college in the world.

Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies.

Must be between the ages of 23-32 at the time of submitting his/her application.

The OWSD Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDC) at Centres of Excellence in the South. The Fellowship is offered to women scientists to pursue postgraduate research in a field of the natural sciences.

This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.

With funds generously provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), OWSD has instituted a fellowship programme for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a PhD, at centres of excellence in the South (developing countries), outside their own country.

Eligibility Requirements:

Open to qualified women science graduates from countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (see list below).
If applicants are over 40 years of age, they should include a brief explanation of why their research career has been delayed.
The minimum qualification is an MSc degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding BSc honours degree in the natural sciences, engineering or information technology disciplines (see list below).
Host institutions must be located in a developing country. This must be a different country from the applicant’s home country.
Applicants must provide a preliminary acceptance letter from at least one host institute. The letter must be prepared based on the sample on page 10 and be signed by the head of department, potential host supervisor or postgraduate studies coordinator.
The application will be evaluated more favourably if the preliminary acceptance letter is supported by a letter of commitment from the prospective host supervisor, describing why the host institute is appropriate for the subject of study and confirming the supervisor’s interest in working with the student.
Students from eligible countries already enrolled on a PhD programme in their home country can apply for the sandwich option. This gives them access to expertise and resources that might not be available at the home institute.
Applicants already on site in the host country will not be considered eligible since this implies that they have already secured sufficient funding for their studies.
The applicant must be willing to return to her own country after completion of the fellowship.
Accompanying persons are not eligible for support.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme #TEEP, a Pan-African entrepreneurship initiative of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, is a multi-year programme of training, funding, and mentoring, designed to empower the next generation of African entrepreneurs.

The programme will be a mix of online and face-to-face instruction, including webinars and video tutorials with support from your mentor throughout. It will cover topics on starting and scaling a business, business development, marketing strategy, effective management and product design.

The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme is open to citizens and legal residents of all 54 African countries.

The Government of India is offering the Africa Scholarship through Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under Africa Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M. Phil./Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in various Indian Universities/Institutes.

At the inaugural plenary of the India – Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi in April 2008, the Honorable Prime Minister of India announced the Government of India’s initiative to enhance the academic opportunities for students of African countries in India by increasing the number of scholarships for them to pursue under-graduate, post-graduate and higher courses.
The ICCR implements this scheme on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Government of Brunei Darussalam is offering annual scholarships under a special scholarship award scheme, for the 2016/2017 academic session. Tenable in Brunei Darussalam, the aim of the scholarship awards is to provide applicants, with the opportunity to study at University of Brunei Darussalam [UBD], Islam Sultan Sharif Ali university [UNISSA] and Brunei Institute of Technology [ITB].

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be citizens of ASEAN, OIC, Commonwealth Member Countries and others are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18 – 25 for undergraduate programmes and not exceed 35 for postgraduate programmes on the 31 July 2016.
The award is not eligible, to Brunei Permanent Residents and foreigners residing in Brunei Darussalam.

Scholarship Worth:

The scholars are exempted from paying tuition fees and other appropriate compulsory fees as determined by the university for the duration of the programme.

One return economy class air-ticket for the most economically viable route to Brunei Darussalam will be determined by the Brunei Darussalam Government. No additional assistance will be provided towards other travel expenses.

Allowances payable will include:

Monthly personal allowance of BND500.00
Annual Book Allowance BND600.00
Monthly food allowance of BND150.00
Upon completion of the program, Baggage allowance to a maximum institution of BND250.00 to ASEAN region and BND500.00 to non ASEAN region.

Outpatient medical and/or dental treatment is at any Brunei government hospitals, However an administrative charge is payable for each consultation with the government general practitioner or specialist.
Should the scholar seek further medical or dental treatments at any private hospital or clinic, all expenses are to be borne by scholars themselves.

The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative of QATAR FOUNDATION, invites applications for the 2016 WISE Awards.

The 2016 WISE Awards will identify, celebrate, and promote six innovative projects for their positive contribution to education and society. The Awards highlight initiatives found to be most creative and effective in finding solutions to education challenges at any level and in all environments. In bringing forward these models, WISE is helping build a network of recognized change-makers to inspire change in education.

Representatives of projects are invited to submit applications to demonstrate the nature and reach of their activities. Nominations of projects are also invited. Past winning projects have addressed a wide range of concerns and pursuits, including access to quality education, life-long learning opportunities, and the use of technology.

Today, 42 projects have been awarded, from a wide variety of sectors and locations for their innovative character, their positive contribution and their potential for scalability and adaptability. These projects represent a growing resource of expertise and sound educational practice.

Year by year, WISE is building a community of educational innovators which offers a fertile environment for groundbreaking collaborations. Today the WISE Awards network comprises pioneering projects that are helping bring real change to societies and communities.

Eligibility Requirements:

The 2016 WISE Awards submission procedure accepts both applications and nominations. Ongoing/existing education projects run by any type of organization

1 in any education sector

2 and from any part of the world can apply or be nominated for the WISE Awards.

Applications can only be for original works and original projects and must be submitted by a project representative working within the project.
All applicants must therefore guarantee that their organization, or they themselves, originated the project, and can not hold QATAR FOUNDATION liable for any action or claim from a third party with respect to the project submitted.
Nominations can be submitted by persons outside the organization running the project.
Nominators will be requested to identify themselves in the submission form; this information will be kept confidential by QATAR FOUNDATION.
Nominators may or may not request information from the project in order to best complete the nomination form

Selection Process:

Project representatives from any region, educational sector or level may submit applications which demonstrate the quality and impact of their activities in accordance with the criteria.
Following this global annual call for applications, a Pre-Jury composed of education experts assesses the submissions to select the Finalists.
Following this, a Jury bringing together leading personalities from the education world chooses the six Award winning projects. Winners receive global visibility along with a prize of $20,000 (US) and are honored at the annual WISE Summit.

WISE Books: Several WISE Awards finalists and winning projects have been featured in WISE Book s which explore current challenges and solutions facing 21st-century education.

The Annual Summit: Representatives from Award winning projects are also given the opportunity to present and discuss their work at a dedicated Summit session during the annual WISE Summit in Doha, Qatar. In addition, projects are offered an opportunity to participate in global events organized in collaboration with WISE.

Timeline:

The deadline for submission of applications is January 15, 2016, 13.00 GMT.
The Pre-Jury will then review all eligible applications.
The shortlisted 15 Finalist Projects will be announced in April 2016.
The 15 Finalists may be visited onsite by the WISE film team.
An independent Innovation Assessment will be organized, as described below.
The Jury will review all the 15 Finalists and the evaluations conducted onsite.

2016/2017 Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships for Study in the United Kingdom.

Loughborough University is delighted to announce full-fee scholarships for international full-time taught postgraduate students who are currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa. These will be known as the Loughborough University Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships.

The scholarships are being funded through a combination of generous external funding and University funds. The University will award a limited number of scholarships and the standards required are very high.

Students will be expected to fund their travel and maintenance costs through other sources. Evidence of maintenance funds must be included in the scholarship application.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applications will be initially shortlisted and the final decision on the awards will be made by a selection panel of senior staff of the University. The selection panel will use the following eligibility criteria when assessing applications:

Currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa
Evidence of exceptional academic achievement (normally a 1st Class Honours Degree)
Commitment to return to their home country on completion of postgraduate programme
Evidence of the ability and commitment to making a significant contribution to their home country on their return
Full understanding of the costs involved in coming to study and live in the UK
Evidence of strong motivation and initiative to secure funds to cover the remainder of the costs involved

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarships will cover 100% of the course fees for your chosen postgraduate taught course for one year (replacing any Departmental or Loughborough University scholarships or bursaries you may already have been awarded).

2016 AFD-PSIA Student Scholarships in Development for Africans to Study in France

Based on a special partnership between the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD),multiple scholarships ranging from partial to full tuition fee grants will be offered every year to incoming students in the Master in Development Practice at PSIA. The AFD is the main implementing agency for France’s official development assistance to developing countries and overseas territories.

Eligibility Requirements:

The AFD-PSIA Scholarship is dedicated to nationals of African countries only. Priority will be given to students coming from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic,Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Liberia, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
Applicants must have already submitted a full application to the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA) for the 2016 intake through the Sciences Po Admissions Portal (including all supporting documents and references) and must have applied to PSIA’s Master in Development Practice (one-year program).
Please note that only applicants successfully admitted to PSIA will be considered for the scholarship.
Students applying to a dual degree program are not eligible.

The Scholarship:

Multiple scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to the best candidates on the basis of their academic record and their project at Sciences Po.
In principle, the AFD-PSIA Scholarship goes towards covering tuition fees.
The AFD-PSIA scholarship is offered for the entire length of study at PSIA on condition of sufficient academic performance (top 50% of the class): students enrolled on the Master in Development Practice must show sufficient academic performance during the first semester or their scholarship will be withdrawn in the second semester.
The scholarship is dependent on the awardees completing their course of study at PSIA. A change in Master will lead to the withdrawal of the scholarship.
Please note that the scholarship offer is for students beginning their studies in September 2016 and may not be deferred

Study Programme

Aims of the Programme

To train participants to successfully:

Create a relationship of mutual trust with youth in order to enable their reintegration into the educational system;
Help individual youths develop and realize their potential so that they may help themselves and their society;
Reduce alienation from the community and society;
Plan educational services and interventions for youths ages 12-18 considered at-risk according to the following characteristics:

Methodology

• Lectures and discussions led by experts
• Workshops
• Analysis of educational planning through written material and professional visits
• Meeting with institutional administrators
• Exposure to projects at the national and regional level
• Simulations, panel discussions, and group work
• Preparation of final projects by individuals or groups, based on the professional interests of participants
• Study Tours: Schools, educational centers (including science and art centers), universities, teacher training institutions and pedagogical resource centers.

Social Activities and Tours:

Organized tours of holy sites and locations of general and historical interest will be conducted. Social and cultural activities will be arranged.

Qualifications required

a) High-level educational staff, at the regional or national level, dealing with the target population, school principals, counselors, supervisors, lecturers at teacher training institutions, and researchers in relevant fields;
b) Be proficient in reading and writing in the language of instruction; (if the language of instruction is not the mother tongue, a certificate of language proficiency must be provided);
c) Be not more than 50 years of age;

Facilities offered by the MASHAV (Israel)

Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) will assume costs relating to:

Registration and tuition frees;
Accommodation (Room and Board); and
Health insurance and basic medical care (This does not include dental care, glasses, and chronic illnesses).

Accommodations: Participants will reside at Ramat Rachel Hotel on the outslirts of Jerusalem 2 people per room.

Facilities offered by UNESCO

UNESCO will cover international travel expenses (at the most economical airfare) within the framework of the 2014-2015 Fellowships Programme; and
One-time special allowance amounting to US$100.

(Note: Expenses such as the processing of visa, accommodation, meals and insurance during transit and/or prolonged stay in Israel are not covered by this fellowship.)

All applications, indicating clearly the course for which candidates are applying, should be endorsed by the relevant Government body (such as the National Commission or Permanent Delegation) and must be made on a MASHAV Fellowship Application form. Each Member State can nominate a maximum of two (2) candidatures. The mission of EBID is to work towards the emergence of an economically strong, industrialized, prosperous West Africa which is fully integrated within the region and world economy in order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by globalization.

Within the framework of launching its Young Professionals Programme, EBID seeks to recruit young graduates from universities and other tertiary institutions of learning in the West African sub region and the diaspora.

The programme is designed for high calibre young professionals who will not be more than thirty (30) years at the time of recruitment. The selected candidates will be appointed as Young Trainee Professional Staff in the Bank under a two (2)-year fixed term contract.

Eligibility criteria

The citizens of ECOWAS Members States who fulfill the following criteria are invited to apply:

Less than 30 years of age at the time of recruitment;
Masters degree or equivalent qualification in fields related to activities of the Bank in particular, Asset/Liabilities Management, Audit, Communication and Marketing, Corporate Language Services (Terminology processing, Revising, Interpreting and Translating), Finance, Infrastructure, Legal counselling, film production and photography (Bank projects and communication activities), Private Sector Operations, Public Sector Operations, Risk Management or a qualification in any other area that is relevant to the activities of the Bank;
Ability to work in a team and under pressure within a multicultural environment;
Analytical and organizational skills, ability to plan and determine priorities;
Good research skills for obtaining pertinent information (banking analysis, statistics, monitoring competitive trends etc.) from external sources in particular, electronic data bases and other media admitted for professional purposes.
Good knowledge of office automation systems (Excel, Word, Access and Power Point);
Fluent in English/French/Portuguese with a working knowledge of one of the other two languages.

The candidates will observe a probationary period of six (6) months during which each party may terminate the relationship without prior notice. However, where the performance of the Young Trainee Professional Staff is deemed to be satisfactory during the probationary period, their appointment shall be converted into an open-ended contract which means they will be permanent members of staff of the Bank.

During their appointment, the Young Trainee Professional Staff will be posted to different Departments on a rotational basis to make them familiar with activities of the Bank and integrate them into a team where they will make positive contributions. Furthermore, the Trainee Professional Staff will work under the supervision of senior staff in order to become acquainted with the various Departments, Policies and Programmes of the Bank.

Olam scholarships: creating a generation of change catalysts for Sub Saharan Africa

Olam International is a global agri-business listed and headquartered in Singapore, growing, sourcing and processing food ingredients and industrial raw materials such as coffee, cocoa, cashew and cotton for over 13,800 customers, including Nestle, Unilever and Mars.

In celebration of its 25^th anniversary, Olam has launched a postgraduate scholarship programme for nationals of Sub-Saharan Africa committed to catalysing change in their home country during their career. The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is the strategic talent pipeline for the professional career in the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group. The Program is designed for outstanding young graduates who can significantly help the IDB Group to carry out its mission and attain its objectives.

This Program enables each Young Professional (YP) to receive extensive exposure and experience of the IDB Group’s various activities through job rotations in different departments. Participants will initially spend two weeks Orientation stage in HRMD. Then, 27 months in Foundation stage which will be split into three rotations of 9 months each in IDB Group departments.

Participants will also benefit from a coaching/career counselling arrangement and a wide range of relevant training and developmental opportunities.Upon successful program completion, the participant will gradually climb up the professional grades in the IDB Group.

ELIGIBILITY: Prospective candidates for the YPP must fulfill the following minimum requirements:

Holds a Bachelor degree in development, education, economics, finance, accounting, business administration, engineering, information technology and law or any other specializations relevant to the work of the Bank from highly reputed Universities or international centers of excellence.
Outstanding academic record. The indicators of high grades shall be based on education system of each country or region. The following grades from different education systems shall form a baseline for candidate’s eligibility for the YP program:

GPA 3.5 on the scale of 4 or equivalent for any other system
‘A’ Grade according to regional systems following ABC grading
‘Excellent’ (ممتاز) in Arab, Russian or any other region’s system following such grading system
Bien in French and Francophone systems.
2nd Class Upper Honors in British system
Shall be a citizen of an IDB member country; applicants from Muslim communities of non-member countries may be admitted
African Countries in the IDB: Guinea Bissau: Libya, Nigeria, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea , Mali , Mauritania , Morocco , Mozambique,Niger, Algeria,Benin, Sierra Leone, Cote dIvoire, Djibouti, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Chad, Cameroon, Egypt,Somalia, Senegal
Age not more than 32 years at the time of interviews. May be allowed to attend interviews if they are under the age requirement at the date of application.
No working experience is required. However, experience shall be considered favourably

Applicants in the following categories shall be considered as Priority candidates subject to their meeting entry requirements:

a) Professionals with experience in a field directly related to the IDB Group’s activities particularly experience working in global organizations

b) Under-represented nationalities from IDB member countries

c) Master’s degree or its equivalent or Ph.D

d) Good command of Arabic or either English or French provided he/she is able to work in English.

Foundation Stage

Two weeks Orientation at HRMD
Three department rotations of 9 months duration each
The objective of this stage is to develop/strengthen the foundation of YPs with required competencies, knowledge and skills needed in the IDB Group, so that they could succeed professionally

Integration Stage

YPs shall be confirmed in one of the departments subject to meeting requirements
Assigned a 3 to 6 months graduation project
YPs are expected to be in this stage between 1 year to 2 years before considered for graduation
The integrated YPs shall be exposed to LeadDP (Leadership Development Program)
YPs to be fully integrated with the IDB’s operations and culture

Graduation

HRMD shall ensure that the YP is ready for the professional role
Direct placement on the grade of the position for which he/she was selected
Successful YPs awarded Certificate of Graduation

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Basic Salary: Internationally competitive tax free salary based on education and experience of the YPs.
COLA: Cost of living allowance as per the management’s decision.
Transportation Allowance: Lump sum monthly payment besides basic salary.
Spouse Allowance: 5% of basic salary if the spouse is not working.
Housing Allowance: To a certain maximum limit.
Children Education Allowance: 75% of the actual costs of education to a prescribed limit.

The DREAM Project (with financial support granted by the European Commission through the Erasmus Mundus Programme) grants scholarships to students from ACP countries and staff members to undertake a mobility period, or full degree, in some of the best universities in Europe.

Scholarships are available for master and doctorate students and also for staff members (academic and administrative) and include a monthly allowance, travel, insurance and tuition fees.

Program Structure:

The second physical part of the program takes place during September 5-23, 2016. The participants then travel back to Stockholm to spend another three weeks together.
During this time they will meet with their mentors, learn from each other’s experience and participate in workshops and coaching sessions built around business executions, all to ensure that they leave Stockholm with the skills and confidence required to scale up their social enterprises in the future.

2016 Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for Students from Developing Countries to study in the United Kingdom

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarship schemes for international study in the world. Since it was established in 1959, around 30,000 individuals have benefited – 25,000 of them have held awards funded by the UK government, managed by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC).

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships is offered by the CSC for citizens of developing Commonwealth countries in 2016. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are offered for selected taught Master’s courses, and are usually tenable for one year only. These scholarships do not cover undergraduate courses, PhD study, or any pre-sessional English language teaching.

Eligibility

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

Be a Commonwealth citizen, refugee, or British protected person
Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country
Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2016
By August 2016, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard
Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a developed country
Be unable, either yourself or through your family, to pay to study in the UK

Intended beneficiaries:

High-quality postgraduate students who have not studied extensively overseas before, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to study in the UK, and who have the potential to enhance the development of their home countries with the knowledge and leadership skills they acquire.

Scholarship Worth:

Shared Scholarships are jointly funded by the CSC and participating UK universities. Each Scholarship provides:

Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (arranged by the university; funded by the CSC)
Approved tuition and examination fees (funded by the CSC)
Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,034 per month, or £1,268 per month for those studying at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2015-2016 levels) (paid and funded by the university)
Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a dissertation, where applicable (claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC)
Warm clothing allowance and visa reimbursement, where applicable (paid and funded by the university)

2016 Austrian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students to study in Austria.

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) and the European Union invites applications from international students for the 2016 Scholarship of the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria for Undergraduates, Graduates and Postgraduates.

Eligibility Requirements:

Eligible for application are
– descendents of forced labourers (regardless of their country of origin)
– or people coming from countries that have suffered exceptionally from the Nazi regime, especially from the recruitment of forced labourers.

Students meeting the above mentioned criteria can apply to pursue research
– on their diploma or master thesis
– or their dissertation.

Scholarship Worth:

The quota depends on the budget Grant benefit paid:

1) monthly scholarship instalment: 940 EUR

The costs for the insurance have to be covered from the scholarship.
3) The OeAD provides scholarship holders with accommodation (student dormitory or apartment). Monthly costs: 220 to 470 EUR (depending on the level of comfort requested by the scholarship holder).

The scholarship holder has to pay an administrative fee of 18 EUR/month to the OeAD for the provision of accommodation. The costs for the accommodation have to be covered from the scholarship.
4) Applicants from countries which are neither members of the EU nor members of EFTA, EEA or OECD can be granted a travel allowance. The lump sum depends on the country of origin.

2016 Hague Academy Talent of Governance Scholarship Programme in Netherland (Fully Funded)

In many parts of the world, local civil servants work under difficult circumstances. The communities for which they work are characterised by widespread poverty, a lack of basic services, high unemployment rates and environmental challenges. Moreover, their organisations often lack qualified staff and financial resources needed to deal with these challenges.

Still there are many young, ambitious civil servants that strive for better services and the development of their local communities. Talent for Governance supports them by providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and training so that they can develop their skills and realise their ambitions.

With a Talent for Governance scholarship, young talents at the local level increase their practical knowledge on topics such as management of waste or water, local economic development, municipal service delivery, citizen participation and accountability, fiscal decentralisation and local taxes, climate change and resilience, integrity and anti-corruption.

Eligibility:

Young civil servants working for local government in a developing country can apply for the Talent for Governance programme. They must have a strong motivation and a concrete project or idea to improve the performance of the organisation and create better services for their community.

Application is possible if you: work for a local government (not an NGO or private enterprise);

work in one of the countries listed on the DAC country list ;
be 37 years of age or younger when you apply;
have at least two years of work experience in local governance and prove your commitment to
work there for at least two years more;
speak and understand the English language well (all programmes are in English);
be able to write down and orally defend your motivation for and relevance of the specific programme;
be able to identify an issue/project as a real life case within the theme of the programme for which you will write a Back Home Action Plan during the Talent programme;
have written support of your employer to participate in the programme and to implement the Back Home Action Plan when you return home.

Each class of Fellows is a unique group, geographically balanced, and representative of a wide range of professions, talents, and perspectives.

During the four month program (from mid-August to mid-December), Yale World Fellows are fully immersed in the University community. They share their expertise and ideas in classes and seminars across Yale and New Haven. While most activities take place on campus and in the New Haven community, the program this year includes trips to New York City and Washington, DC and an off-site retreat.

Eligbility

To be eligible, applicants must:

be in the mid-career stage Fellows are at least five, and typically not more than twenty, years into their careers, with demonstrated work accomplishments, and a clear indication of future contributions and excellence. The average age of a World Fellow is 39, though there is no minimum or maximum age limit.
be fluent in English An excellent command of the English language is essential.
be a citizen of a country other than the United States While dual citizens are eligible, preference is given to candidates whose work is focused outside the US.

Encouraged by the success of the previous Africa-Europe Training Courses and the demand for capacity building opportunities expressed by youth leaders in the Africa-Europe Youth Co-operation, the North-South Centre will run the 11th edition of this programme. The course is organised in co-operation with the European Youth Forum, the Pan-African Youth Union and the Network of International Youth Organisations in Africa.
After last editions of the course held in Tarrafal, Cape Verde (2002, 2009); Mollina, Spain (2004); Coimbra, Portugal (2005, 2008) Almada, Portugal (2006), Polokwane, South Africa (2010) Mindelo, Cape Verde (2012, 2013) and Nairobi, Kenya (2014) this 11th Africa-Europe Training Course will be held 8 – 15 November 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya.
During the course, participants will develop competences and tools to strengthen their political participation in the context of the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership and develop competences for the capacity-building of their organisations as civil society actors in the development process.

The 11th AFRICA-EUROPE Training Course for Youth Organisations to be held between 8 November and 15 November 2015 Nairobi, Kenya In the framework of the 7th African University on Youth and Development.

The training course aims to:

strengthen the role of youth organisations as civil society actors and enable youth to organise and take action;
reinforce its political participation in Africa-Europe co-operation;
promote the global citizenship of young people in Europe and Africa.

The week-long course can accommodate up to 20 participants. Active participation and in-depth reflection are key features of the course. Participants will compare their approaches to youth work and youth participation, engaging in the implementation and evaluation of the programme with the team of trainers.
This Training Course is an opportunity given to youth leaders from Africa and Europe to share, better understand and integrate the objectives set at the international level in their work and contribute to their achievement. Some of these objectives (mentioned above) inscribed in the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership, help enable youth to take an active part in these strategies at the national and regional level and be further equipped to participate.

Profile of Participants

The participants in this course are representatives of youth organisations in Europe and Africa. European and African national and international youth organisations are invited to propose candidates for this course. The selection will be carried out by the North-South Centre in consultation with partners of the training course.

Approximately 50% of the participants in this course will come from youth organisations in Europe; the other half will come from youth organisations in Africa. Gender balance will be ensured in the selection process of the participants, as well as the balance between the type and/or nature of organisations.

Concerning participants and their profile:

should be a key multiplier playing an active role within a youth organisation, network or service at national or regional level, and plan to continue this work in the near future;
seeking gender balance;
diverse social and geographical background (including disadvantaged and minority groups);
aged between 18 and 30;
have already some qualification or experience in terms of international youth work;
be committed to attend the full duration of the course and be supported by a youth organisation or service;
be able to present the context of their work, their way of tackling problems, the challenges they meet;
be able to work and communicate in English/French.

Benefits:

The North-South Centre will do its best to issue a pre-paid ticket. In exceptional cases, participants might advance the booking of the international flight and reimbursement will be done fully or in an agreed amount.
It is expected that participants/background organisation support the expenses related with local transport in the home country, as well as visa and necessary vaccination costs.
The board and lodging for the full duration of the training course is covered by the North-South Centre (accommodation and meals). Participants will be accommodated in double/triple rooms.
There is no participation fee for this training course.

Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) Start-up Scholarships 2016 for study in Germany.

The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) awards up to six four-month start-up scholarships to international MA graduates who would like to pursue a doctoral degree in history, sociology, anthropology, or political science at the BGHS. Recipients receive the opportunity to prepare a persuasive proposal for a dissertation project. Subsequently, they may apply for the doctoral degree programme at the BGHS and/or for scholarships, doctoral positions and funding programmes in Germany or worldwide.

Requirements

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in sociology, history, political science, social anthropology or gender studies; applications from related disciplines are welcome.
Graduates from abroad who wish to pursue a doctoral degree in history, sociology, anthropology or political science may apply for a start-up scholarship.
Applications from pre-doctoral researchers .
Applicants should speak either German or English fluently.
Neither German nationals nor foreigners with a tertiary education from a German university may apply (Bildungsinländer/innen).
The start-up scholarships are meant to further networking with scientists at the BGHS, therefore no prolonged archival or research trips should take place during this period.

Scholarship Worth:

The scholarships will be awarded for the Summer Term of each year (1 April until 31 July) and include a stipend of EUR 1,200 per month. This amount will be supplemented by an allowance for children if applicable.
Upon application, travel costs can also be covered by the Graduate School. Moreover, the BGHS will offer a study programme tailored to the particular needs of international MA graduates.
Scholarship holders will participate in workshops on German academia as well as on writing a project description and will be supported intensively in finding a funding for their research project.

2017 United States of America (USA) Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV – 2017) – Live and Work in USA.

The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered annually by the Department of State. Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants” from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. For Fiscal Year 2017, 50,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available. There is no cost to register for the DV program.

Applicants who are selected in the program (“selectees”) must meet simple, but strict, eligibility requirements in order to qualify for a diversity visa. Selectees are chosen through a randomized computer drawing. Diversity visas are distributed among six geographic regions and no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.

For DV-2017, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico,Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR,and Taiwan are eligible

O*Net Online database will be used to determine qualifying work experience.

Entries for the DV-2017 program must be submitted electronically at www.dvlottery.state.gov between noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4),Thursday, October 1st, 2015 , and noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5), Tuesday, November 3 , 2015.
Do not wait until the last week of the registration period to enter, as heavy demand may result in website delays. No late entries or paper entries will be accepted.
The law allows only one entry by or for each person during each registration period.

The Young African Leadership Initiative 2016 #YALI2016 = Six-week leadership and Mentoring Program plus a chance to interact with Pres. Barack #Obama.

The 2016 YALI Fellowship will train 1,000 young African leaders across three tracks, which include business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership and public management. The 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship is a six-weeks in-depth academic and leadership training at 20 top American universities.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, begun in 2014, is the flagship program of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. The Fellowship provides 1,000 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. higher education institution with support for professional development after they return home.

In the summer of 2016, the Mandela Washington Fellowship will bring 1,000 young African leaders to the United States for academic coursework and leadership training and will create unique opportunities in Africa for Fellows to put new skills to practical use in leading organizations, communities, and countries.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, socio-economic status, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity. The Mandela Washington Fellowship is open to young African leaders who meet the following criteria:

Are between the ages of 25 and 35 at the time of application submission, although exceptional applicants younger than 25 will be considered.

Selection Process

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is conducted as a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed by a selection panel.

How to Participate

To show they care about Climate, Youths take part in this by:

1. Simply take a photo of yourself with a Placard bearing a message saying what YOU think world leaders should do to prevent climate change.

The UNFPA Internship Programme offers a small group of outstanding students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNFPA operations. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various aspects of UNFPA work.

Applicants should have expressed interest in the field of development; ability to adapt to new environments and work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Interns work under the supervision of a staff member at UNFPA. The background of the interns is matched with the needs of the organization.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates for the internship programme are selected on a competitive basis. The profiles of the interns are matched with the needs of the organization. The following qualifications are required for consideration:

• Students should be enrolled in an advanced degree programme or have recently graduated;
• Students must have written and spoken proficiency in English; fluency in French, Spanish or Arabic is an asset.

Logistics:

Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA.
The costs associated with an intern’s participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements.
In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship.
Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins.

Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.

Each year, the Clinton Global Initiative University hosts a meeting where students, university representatives, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges.

President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will host the ninth annual CGI U meeting from April 1-3, 2016 at the University of California, Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area. More than $750,000 in funding will be available to select CGI U 2016 students through the University Network and other opportunities to help them turn their ideas into action.

Requirements:

Students must be 18 years of age or older and enrolled in an institution of higher education at the time of the CGI U meeting in order to apply.
To be considered for admission, all applicants are required to design a Commitment to Action in one of CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health. All invited attendees will be notified by late December 2015.

Application

Students interested in attending CGI U can apply as either an individual or a group.

Individual: A student may apply to attend CGI U as an individual. This student makes a Commitment to Action that he or she will carry out individually, or applies to attend CGI U as the sole representative of a larger organization.

Group: Up to three students may apply to attend CGI U as a group. These students collaborate on a Commitment to Action and apply to attend the meeting together to represent their project or initiative.

The group must appoint a group leader to fill out the first part of the CGI U application (which includes the Commitment to Action), and the additional group members will receive emails from CGI U with instructions on how to complete their portions of the application. It is the responsibility of the group leader to ensure that all group members complete their portions of the application
